  • Alphabet Flash Cards from Educational Toy Planet

I spend my days with my two year old Granddaughter Alice. We have lots of play time, but, I make sure we have learning time too.  I’m always on the lookout for educational items that keep Alice interested!!  These Alphabet Flash Cards from Educational Toy Planet fits the bill!! The cards are large and easy to hold for Alice. Each card has a bright colorful item on one side that corresponds to the letter on the other side.  A for Apple and so on.  The deck has 52 cards. Upper and lower case letters. We use the Alphabet Cards in several ways.  *Letter side up I ask Alice to match the upper and lower case letters.  *With the picture side up, I ask Alice to name the item. For instance Apple, I’ll ask her “What does Apple start with?”  *Next I ask Alice to match the picture with the letter it starts with.   So many possibilities!  These could be used so many different ways!  The deck comes with a parent card that offers game instructions.  Alphabet Flash Cards are thick card stock with rounded corners! No sharp corners for Alice!  Involve your child in the joy of learning the ABC.…

  • Texas Tech Findings for Spark and Kids with ADHD

    spark Drink from Advocare

My last blog post about AdvoCare and especially the Spark drink I mentioned that Spark is great for kids that have ADHD.  Here is a letter from Texas Tech University that talks about that research. SC SCHNEIDER, GB TAN, DR EGERTON, TW HALE. TX Tech Univ. HSC, Amarillo, TX 79106 Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has become a prominent disorder in children, adolescents, and adults. This study, conducted from May through September 1998, compared the effectiveness of a nutritional beverage, SPARK, which is marketed by Advocare International, with methylphenidate when administered to children (6-17) previously diagnosed with ADHD. This beverage contains neuro-active ingredients such as choline, GABA, phenylalanine, and taurine. The study was a placebo-controlled, double-blind study randomly assigning 72 subjects to three treatment groups: methylphenidate group, the nutritional beverage group and a caffeine group…
