Natural Carved Wooden Wall Mirror ‘Mataram Rococo’ #MataramRococoMIrror
Like everything in my life I am a very eclectic in my decorating style. I like having different styles, colors and even types of frames for my art work. I love having unique arrangements on my walls; adding my new Natural Carved Wooden Mirror called the Mataram Rococo really adds flair to my wall.
Once again Novica proves to me that I really do want one of everything!!
Starting with packaging. WOW!! My new mirror arrived wrapped, double wrapped, triple wrapped…. actually I lost track of how many times I unwrapped a layer! So trust me, there wasn’t a single nick, scratch or ding anywhere on this mirror.
Hand carved by an exceptional artisan Sarwaedi, this mirror is 15.25″ wide by 12″ tall and 0.8″ deep. This mirror weighs in at almost 4 pounds. Made with Suar Wood the mirror is beautifully detailed and even signed on the back!! This mirror is designed to hang vertically, there is already a fixture attached to the back which was really a nice perk.
About this item: Mataram, now the name of a city on the Indonesian island of Lombok, was once the name of both an Islamic sultanate and a Hindu-Buddhist kingdom in Java. The talented Sarwaedi in Bali names this hand-carved wood mirror after the diverse and historically rich region. The mirror, which has a beautifully rococo style, is crafted from richly grained suar wood with a natural finish.
About our Artist: ‘I was born in Sukawati, Gianyar in Bali on April 21 1970. In the town where I grew up, most people are wood carvers, and so was my family. I learned wood sculpture by watching my parents. In those days, children began learning the art at a young age and I was not alone. Today, I continue working with wood, but I’m focusing on making vases and classic boxes. I give unique finishes to my designs to distinguish them from the others.’
Once again I have to sing the praises of NOVICA! Each piece they sell is a fair trade product; partnering with National Geographic. NOVICA works with talented artist all over the world, bringing us beautiful treasures and paying the artists a fair wage.
