$50 Your Way Giveaway! November 2024

How is it time for my NOVEMBER giveaway ALREADY!?!? Don’t throw anything at your computer, or toss your phone across the room BUT we are only 62 days away from 2025!!?!??!  I swear when I was in high school I thought 2025 sounded like it was a zillion years away. However, it got here way too dang fast. Also, where is my flying car??

October was busy up here on the mountain. MOSTLY because The Husband got an infection in his eye. Of course it’s the eye that has the monthly shot for Wet Macular Degeneration. To read the entire story (if you are interested) head over to my What I SHOULD Be Doing post. Apparently, The Husband’s eye infection only happens 1 in every 10,000 patients. We are still making the trek to Spokane (2 hours each way) for twice-weekly eye appointments. SO much fun. NOT!!!

My hands are still killing me. With a new twist!! All of a sudden they spasm. For instance as I am typing right now my fingers are shaking ……….. all I can say is THANK heavens for spell check!! You thought my spelling was bad before? With the help of hands that move on their own it’s even worse. Yes, Gloria, I can absolutely repeat your “The joys of getting older!” statement.

Results are back from my MRI.  Now waiting for a call from the Neurosurgery office. Hopefully, I can get in soon. I have a CLASS trip in June. I have to be 100% by then!!

Enough of the boring stuff.

On to the REAL reason you are here!!

Woke at 8, fed the cats, woke at 1.30pm, fed the cats, made a couple of phone calls and am ready to sleep again. Time to get my bloods checked, I think. This can’t be normal & I’ve felt this way for a couple of weeks now.

I am listening to the news at the moment and can’t wait until the election is over. I have a lot of running around to do today making sure I wear my comfy shoes.

I plan on sweeping up around and vacuuming the empty rooms – where does the dust come from? if the mood tickles me a short ride to the sea – want to watch those waves! we are in a yellow for rough seas so it should be dramatic there….

I’m finally going to get HoneyButter’s ashes this week. She’s my guinea pig who would snuggle up beside me and try to tuck herself under my leg when I had her beside me. I miss that little girl so much. She was so much like a dog in the way she was so devoted to me.

    I HATE THE TIME CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am usually wide awake at 6 am …………. today it was 5 am and will be that way for at least a week. So got up got laundry together and down to the laundry room. Only allowed to use between 8am – 10 pm…………… Well the clock in the laundry room when I got there said 7:45 am of course it had NOT been changed. By 8 laundry done put away.

Did a little of this and some of that…………… I had 7 clocks (includes 3 AERO gardens) to reset

About noon decided I needed a nap ……….. 3 hrs later LOL

A lovely, lazy Sunday. Spent the day watching old Bela Lugosi B&W films, doing a bit of tidying-up & planning my week ahead.

My day is going much better now that Giveaway Tools form is working today they were down yesterday on all blogs. Well, I am making a big grocery list and hitting the stores tomorrow ahead of election night. I am going to make sure that I have plenty of adult beverages to make it through the night!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Well the Friday loading day came and went perfectly! Our 2 man team brought all the furniture we are taking 2 bedroom sets, wine frig, 4 book cases and other asst bips and bops plus 235 boxes to the truck loading area in our garage.. the truck man did the rest and it just made it in two 20 foot moving vans….off to the port they went – we actually watched them go down our trace….they will stay at the secure facility of our shipper until 5th then be loaded onto the container and moved to the vessel for sailing on the 11th….
The day was sunny and bright with no rain in sight and for that I was so grateful…
so here we sit with an empty apartment downstairs except for frig and stove and bare bones furniture up here…
I look around here and the memories just flood back – the building of this house – the days we slept in here with no doors or windows just cardboard …. no running water.. cooking on a camp stove….it seemed like an adventure then and now when I think back it seems so unreal…I love this house very much and I hope the new owners make great memories in here too…
Have to get going and put a chicken to roast and grab my book with another cup of coffee….

Oh Michele! I’d no idea you were so far along the moving route. It’ll be like camping in your old home. Time to remember all those old memories. When do you two actually move out? That’ll be tough but exciting at the same time. Best wishes xxx

Then within hte next 1-2 years off to Corfu..Tamra this is it for me, I only have one more big move to navigate and I am truly done…

Since we have not lived in the US for 24 years on Thanksgiving I always bring an assorted selection of my traditional foods to one of my neighbors….

  • Jennifer Wilson

I think when entering I left a link to something else instead of my youtube name. I am JenniferShortJenndiggy and I follow you. LOL I tried to cut and paste, but that worked about as well as anything else in my life the last month!

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is either turkey TV dinners or turkey subs from Sheetz. I know it sounds weird, but one Thanksgiving it was just Mom and me, and our oven was broken, so we went the TV dinner route. We realized how much we enjoyed having the food and not all the work with preparing or clean up. When my husband and I got married he used to work at Sheetz, and got time and a half for holiday. He was required to work 4 hours on Thanksgiving, so we couldn’t visit his family, and by then my Mom had passed. So we started doing turkey subs for Thanksgiving (from Sheetz). He would also volunteer to work 1 or 2 extra shifts (they were 4 hours for that day) so someone else could have the day off. More money for us!

Growing up my favorite item was my grandmother’s stuffing. Actually it was most of her grandchildren’s favorite item.:)!!

I love that the colloer weather is starting to come in and that the fall season is beginning even though it has been here for over a month. It was a gift we were given but then each day is a gift.

  • gloria patterson

Well I have been full of energy today!!! Cleaned bathroom, mopped the floors, vac the rest. Cleaned mirrors and the inside of windows. And then I cleaned out my pantry and got a lot of stuff to take down to the give a way table.

Was working on this entry on the computer and got a knock on the door. Zeola ( great nieces grandmother lives here) had the new great nephew baby, was spending the night with her. This is the first time I got to see him. He let me hold him and was just so sweet. He is only 2 months old but he looks like he is at least 4 or 5 months old.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I have done the bare minimum today, just slept & slept! The weather’s so still & damp outside, I mean 100% humidity but cool!

  • Polly Hall

To cold to do any work out doors so I tried a cookie receipe off of Pinterest. Not very pleased with it, to oily and to sweet, so I will not be making them again.

  • Elizabeth

Watching cooking shows with my mom before I run errands later. (The widget seems to not accept today’s entries yet, even though it was more than 24 hours ago…sigh.)

  • heather

I am waking up here and getting the house warmed up. Not sure if I am headed to the store today or not. I sure have a lot of running around to do but it is so nice and cozy at home with the rain and the fire going.

  • gloria patterson

Quick trip to kroger I carry a fold up cooler so all the cold stuff in it and then off to therapy.

I had my last last therapy session this morning………… going to miss it! But I know the exercises to do it is just getting off my ass and doing them LOL

Put the groceries away, got on the computer for a little bit and then did a kate……………… NAP 2 hrs

  • gloria patterson

Thanksgiving ……………….. we usually have it at my sister in laws home. But one of my nieces is talking she wants to have it at her home this year…………..

Where ever it is I will visit krogers the day before and buy a pie or something……….. NO COOKING FOR ME.

They make bread dressing and to me that is just so gummy………. HATE it but of course I always eat some.

What I like………. Always bring turkey home for leftovers. I always have cornbread stuffing (box) in the cabinet and I will fix that and heat up the turkey, stuffing and cranberries. The perfect leftovers and depending later I might make a sandwich with turkey, dressing and cranberries.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Great, I thought to myself, no rain this week. I should have read the small print: 100% humidity & no wind. All my laundry is stilll hanging on the line, dripping away, days later. Anyhoo, apart from eating most of the goodies I bought for little people coming to the door (I knew none would come, so really I bought them for myself!), not a lot has happened today.

    • gloria patterson

Kate does the candy go half price on Nov 1?????????????? I was at kroger this morning and there were lot of people in the candy aisle stocking up.

I don’t get any kids so I don’t buy it

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s overcast and chilly but that hasn’t stopped the next-door construction. sure hope the eye infection was caught early enough to not have major consequences. sorry your hands are spasming on you. good luck with the neurology consultation. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

My favorite Thanksgiving food will always be my grandma’s cornbread stuffing. I love that stuff. My least favorite is turkey. I go for ham every time, lol.

  • heather

I am getting it in gear for November. Need to change the wall calendar. I can’t believe we change the clocks this weekend. I am making potato soup for dinner with some ham and peas thrown in there too.
