The Actual Benefits of Yoga, and How Loungewear Can Assist You
Believe it or not, benefits of yoga have been scientifically proven to be one of the best physical activities one can engage in, even more in the long-term run, since it can improve several aspects of our health, and make it so when we grow older, our body and mind work better.
But what is Yoga, and how does it work? Well, the answer is very simple.
Yoga as Physical Training
Yoga can be easily described as a form of exercise with physical benefits, but it englobes much more than that since it is also a form of mental and spiritual practice. That is why, as indicated over here, it can be practiced to reduce stress, relieve anxiety, and bring a quality-of-life improvement to several aspects of your being.
Physically speaking, yoga is said to strengthen muscles and bones, reduce inflammation, increase blood flow and alleviate pain. It also reduces the likelihood of suffering from certain inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases.
Overall, it is a way to remain healthy even during our senior days, thanks to the strengthening factors of the practice. Not only that, but it also has a lot of mental benefits as well!
Yoga as a Mental and Emotional Practice
As mentioned earlier, yoga can also enter the category of mental and emotional practice, since it can help us fight commonly found problems in today’s society, such as stress, anxiety, sleeping disorders, and even depression.
This is due to the fact that we, as human beings, tend to live fast-paced lives that don’t allow us to reconsider our lives and take time to stop ourselves and think about the attributes that really matter.
The simple act of engaging in physical activity, while we focus on our breath, can bring a lot of peace to our minds and hearts, but it can be difficult since it is very similar to meditation, but as mentioned over here https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324839#2.-Improved-self-control, meditation also has several benefits.
Meditation can help a lot when it comes to things like improving our focus, self-control, our will, and improving our overall brain health. It might be difficult to believe, but meditation has been proven to change our brain’s structure. More specifically speaking, the pre-frontal cortex.
This area of the brain is known for being in charge of concentration, awareness, and decision-making skills. If meditation is combined with yoga, we can enjoy all physical, mental, and emotional benefits at the same time.
Things to Consider When Doing Yoga
A very important aspect of this activity is flexibility. You need to be flexible to a certain extent to be able to perform some of the poses involved in it, so it is very normal to have some limitations.
With that said, these limitations are only reduced the more you practice, so a very wise thing to do is understand these limitations to act accordingly. Another thing to keep in mind is the clothes you wear.
You need to wear clothes that you can work with, and that’s why we recommend clothes for working out, and yoga loungewear by Om & Ah might one of the best options out there. It makes the whole process much comfortable for you, and highly reduces the risk of injuries and sprains.
When we talk about this specific type of exercising, it is very normal to not be able to perform certain poses during the beginning of the journey. The most common pose, the full lotus pose, is among the most popular stances you can try, but a lot of people struggle with it because it requires a lot of flexibility.
No worries, though! There are always easier poses to try, and if you can’t handle the full lotus pose, you can always try the half lotus pose. The main idea is to work on your flexibility as you go and start with things that are suitable for beginners.
The more you practice, and the more effort you put into it, the more flexible you will become, while your muscles and bone become even stronger. This will allow you to try newer poses, which will bring even more benefits, considering that our bodies tend to get used to the same exercises, which reduces their efficiency.

I did a bit of elementary ballet when I was little and can still do the splits!

Being in a wheelchair I can’t do most yoga poses. But I would consider doing what I can for the benefits of the meditation aspects of it.

People who can do the really advanced yoga moves are pretty impressive. I remember trying as a teenager to do that thing where you sit with your legs crossed and both feet on top of the legs…couldn’t do it.

I’ve always wanted to try yoga. Of course, now, with my current condition, it’s probably not possible.
