    Hello Sunday

Hello Sunday! I’m actually in my car as you read this headed back home to Sandpoint, Idaho. Let me tell you what!! The Subaru Crosstrek can hold a ginormous amount of stuff!! I kept finding more free space and filled every square inch!! Also decided that I should bring that case of Diet Coke from the garage, but by that time the car was totally packed so……. of course I just started placing cans around the floor boards.  I see you smiling already, you KNOW where this is going don’tcha??  Yup, I slammed that door and heard psssssssssssssssstttttttttt. Y’all shoulda seen me MOVE!! I got the can out of the car before it was even a forth of the way empty. Of course in the process of doing that I got soda e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e!!  So, not only is my car packed but it’s clean too!!!  At least on the outside. I think I got everything from the inside mopped up. But, really, there was NO WAY I was unpacking! I just spent all day packing IT!!  No way that was comin’ back outta the car. NOPE. NOT gonna do it. NOPE!! It can just wait till we get to Idaho. Next…

  • Fun Tips for Teaching Kids to Read!!

Cute little girl reading Roxie the Doxie book

Instilling a love of reading at a young age is imperative to a child’s growth and learning habits. There are many steps that can be taken when teaching kids to read. The following tips make learning to read fun and easy for every child. Engage Children with Words The more a child is exposed to language, the easier reading will become. This can mean anything from singing, talking, cuddling or playing. Any way a child can be engaged with words aids the learning process. A fun game to play involves shopping at the grocery store. Say something like, “we need apples, where are the apples?” The child will look around to find the apples, and this will help to broaden the vocabulary. You can then point these words out during reading sessions. Even walking down the street can be a time for engagement. Point out a man running, or a woman gardening, or any activity that is happening. Always use descriptive words, as this will help with vocabulary development. Sound out Words Used in the context of reading, singing, rhyming, and talking, it’s important to bring to a child’s attention the sounds that letters make. Saying the sounds of letters…

  • Ahhhh Come ON!!!

Pretty white flowers in Sandpoint Idaho

I’m still having major glitches with the blog. WOW! Do I know how to hose things up or WHAT?!?! Hopefully I will have this all fixed soon. Since I only have a couple more days with Alice I am not going to stress over it until next week when I’m back home. When I do get back home I’ll start documenting our remodel. I’m so excited!! It’s going to be fabulous!! (BTW did you know that the standard kitchen remodel takes 12 weeks?! TWELVE WEEKS?!?! Granted that’s from time of order of the cupboards to finish…. but ummmmmmmmmmm 12!!) I cheated. It’s August 27, 2024 and here is what my kitchen looks like now. Anyway, I hope you are all having a fantastic week. I’m enjoying every second with Alice that I can. Oh and before I forget, The Husband sent pictures from the yard in Idaho. Seems that the deer have finally left me a few flowers to enjoy. Apparently, deer don’t like mint. HA!! I can enjoy flowers AND deer!!! Updates soon!

  • The Advantage of Age!

    Alice in the pool

Getting older has it’s advantages and of course it’s disadvantages as well. The advantage of age far out weigh the disadvantages. I mean, hello the alternative is well….. I’d like to hold off please. I find that I’m starting to care less and less what other people think of me. Really, my husband loves me. My kids love me. Alice adores me (she really belongs first on the list, I mean hello…… she is the cutest Grandkid a NaNa could ever have!!). You guys are here for me with friendship and support. Everyone else? Well, ehhhhh, I’m finding it easier and easier not to care. Another perk is that I don’t have to color my hair anymore. Although, seriously I waffle on that almost daily. I am sooooooo tempted to go red again. Maybe that wasn’t a great advantage to pull up. Let’s continue on…… I’m retired. Okay, that should have been first on the list. I wake up when I want and go to bed when I want. (yeah, yeah, yeah it’s still 9pm but I COULD stay up later if I wanted too). I don’t have to clock in anywhere. If I don’t want to do anything except…
