• Anabella Giggles All Day! Children’s Picture Book

    Anabella giggles all day book

Is there anything sadder than a sick two year old??  (okay, besides husbands??!?) Poor Alice caught a little 24 hour bug. All she wanted was to be held, cuddled, rocked and read Anabella Giggles All Day! for about 50 times. I can’t resist the “again NaNa, again!”  I’m not sure if it’s the beautiful illustrations or the sing-song story, but I finally coaxed a smile out of Alice by the end of the 50th reading!!   Anabella Giggles All Day is written by Nev Nickelz and illustrated by Mariah Grace. Alice loves the bright colors and wonderful illustrations. Anabella Giggles All Day is done in a lot of pinks and purples which happen to be Alice’s favorite colors. I love that it’s a downloaded book and on my iPad, meaning I have it with me everywhere! (especially helpful in the doctors waiting room!!)  Anabella Giggles All Day! teaches kids about friendship and of course giggling. The book has perfect lyrical rhyming pages that just flow off your tongue. The story not only makes Alice smile, but me as well! Anabella loves giggling, but when Anabella starts giggling at her bossy best friend, their friendship is challenged. Because her feelings are hurt, Anabella’s best…

  • Handle Your Childs “Is Santa Real?” Questions With Confidence!

The holiday season is right around the bend, which means it’s almost time for Christmas carols and gingerbread house decorating parties! For many parents, this year will also be the first time that their kiddos ask the big “Is Santa Real” question, which could be tough to answer. It makes parents wonder, should I be honest and tell the truth about Santa? Is my child ready to hear it? Not to worry! Parenting expert Daddy Nickell has the scoop on what to do when your child starts asking about Santa Claus. His tips below should help you handle the situation with confidence and ease! Take a step back and breathe:  When your child comes to you questioning if Santa is real and asking you, the parent, to confirm – one way or the other – take a step back and a deep breath before responding. This will give you a moment to gather your thoughts and answer in the best way possible. Ask what inspired the questions: Begin by asking your child why they’re asking this question in the first place. Did they hear something from another child at school? Or did they determine on their own that “Santa’s job” is seemingly impossible? If they’ve thought about it long enough and critically…

  • Confidence Building Tips for Mature Dating

    Smiling couple

If you’re over 50 and just getting back into dating, it may feel like an entirely different world if you haven’t been out there for a while. These days many couples meet online, and if dating wasn’t hard enough on its own, navigating this new world of technology plus romance may seem a little daunting. The most important quality in dating – both online and in person – is confidence, and that may be hard to fake if you’re feeling a little unsure about being back out there. Here are a few tips to help develop confidence in this new world of dating. Refresh Yourself If it’s been a while since you’ve purchased a new outfit, had a haircut, or tried new cosmetics, why not treat yourself? A manicure and pedicure can help you feel your best as well. There’s no need to become someone you’re not – at this age you’re probably pretty settled into who you are and what fashion choices you like. Just enhance and showcase those things. Once you’ve done so, ask a friend to take some photos of you if you’re trying online dating. Typically photos where you’re smiling and look natural and relaxed tend to get the best attention. Try to post an…

I’m Refreshing My Blog (and Bust Ghosts) Updating old blog content is a bit like digital archaeology: you head in to dust the archives and end up unearthing questionable life choices from years ago.
