Almost Naked Animals DVD Review
I’m like a little kid when it comes to cartoons! Yes, it’s one of my guilty pleasures!! I have to admit Almost Naked Animals is a favorite! I was giddy when I was offered “It’s My Party” DVD to review. Yea ME!! I mean YEA for the Grandkids!!!
If you aren’t familiar with Almost Naked Animals it’s on weekdays on the Cartoon Network. Check your local listings for times. Almost naked refers to the ‘cast’ being in their underwear. HEY!! You don’t want naked animals running around on the Cartoon Network do you??
The cast of ANA includes Howie the manager of the beachfront hotel named the Banana Cabana. (Personally, my favorite is his sister Poodle… she’s just MEAN!! and Sarcastic!! I love that in a sister! She runs the nearby ultra ritzy Chateau Chattoo with her sidekick Batty.)
The Banana Cabana staff include Sloth the slowest bell hop ever! Duck the blissfully oblivious ‘handyanimal’, Octo the high strung ocd front desk clerk, Bunny the super hyper activities director, Narwhal the egocentric entertainer and Piggy the highly enthusiastic cook.
On September 25, 2012 Cartoon Networks top rated Almost Naked Animals It’s my Party DVD will be available at Target and other retail stores for $6.99. The DVD includes the first six episodes of Season One and bonus videos including Almost Naked Animals Music Video, Welcome to the Banana Cabana and Howie’s Stunt School. Run time for the dvd is 70 minutes.
Not only will the dvd be available but Cafe Press has partnered with 9 Story Entertainment to launch a new online store featuring Almost Naked t-shirts, notebooks and more.
Check out the “I heart Duck”! canvas bag. HUGE canvas bag! (And I DO love Duck!!) The t-shirts are preshrunk and run large (Narwhal likes his gear roomy!) and are available from small to 4XL in a great array of graphics. I love mine!!
On September 25th ANA will feature an online community so fans can play ANA Cabana Craze where players can run the hotel as Howie, Duck, Octo, Narwhal, Bunny and Piggy.
Cabana Craze will allow players to accrue points and stars while running their own hotels; select consumer retail items will include codes to unlock extra play areas and exclusive videos; once all the codes are collected, an additional mini game will be unlocked.
September is a big month for AMNA they will be joining the line up on Jabbersmack the popular new social networking site for kids and tweens!
Episodes Synopsis:
It’s My Party: Episode 101
While getting ready for a party everyone (except the guests! and Duck) gets trapped in the basement. My all-time favorite line is in this episode “How is THIS even possible?!” I love the adult humor!! Howie needs at least ONE star rating to keep that loving sister Poodle from taking over the Banana Cabana.
Saliva Drive: Episode 102
Dirk Danger (how can you not laugh at that name?!) is holding a contest to find a new sidekick for his next movie. Howie wants this part!! You’ll have to watch to see if he gets the part! Then there is the whole ‘saliva drive’ EWWWWWWWW yea…… just what you are thinking.
One Star Hotel: Episode 103
Howie quits the hotel biz to try to lure his hero Dirk Danger out of retirement. Then there is the whole ‘ear wax elf’ kinda like the tooth fairy only wayyyyy more gross.
What Would Batty Do: Episode 104
A Howie stunt goes very wrong and Batty is injured. Howie has to stand in as his sister Poodles assistant. What could possibly go wrong there?!?! Well, let’s start with the Banana Cabana electrical mishap that leaves Duck with psychic powers! You know Poodle wants Duck for her very own NOW!!
Employee of the Month: Episode 105
Okay this might very well be my favorite episode!! Howie has been awarding himself “employee of the month” for years! Along with the nice gift certificate that comes with the award. I think that’s a GREAT idea, course the rest of the staff isn’t as generous when they find out!!
Duck Vinci Code: Episode 106
When the Banana Cabana runs out of food (Thanks to Poodle), Howie plants a ‘magic bean’ that grows into a monstrous animal swallowing plant! When Howie is stuck inside the Chateau Chattoo and his friends are stuck outside in a ketchup, mustard and relish hurricane!
Almost Naked Animals is great for 6- to 11-year-olds. There is some violence … lots of ‘seeing’ stars. But I believe that younger and older kids will enjoy the fast-paced cartoon as well. Alice is a year old and she watched all the mayhem and didn’t budge! I know she didn’t understand a single second, but the action kept her entertained!
