Karma AND Spiders
Karma. It’s one of those things that will come back around and bite you in the tush every single time!! Big Karma, little Karma. Spider Karma. Yup. It came back around to me alright.
Here is a little background; my sister’s boyfriend is afraid of spiders. Cracks me UP!! Seriously, I guess I never think of men as being afraid of small rodents or spiders. I always take it for granted that the men in the family catch mice, kill spiders. End of story. Then when I had Grandkids I learned to help them be brave I had to kill my own spiders. I mean really, I out weigh a spider a zillion to one right? Smash it. I just smash it. (Of course I still take off my shoe to do it! I’m not totally crazy brave!!) However, men. Men kill spiders. Men kill spiders with their bare hands. Right?
WRONG!! Sister’s boyfriend, nope not killin’ em. NO way!! He is NOT going to do it. EVER!! So of course every single spider cartoon I found on Facebook I posted to him. Yes, every single video, picture and story. I mocked and I laughed.
Come on that’s funny!!
Yes, I do think I’m funny.
Okay, so you get the idea. Spiders funny. I was having a great time!!
UNTIL!! Yup, you guessed it. Karma. In my craft room I found a spider. A BIG spider. I thought that it would be funny to take a picture of this BIG spider for the sisters boyfriend. I reached for my phone and by the time the camera came on the BIG spider was gone. Behind the big bookcase. This is a solid bookcase that is so large it can’t be moved. THAT’s where the BIG spider lives. I know it’s growing a huge family of BIG spiders I JUST know IT!! Karma!! She is a nasty #*%^!! Spiders should never be mocked!
Not 24 hours later an offer to review Stay Away Spiders from Earthkind arrived in my email. I jumped at the chance. It was that or close up the craft room until ohhhhh the 12th of never!!
Stay Away Spiders is made with oils of Citronella, Lemongrass and Rosemary. This is a non-toxic pouch that is safe around kids and pets. Which is very important! NO chemicals! NO chemical smells!! All natural and it smells great!!
Kari Warberg Block, pest prevention expert and founder of EarthKind® and Stay Away® natural pest prevention products, offers a few tips to keep spiders out naturally without using harmful pesticides.
KEEPING SPIDERS AT BAY:
-
Spiders don’t have a favorite song. Spiders don’t have good eyesight, so they rely on vibrations they feel in their web to detect an insect that could be their next meal. Turn music on in an area where you’ve spotted spiders and the vibrations will interfere with their ability to pick the perfect time to feast. They’ll quickly leave in search of a quieter spot.
-
Shine a bright light on spiders. Spiders would prefer to be left alone. That’s why they hang out in dark places. Notice
an area of your home where spiders are weaving their webs? Leave the lights on and they’ll be looking for a new hideaway. -
Remove spider webs. To make your home less attractive to spiders, wash old webs off outside areas with a garden hose — particularly under roof eaves. To prevent spiders from spinning new ones, use a spray made of half a cup of water, half a cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of liquid dish soap and twenty drops of thyme oil. The scented mixture prevents them from attaching their silk to sprayed surfaces.
-
Block their entryways. Get out a magnifying glass and look for tiny cracks in your home. Seal any openings you nd with caulk, screening or weather stripping. Spiders will be on their way to a more inviting household.
-
Nuts drive spiders nuts. Place a few chestnuts on windowsills and along baseboards in your home. The scent repels them. One whiff and they’ll be looking for a new place to weave their webs. (Avoid leaving horse chestnuts around the house. They can be toxic to humans if eaten raw.)
-
Invest in a natural spider repellent, like Stay Away® Spiders ?. Made with Citronella, Lemongrass and Rosemary, Stay Away® Spiders disrupts a spider’s sophisticated senses, keeping them out of treated areas with a scent pleasant to people, but offensive to spiders. Use one pouch anywhere webs or spiders are noticed, such as basements, closets and attics, increasing the number of pouches until desired results are obtained.
Great hints! Right??
WHINES
As for the craft room I have not seen a single spider since I added Stay Away Spiders?. My office smells great. I’m not worried that the dog or the Grandkids can be harmed with fumes, spiders or poisons. I’m thoroughly pleased. I’ve also stopped mocking the boyfriend. Lesson learned Karma! Lesson learned!
Added bonus! Stay Away Spider, Ants, Rodents and Moths are all available at places I already shop like Target, Lowes and more!!

I’d never heard that about chestnuts! How do they work out that it’s the smell that spiders don’t like?+

Oh, I can’t even sleep if I see a bug & it gets away from me! (It comes from seeing an episode of Life In The ER where someone came in with a bug in their ear! EEEEEK!!) I had no idea spiders were freaked out by music!

I had no idea spiders don’t like nuts, that sounds crazy! I can’t/won’t kill spiders – just use the cup and paper trick and take them outside.

OMG that is just too funny, Connie! 🙂 I am afraid of spiders but not nearly as afraid of spiders as my very best friend, who happens to be… a man. LOL. So your sister’s boyfriend ain’t alone! 😉

Well there you go, what goes around comes around! I just pick them up & chuck them out the window. They’re happy, I’m happy and no animal was hurt in the making of this movie!
