6 Reasons Your Blog Isn’t Earning
Whether we want to admit it or not, most bloggers would like to earn money from their work. You might not have gone into blogging to earn money. You might not even have realized that it was possible in those early days. But you’ll have since learned about bloggers who make a full-time living from their sites. Those that have become well-known offline and have their own range of merchandise. No matter how much you love writing, and your audience, chances are, you’d be happier if you were making money from it. So? Let’s delve into why your blog isn’t earning money every month.
For some, the goal is a career. They’d love to be able to give up work and blog full-time. For others, the goal is pocket money. They don’t want a full-time income. They are just keen for all of their time, hard work and effort to pay off financially. But, a tiny percentage of bloggers manage to earn anything from their websites and even less make anything close to a living. There’s often a simple reason for this. If you have been blogging for a while, and your income isn’t growing, here are six of the possible reasons.
You Don’t Focus on SEO
SEO is crucial if you want your blog to grow, and you need it to grow if you’re going to make money from it. Spend some time learning about SEO, work on Online Marketing, and commit to improving old posts.
You Don’t Treat it like a Business
If you want your blog to be a business, you should be treating it like one. Work at set times, have a schedule, be professional and take your blog, and yourself seriously.
You’re Not Spending Money
Because you can start a blog for free, you might think that you can keep going without spending money. You can, but not professionally. In any other business, you’d have to spend money to make money, and blogging shouldn’t be any different. Spend money on SEO, on a theme and hosting, on premium plugins and a good camera, and your blog will begin to look more professional.
You Focus on One Income Stream
Few bloggers make a significant income from one place. They have adverts and affiliate links. They sell their own products. They work with brands or publish sponsored posts. If you want to make money, explore different ways to do it, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.
You Stick to Your Comfort Zone
Many bloggers are guilty of waiting for work. They expect brands to come to them with offers. But why would they? If you want to work with a brand, pitch to them. You might be nervous or scared of rejection. What have you got to lose? Push yourself out of your comfort zone, start asking for work, and you just might get it.
You Don’t Ask for Money
So many bloggers work for free. Companies, big and small, ask them if they will write about their product or service and they say yes because they are excited to be working with a brand. But, if bloggers are willing to work for free, why would brands ever want to pay? If you want to earn money, you need to start asking for it.

I see a lot of blogs that don’t seem to be trying to earn more money. I sometimes wonder if they really treat it as a business.

These are all good tips. Making and sticking to a schedule are always important for me.

It’s like Dad always said: opportunity doesn’t come knocking on your door – you’ve got to do that for yourself.
