Have More Family Fun This Fall
From long walks in the fading sunlight to Thanksgiving celebrations, there is lots to look forward to in Fall. While the temperatures might drop, there’s still plenty of family fun to be had before winter sets in. If you want to make the most of the season, find out how to have more family fun this Fall now:
Visit a pumpkin patch
If you plan on carving jack-o-lanterns and trick or treating, you can start the season off by picking your very own pumpkins. A trip to a pumpkin patch is a must-do fall activity for many families, so why not make it an annual tradition? As well as getting the best pumpkins for your Halloween creations, you can pick the ripest fruit for pumpkin pies, muffins, and even soups.
Go on a nature trail
A nature trail is the perfect family activity because it can be tailored to suit everyone. Simply grab your wet weather gear, fall shirts, and walking boots and set off in search of your destination. Younger kids will love spotting Fall leaves and insects, so prepare a checklist for them to tick off along the way. For tweens and teens, a trip hiking can be the perfect way to spend time together as a family.
Have a popcorn and movie night
You can have a popcorn and movie night any time of year but there’s something special about hosting an at-home film festival in the Fall. Whip up some hot chocolate, put the popcorn on the stove, and snuggle down in your best PJs to catch up on your favorite family-friendly movies.
Go camping
When winter sets in, you may not get the chance to go camping for a few months, so now is the time to make the most of being outdoors. Load up the car and take a trip to your favorite camping spot while the weather is still fine. Alternatively, make an adventure of camping in your backyard and spend a night under the stars.
Go to local festivals
Take a look at your local paper or your town’s website and you’ll find plenty of festivals taking place in Fall. From Halloween haunted houses to science fairs, there is plenty to keep everyone interested. No matter where you live, chances are you won’t have to travel far to find a festival, event, or fair that’s tailored towards families.
Get crafting
Kids love crafting at any time but it’s the perfect activity for when the wet and windy weather stops you from spending time outside. You’ll have hours of fun making Thanksgiving decorations, cotton candy monsters for Halloween, and egg carton turkeys, so get your supplies ready to go!
Family Fun on a Budget
Spending time together as a family doesn’t necessarily mean blowing your budget on expensive tickets, eating out, or shopping sprees. In fact, there are plenty of Fall activities that don’t cost a thing. With a little ingenuity and creativity, you can have more family fun this Fall without spending anything!

When I was little I loved going for forest walks & collecting berries & leaves. Then I’d press some for framing & make collages from the rest.

Thanks for the family fall fun suggestions. We’ve done most of these except for visiting a pumpkin patch and going to local festivals (which have mostly been cancelled).

I’d love to go to some of the festivals but it seems there are too many visitors who just don’t want to socially distance. I can’t risk it. Hopefully, next year.
