6 Secrets of Happy People
When it comes to being happy, a lot of people can agree there’s room for improvement. It seems like there are more people who could use more happiness in their lives than those who have more than they know what to do with.
The secret is often your state of mind. A meaningful life is all about having a positive outlook. If you’re looking for the insider secrets of what makes happy people so happy, then read on.
They Have Goals
If there’s one thing that gives people the will to wake up every day and try their hardest, it’s goals and dreams. Happy people have goals far off into the future that keeps them excited about life. Whether they hope to build a home of their very own one day or travel the entire world, goals create hope, and hope is closely linked with happiness.
They Like Themselves
Happy people look in the mirror and feel okay with who they are. They’re satisfied overall with who they are inside and out. That’s not to say that they’re full of themselves or egotistical, but they feel absolutely fine with who they are!
They Are Optimistic
Life is full of variables, and you often don’t know what can happen from one minute to the next. However, happy people tend to look on the brighter side of life. When there are two possibilities placed in front of them, they usually choose to believe that the more positive one will happen.
Optimism doesn’t mean assuming nothing bad is ever going to happen to you; it’s simply trying to find the silver lining. If you look closely enough, it’s always there.
They are Independent
If there’s one thing that happy people don’t let get them down, it’s others. Depending on other people can make you feel powerless and too reliant on other people’s approval.
However, people who claim they are the happiest in life are the ones that do their own thing. They don’t need to when other people’s approval to feel happy.
They Have Plenty Of Friends
If there’s one thing that’s important in life, it’s a good support system. Happy people have plenty of friends who are there to give them support when they need it most. It’s important to nurture your friendships and be just as supportive of your friends as you would like them to be for you. Friends are the ones who pick you up when you’re down and remind you that you’re loved.
They Smile
There is something to be said for people who have a constant smile on their face. Even when they’re having a difficult day, happy people make the effort of always smiling at people they pass by in the street. Even though it may not feel genuine at first, a smile can totally change your mentality and actually make you feel happy even when you’re feeling down!

I’m not sure why but I always seem to have days when I get down and blue around Christmas. Maybe it’s stress or missing people we’ve lost or who knows what.

I still have work to do on this, I guess. I’ve been in a rotten mood today, not very happy.

I don’t think these are necessarily secrets. I just think they are more difficult for some than others. I tend to be a pretty happy person. However, I have family that is not. It is so taxing to be with them. I don’t think they are “wired” to be happy. I think contentment is part of that.

Sounds good to me! I recall photos from the early 20th century, they didn’t tend to smile those huge smiles that show you all their gums, too. I wonder if they were less happy than people now, life did seem harder from what we know.
