    November Giveaway

Hello, little Peanuts. November is here. We are 62 days away from 2024?!?! WHAT!??! Yup, I’m full of great news today. Christmas is only 55 days away! Today we put the snow tires on my little orange Subaru. You can blame me if it snows tonight. I made a quick trip to California in October to watch my Granddaughter Alice perform Ursula in The Little Mermaid.  Since I still can’t believe the set of pipes on this kid, I’m sharing the video again. She’s ONLY 12!! Wasn’t it just yesterday I was teaching her to read Pajama Time?? One more set of pictures. I finally went and retrieved the SDCard…

  • Fun Tips for Teaching Kids to Read!!

Cute little girl reading Roxie the Doxie book

Instilling a love of reading at a young age is imperative to a child’s growth and learning habits. There are many steps that can be taken when teaching kids to read. The following tips make learning to read fun and easy for every child. Engage Children with Words The more a child is exposed to language, the easier reading will become. This can mean anything from singing, talking, cuddling or playing. Any way a child can be engaged with words aids the learning process. A fun game to play involves shopping at the grocery store. Say something like, “we need apples, where are the apples?” The child will look around…

  • Why Apps for Kids Aren’t All Bad, and How to Make Sure It Stays That Way

    March 22, 2018 / 1 Comment
    Kids Academy BINGO App

There’s no denying that using apps can be bad for kids. You can say the same thing about watching TV or playing video games, but just like television and video games, apps don’t have to be bad for kids. Especially since there are many innovative ways apps are changing and will continue to evolve over the upcoming years. Less Stress for Mom and Dad One of the big reasons why apps don’t have to be all bad is the fact that they can allow mom and dad to be better parents. By allowing their children to play on an app for a little bit, they have a chance to relax.…

  • The Tiny Traveler Series For Kids Review

    March 4, 2015 / 4 Comments

Board Books are NOT just for babies!! Since I spend my days with 3-year-old Alice, we do a lot of playing, a lot of art and a lot of learning projects. Alice can write her alphabet; she can read so many site words I’ve lost count. There are several books that she can read front to back. Yes, they are easy books and I’m sure that she has them memorized. But, I’m still beaming with pride. I was approached by Misti Kenison to review her new series of children’s board books; The Tiny Traveler series. I jumped at the chance! Seriously, what better way to teach kids how to read…

  • Slippery Willie’s Stupid, Ugly Shoes

    October 31, 2011 / 4 Comments

I was able to review a super cute children’s book called “Slippery Willie’s Stupid, Ugly Shoes” by Larry Peterson.  Such a cute story about a boy Willie who “had slippery feet. They were so slippery that Willie just slipped, slid and spun all over the place”. Willie gets new “Stupid, Ugly” shoes that help him walk without slipping, but they are so ugly that Willie doesn’t want to wear them. What I like the most about this story is the message that kids (us adults too!!) we sometimes worry about things so much that we make it a much bigger deal than it really is.  This story also helps children see that we all…
