Just a thought re. mattress toppers: Don’t forget that the depth of the mattress plus topper will mean that you’ll probably have to buy a ‘deeper’ fitted sheet as well 🙁

This was most helpful. Could you help me figure which out of air mattresses and memory foam mattresses should i go for when i’m pregnant? air foam is less expensive and i can deflate it and go back to my regular mattress once i have my delivery. memory foam could become my second mattress or maybe i could donate my old mattress and replace it with this one. I can only get one mattress though…

Thank you so much for the informative post! I’ve been thinking about getting a mattress topper but wasn’t really sure what I should get. Since I do have joint pain, I think I’ll go with memory foam. 😀

Oh man, this brings to the forefront how much I need a new matress and dread shopping for it. Maybe I can get by with a topper, lol. I am thinking we need one of those sleep number type beds because we both have different sleeping needs.

I’ve seen the Egg Crate Mattress Toppers the most. I would love to have one of the Memory Foam toppers though. Sounds comfy!

I would love to try a memory foam topper. I do suffer from joint pain. I don’t really like the egg crate toppers. I am a nurse and we have used these at times with our patients. Thank you for sharing this great information

I went through several different toppers in an affort to get more life out of my old mattress. The egg crate style were okay but didn’t last long & had to be repositioned a lot. But they were inexpensive. I think the best I found was an overstuffed feather mattress topper that stayed in place because it actually fit around the mattress like a fitted sheet.

I have a memory foam topper (after trying several different kinds) and I like it very much. I don’t get hot when using it.

Am I the only person who finds memory foam terribly uncomfortable? I don’t find them supportive of my back at all and would rather sleep on the floor. I have to get a new mattress this year and I’m dreading it because I know the choice is so limited for people who like a really firm one.
