The Non’s Killer Beans
This is called multi-tasking. Amber, my son Zachary’s girlfriend wanted another of his favorite recipes The Non’s Killer Beans. I would write it out here too. How smart am I?! Okay, fine ………. it’s just easier to type on the laptop than typing it all out on my phone. So, HECK, lets just make a post our of it.
Truly!!!! This is a REALLY good recipe especially when it’s cold outside. I promise it sounds weird but it works!! It’s SUPER easy to make. Tastes even better day two! It’s easy to double or quadruple.
ADDED bonus is it can be done in the insta-pot or the crock-pot OR stove top pot.
Everything is done in one pot. I personally use my insta-pot YES, it has a vinyl saying on it. (trust me if it sits still long enough in my house it GET’s VINYL!!)
Non’s Killer Beans and now YOUR Killer Beans
This recipe is for 4 people. Easily doubles.
½ pound ground beef
½ pound bacon
Brown both together. Drain. I do this in the insta-pot because there is no mess and it’s all in one pot.
1 can pork and beans 15 oz
1 can red kidney beans 15 oz
1 can butter beans 15 oz
1 can white navy beans 15 oz
I can garbanzo beans 15 oz
Dump each can into the pot.
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
½ bottle of Liquid Smoke (This is really to taste. I LOVE this spice so I add the full ½ bottle you can add less or more)
If you like a little kick add a few shakes of crushed red pepper
Salt and pepper.
Let cook until you can’t stand it any more!! I usually make this in the morning and let it cook on low until dinner. 3 or 4 hours. It is ready to serve as soon as it’s warmed all the way through.
Taste often and more Liquid Smoke, ketchup or brown sugar to taste.
This is and has been a family favorite in our family for over 30 years. It’s so good!!! I swear I could make this every week and never get tired of it.

I was just looking for a good hamburger recipe, I haven’t made this yet! Sounds like it would work in the slow cooker, too!
Leela
That looks fantastic! The bacon must make everything taste twice as good.
Connie Gruning
Leela, BACON! The meat candy! LOL!
Kate Sarsfield
Liquid smoke? Golly, what will you Americans think of next 😉 Heading to Google …
Connie Gruning
Kate, I am never ever without my Liquid Smoke. YUMMMMY!
Sarah L
Yes, you managed to get two things done with one post. Looks yummy and I love the vinyl on the pot.
Connie Gruning
Sarah, Thank you. See? I really do put vinyl on everything that sits still long enough.
Rosie
This does look good. It reminds me of the days when I had an antique wood stove, and in the winter would often have a cauldron of beans cooking all day, and wet mittens drying on an upper shelf, sometimes adding some apple wood found in a nearby orchard. The scent of the apple wood and beans cooking would be so inviting. Do you add the liquid in the cans of beans, too? I haven’t tried liquid smoke yet, you say you love it, I have to try it!
Connie Gruning
Rosie, that sounds so wonderful a big ‘ole wood stove. Sounds heavenly. You paint a beautiful picture.
Yes, I do add all the juice of the beans. It’s seriously so easy and soooooooo good!!
Dana Rodriguez
These look so delicious. I love how you decorated your pot LOL!
Connie Gruning
Dana, thank you. I have so much fun with my vinyl sayings. One of my favorite is my apron that states: “Don’t make me poison your dinner!”
In other words stay out of the kitchen I’m WORKING HERE!!
