Hard to believe that this is the last day in January! I am not sad to see it gone. We have had good weather for the last 2 days and the coming week some day are in the 50’s!!!

AND I SAW 3 PEOPLE IN SHORTS AND NO JACKETS TODAY

Quick trip to kroger and put everthing away. Did a LITTLE of this and not much of that.

THEN RECLINER STARTED TO YELL AT ME……………. So I did a Kate…………. 3 hr nap

  • l p

  • heather

We are finally getting some rain here and it is wonderful! It was so warm when I woke up this morning. I was sick of that arctic cold.

  • Polly Hall

I planned on having one of those days that I didn’t do much but I ended up dusting and doing the vacuuming. It makes me feel good when I do get stuff done.

  • gloria patterson

KATE — IS back & just posted on Connie’s facebook she had a interesting week!!!

Yesterday at the discount store I found this painting/w-watercolors of a cat’s face (bold colors) though my great niece would like………… This morning I opened it got bright colored sharpies out and started working on it. A little there, some here……. enjoying doing this.

Made tuna salad will have it later. Had left over cold mac & cheese for breakfast.

SUN IS SHINNING AND NEXT WEEK IS WARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND THE DAY IS GETTING LONGER …………. It was almost 6 last night when it got dark!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that the only way I can comment today is by replying to someone else’s comment, so I will do that. I tried going home from the hospital Friday, by Monday I was back at the hospital. Just too weak. I had to listen to the advice to go briefly to an assisted care facility. So, for February, I am in a nursing home. The physical therapy program seems really good. I’m up and around several times a day and building strength. I’m very motivated to leave since it’s not a reminder of anything good for me. Hopefully, it goes well and with no setbacks. Viral pneumonia definitely took me down!

      • gloria patterson

        Tamra
I am happy that you are there. You will get to recover is a safe place and hopefully that will help you learn how to do things safely. The therapy is going to help you a lot.

Pneumonia is nothing to fool around with. It took me two weeks after I got prescriptions to just get my energy back. And I was no way kicked in the butt like you were.

Just add Pneumonia shots to your yearly TO DO LIST

Take care and do what you are told!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • heather

Happy to see form is back! Just catching up on some laundry here today and cleaning the house. Thinking crunchy tacos for dinner with refried beans on the side.

BUT this was NOT THE ONLY BLOGGER ENTRY FORM AFFECTED……… Several other that have contest going were down to.

So Connie STOP eating that chocolate the ghost was not after just you LOL

Ran a few errands came home and got company. Great niece’s grandmother was taking care of her 3 month old nephew for the day. When she has him she always brings him down to see me. Nothing like time with a baby to make you smile. He is a BIG boy, he is wearing 12 month old clothes and they are getting tight. His grandpa is 6 1/2 feet tall.

After they left I did a little of this and not much of that

  • l p

Our power was out for over 12 hours 4:00 pm yesterday to 4:30 am this morning, thank goodness we have a generator or it would have been a very good night

  • heather

My day is going pretty good so far ‘knock on wood’. Except for the giveaway tool not working but it’s not working on other blogs too. I really like this giveaway form it’s the best so hope they get it working soon.

  • Kal

It’s been a good day here. Not a cloud in the sky and very little traffic. I had a bunch of appointments to attend and was able to get them all taken care of faster than I thought I would. Yay!

  • Polly Hall

The power has gone out a little after 4 this afternoon thank goodness for our generator. It’s 7:30 now, I hope it gets fixed before we go to bed.

  • gloria patterson

This morning when I left it was only 24 but it didn’t feel that cold.. When I got home it was 35 had my coat opened no hat or scraft.

Received a free coupon for a car wash on my over tthere…………….. WOW there are some major potholes on our streets. It was like a obstacle course thank goodness I was following some body. When I got to the car wash there was a least 20+ cars/trucks in line. But the line moved fast.

A little of this and not much of that…………………. my day is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STILL NO WORD FROM KATE .. HOPING THAT IT IS JUST HER PHONE OR NO SERVICE FROM THE WIND

  • Susan Smith

It’s such a nice day today (for January) that I have my windows open. I took my dog Bailey for a walk, did laundry and ran some errands.

the day is going well. woke up to an unexpected sunny day so it’s an outside errand day, started with grocery shopping for a neighbour. enjoy your day. thanks

  • heather

It is below freezing here and I am working on warming up the house. The living room looks like Noah’s Ark right now. We have two dogs in the house and two of our indoor/outdoor cats are in to keep warm. The cats want out but I keep telling them no it’s too cold and the sun isn’t even up yet. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

  • gloria patterson

Laundry done and put away………….. breakfast made a bacon sandwich with mayo and tomatoes, was so good!

Read the sunday paper………….. not sure what I am going to do

NAP OR NEW BOOK OR FINDING A MOVIE ON TV ????

Facebook Kate again to see if she and kids made it through the WIND!!!

  • Michele Soyer

I have been up since half 4am and raring to go but nothing to do…I will dust here and there and decide what to make for Sunday lunch…Tomorrow off to the new home thank goodness I have work to do there!

  • Tamra Phelps

Today was one of those 1st day home from the hospital days. I feel exhausted, trying to figure out new medical equipment is not fun. And I am very aware of how weak I still feel. They took off about 30 pounds of basically water weight, but they don’t realize how weak that leaves you. Still, at least I feel I can breath! They finally know what was causing that.

    • gloria patterson

      Tamra
By any wild chance do you have a walker or a cane???? Either one of them would help you get around more safely.

Either stay in bed, or the recliner (with drinks & snacks near by) read, watch TV, what ever just relax and recharge

Do they have Dr apointments yet up for you???

      I would say if I can do anything…………… B U T

  • Polly Hall

My husband whated prime rib so we drove a half hour to a place that serves it only on Fri and Sat. He is very happy now and that is important.

  • gloria patterson

I don’t know what I have done today. Got up made a cup of tea decided I needed a nap. Slept over 2 hrs.

Made some thing to eat, watched a little tv, on the laptop…………….

    NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • heather

I am off to the library this morning. I have an item that is like three days late and they are sending emails and calling the house! WTH – calm down I’m bringing it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I better hurry up before they send someone out to knock on the front door. Have a nice Saturday.

  • Michele Soyer

It is 25 degrees outside so I believe after breakfast I will take a turn around the neighbourhood and stop in the closest bakery…then back here for my book and more coffee…

  • l p

the day is going well. cleaning house in preparation for this week-end’s family visits. makes the work lighter to think of them coming. enjoy your week-end. thanks

  • gloria patterson

It was a little warmer this morning when I was off to kroger……………… 18 degrees

Ran a couple of errands, most of the roads are looking good a few icy spots here and there. The snow is trying to melt one DROP AT A TIME!!

We are having a HEAT WAVE next week… we are in the mid 30’s and on Sat calling for 42 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People will be wearing shorts and no coats

Did a Kate when I got home 2 hr nap!

    • Michele Soyer

Gloria yesterday I made a trip to Trader Joe and there were folks in there in flip flops with no socks and windbreakers! I guess 0 degrees is a Minnesota summer..lol..

      • gloria patterson

        Michele

I have to admit that we get used to 25 and when it hit 30 its like a heat wave. When I go out coat, scraft, hood up, gloves………….. so cold. Couple hrs later no hood up, coat not zipped…….. WE ARE NUTS.

A few more months of winter in Minnesota and you will forget to button/zip your coat LOL

  • heather

I am off to my favorite deli today. I am addicted to their sliced pepper turkey and no other deli as it like this one store. My trip to the doctors office yestersay turned out to be three hours of fun. lol I am going to add a few things to my ‘Keep Heather Sane Bag’. I want to get a few of those puzzle books the ones with word finds and crossword puzzles. Oh and also some jerky. I gotta admit everyone in the waiting room looked a little jealous of my Sanity bag! lol

  • Michele Soyer

Another very productive dya yesterday – vents cleaned in the dryer and a new exhaust installed..he aslo pulled the washer out and cleaned that etc….all deliveries came and so today is a trip to the internet provider to handle that…once again I must say how grateful I am….

  • gloria patterson

Need to go out so did a quick trip to walmart and got SALT to use on my parking space. They only had a pet friendly salt bag available……………. 20 lbs for $21.00 I got it .. the snow melts, then freezes, then melts……… so hopefully I will get a small path along side my car snow & ice free

Had to go to the bank I needed quarters for laundry.

Kids were in school to day but it was 2 hr delay COLD temp

  • Polly Hall

I been working on photos most of the day I want to make a book on Shutterfly while they have free pages so I need to get it finished in the next few days

  • heather

I am taking a loved one to a medical appointment today and these appointments usually last for a few hours so I am packing a ‘Keep Heather Sane Bag’. I will be taking my tablet, a book, some unopened mail, some magazines, drinks, candy and snacks. The older I get the more I find I need a sanity bag more and more.

  • Michele Soyer

As soon as it is light outside we will go to the new house…New cookware is arriving today so I just might cook there today…

  • Tamra Phelps

The doctor hasn’t settled on what brought on this pneumonia but he does want to look at COPD, like Gloria mentioned. There may be tests in my near future! They have pulled over 20 pounds in fluid off of me in 2 days. A sleep apnea test is something I have always dreaded but I may need one.

    • gloria patterson

Tamra You know what they say ………… YOU WERE FULL OF IT!!!

“sleep apnea test” I have had the one where you stay overnight and they hook you up and record. And have had the one where you take the equipment home and read the how to and do it. On both of them right to sleep and test said NO on me.

As for the breathing test they are made to make you feel stupid. Any body should be able to breath they way they tell you .. breath, hold. etc, etc………… but have so many problem breathing like they tell me to. One time I even had to use a tread mill.

ONCE you know and get some meds you will start to feel better. Take it easy do what you are told

  • gloria patterson

I think ……………. “hell is freezing over”

All this snow, ice and cold ever where!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is 11:32 and we 8 degrees and THE SUN IS SHINNING and hopefully melting some snow. I have to get bundled up later and go out and clean my car off and HOPE it starts.

They MIGHT have school on Thursday high of 29 !!!
They might delay start time, at 8am they are calling for 7 degrees.

Could not sleep last night might fell asleep around 3 am and my eyes popped open at 6 am

    STAY WARM AND SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • heather

It is super cold here this morning and I just can’t seem to warm up. I am kind of dreading getting out of the shower this morning. I hate being cold and wet! lol

  • Michele Soyer

We got a good deal yesterday at the house.. Handyman came and installed the new thermostats, adjusted the heat in the walk-in pantry ( it was too warm) …got deliveries of pillows, blankets etc assorted linens and a delivery of cleaning supplies..
Thursday the dryer man is coming to change the venting, clean the hoses out and move the washer out and clean behind it all..So today is a stay put day .. have to check out sideboards and china cabinets, so glad I didn’t bring mine they would have been way too big for the dining room…

      • Michele Soyer

Thank you for the kind words. The bips and bobs I have gone thru seem so trivial compared to what you are going through – I hope and pray you get better everyday…

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, I am in the hospital. Turns out the breathing issue I have that nobody could figure out has at this point become pneumonia. I spent most of last night and today on one of those cpap machines. It breathed while I slept mostly, lol. I do feel much better, so hopefully this will actually be a weird blessing. Problem found and solved. I have spent months trying to explain to various doctors how I feel I can’t get a full deep breath. They would check the obvious suspects but it just wasn’t the right suspect.

    • Michele Soyer

I am sorry to hear this Tamra. you are in the right place to get better..All my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery…

    • gloria patterson

Tamra Pneumonia will kick your ass! Didn’t any of those Drs take lung xrays?? I have COPD so I am very much aware of any time my breathing changes. When they have this cleared up hopefully they will send you to a pulmonary Dr. It never hurts

Take care rest up and feel better soon.

  • KaLei

I’m having a great day. I was batch-cooking to fill the freezer and then went out for a walk in the neighbourhood. It’s just a gorgeous day so I had to take advantage of it.

I think WV people are kinda nuts. It was almost 30 when I left for Kroger this morning. A lot of people in there DID NOT have on coats most just had on vest. At 4:11 pm it is 40 outside, sun shine, snow melting. Coming thru town I saw a woman that just had long sleeve sweater on and she had 2 little kids and they just had sweaters on. UPS man had a couple of boxes for me. He just had a vest on.

And yes I admit I had a coat on, not zipped, no gloves……………. We are nuts

  • l p

the day is going well. met with some friends for tea and had lovely time. my turn to bring the goodies so I packed up some favourites – and didn’t bring anything home. enjoy the week-end, everyone. thanks

  • heather

I am getting in the serious shopping for a new computer mode. I went to Costco yesterday and looked then came home and found one online at Bestbuy that looks like it might just be the one. The one at Bestbuy was on sale for only like a few more hours when I found it. I hate it when they do that I’m not going to rush this kind of a purchase and what sale ends on a Thursday?

  • Michele Soyer

Well my suit is ready, heels polished, today is the day…you would think I never have done this before…this is different, feels so wonderful…champagne in the frig….and to top it off it is not 4 degrees today it is 30!!

  • l p

the day is going well despite the early start caused by a robocall before 5 AM. not nice. went out early to avoid the miserable weather that was supposed to come. guess the early start was a good thing. enjoy your day. thanks

  • heather

My computer is giving me all kinds of problems lately! I am just about fed up with it. I already started doing some serious window shopping for a new one and sooooooooooon!

  • Michele Soyer

Sitting here by the front window and as dark as it is by the street light I can see the snow falling…It has been snowing off and on since later yesterday afternoon…I might dress well and take a walk after breakfast – I am waiting for tomorrow and wishing time away which is terrible! LOL

  • gloria patterson

My niece does haircuts here in our building once a month. Charges $20 for cut and is here from 9:30 – 12:30

NO school today more snow and COLD COLD COLD

Great niece came with her and she decided she wanted to stay with me instead of going with her mom to the shop. That girl was only here for a little over 4 hours. She had turkey sandwich & chips, heated up her leftover sausage biscuit, crackers and cheese, baby pasta one bowl with red sauce and other small bowl with butter………. garlic bread and oranges.

She is always fun to be around……………. tired need a nap but to late in the day

  • Polly Hall

A good day, spoke to my girl friend on the phone that has the autoimmune diseases and have made plans to go and visit her. She lives over 2 hours away so I’ll get a motel so I do not have to do so much driving in one day.

  • Michele Soyer

  • gloria patterson

WHY is it that SOME men will NOT listen to a word that a woman has to say about a slow kitchen drain. Told him last week he was going to have to get the big guns out. NO he did the sucken and pour stuff down the drain. And this week he tried all that stuff again. And he ended up having to get the electric pipe clean out. And I now have a kitchen drain that drains LOL

  • gloria patterson

Well it is 11:26 am and I have been up since 6 am………….. and the only thing I have done is fix breakfast LOL

Got maintence back on my drain problem………. he is trying to plunger it again and pour more stuff down the drain. Last year he had to open the pipes under the sink and use (what ever it is called) brush/wire to clean a big clog out.

It is 13 here today and I am NOT going out in it. Plans for the day alittle computer work then got a new book and a NAP!!!

  • heather

I am off to the library this morning and then a trip to town to get cat food. Thinking it’s gonna be spaghetti for dinner tonight with salad and garlic bread.

    • Gaby G

I’m actually kind of bored today. After many days of vacations and being busy, I can’t find something to do. I’ve been reading but I think I will go for a walk.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Afternoon all! Work has begun again on the old kitchen/new garden room. It will get done. I’m awful for losing interest and leaving things unfinished, always looking for something else to do. This time I will try to finish one room before moving on to the next. Still no sign of my car getting fixed – the snow means the mechanic is a week behind with work.

    • gloria patterson

Kate ” the snow means the mechanic is a week behind with work.” Think of it that just means you have a week to get off your ass and get the “old kitchen/new garden room” …….. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you ever find or figure a way to make that “THING” don’t remember what you called it that hangs and you can hang stuff on it?????????????????????

  • Michele Soyer

I have absolutely nothing to do today! No phone calls, no orders, no deliveries to wait for….I plan on making an Italian lunch and reading all afternoon…

  • gloria patterson

Clean car only couple of inches and off to walmart. Got to pick up a few must haves.

    Walmart is making stuff DOWN…………….

Great niece got a boy & girl real life babies about 6 months ago. Clothes for them are expensive BUT her mother says 0-6 month clothes are cheaper at walmart then on amazon.

I got 6 pieces (tops/bottoms) marked down to a dollar apiece. And Valentine stuff is out and going FAST. I picked up a couple of things and hide them. YES Zay knows where ever thing is in my apartment.

Everything put away and the recliner was yelling at me……………… 3 hrs later

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s bread-baking day so lots of work to keep me busy. mercifully, everything is turning out the way I want it to. enjoy the day. thanks

  • Susan Smith

It’s cold here but we haven’t had alot of snow so that’s good. I don’t like snow, especially driving in it. I’m staying inside doing laundry, cleaning and working. I made some chili that’s in the crockpot. We are going to eat that tonight while watching the Vikings-Rams games.

  • Kate Sarsfield

More weird dreams last night but did manage to sleep a bit better. Did some laundry & hung it out to dry (probably take a week!), opened up the kitchen (had to block it off from the cats while painting etc.) & it looks good! Just to connect the washing machine & start getting shelves etc. up on the walls. There’s about a week’s work to get it all done but do it I will!

Tamra, sorry you’re still suffering. And weird dreams too. Let’s hope things get better soon.

Michele, I’ve just googled the Institute of Art. Looks amazing! Enjoy!

  • heather

I did a bunch of rinning around yesterday so today I am doing stuff arond the house. I am off to get the wood stove going in a few minutes sure was cold here yesterday and today below freezing.

  • Michele Soyer

We had a fantastic time yesterday – yes it was snowing and blowing but it did not matter at all..Went to the Cathedral of St Paul, The Basilica of Mary and the Minneapolis Institute of Art…
The art museum had a wonderful section just of Toulouse LaTrec and Degas…a Tibetian Temple and so many other exhitibts that we could never do this in one late afternoon – just a quick walk thru and find out how long certain exhibits would be there – most March….this will be a 2-3 day excursion for us…I am so grateful for the kindness of our host taking us on such an amazing tour of these twin cities…Today is a wait for deliveries day…

  • Tamra Phelps

Kate, I can relate to the sleep issue. I am not sleeping well at all. I wake up every hour. Weird dreams. Yeah, it might be the isolation of the snow.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Despite charging & driving the car yesterday, today it was dead again today. More charging of battery & this time a long drive on the clear main roads. Got some groceries on the way back, did a bit of housework & had a nap (thank you Gloria). Woke up at 9pm! I’ve been sleeping badly lately & having weird dreams involving Mum and Dad, sometimes my sister – v. strange. Maybe it’s the time of year, the isolation of being snow-bound or the moon, who knows? Just hope I get a decent couple of hours tonight.

    • Michele Soyer

Sorry to hear that you and t/amra are having such a hard time sleeping…today is athe full moon maybe when it wanes you will sleep better…Maybe take a shot of whiskey in some tea…

  • heather

I am trying to warm up the house at the moment got the wood stove going. I looked outside this morning and I thought it had snowed only to find out that was thick ice. It is January 12th and we have not had one sinlge snowflake fall here and we usually get snow in late October, it has me worried. Hey I don’t like to be snowed in or drive on snowy roads but we need a snowpack here ahead of summer for fire safety.

  • gloria patterson

It is 11:22 am and I have had a busy morning

    laundry done and put away

baked chicken breast (and did the dishes)

    fixed breakfast

    picked up and vac

    NOW ready for a nap!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michele Soyer

It must have snowed last night – there is a blanket of white outside.. No mass today ( not walking around in this until my snow boots arrive) then our “host” here who lives on the property asked if we would like to take a ride this afternoon to see The Basilica of Mary, St Pauls Cathedral and other Minneapolis sites…how nice! so we are heading out this afternoon…This also gives me an opportunity to get a single malt..LOL

  • Tamra Phelps

My doctor called me in an antibiotic since the weather makes it impossible to get out right now. Ugh. Same old UTI. It never quite gets knocked out. Why not just add a few days of treatmennt, right? Is that too logical for insurance to understand, lol??

    • gloria patterson

What about asking for a Extra prescription that you would have on hand when you needed it. Its hard sometimes getting hold of dr.

  • l p

the day is going well. did some batch cooking in case the weather turns miserable. hopefully that won’t be for some weeks. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Wide awake at 6 am peeked out yes we got more of that BLANK BLANK BLANK SNOW!!!!! Looks like 3 or 4 inches based on looking at parked cars that didn’t have snow on them last night. Side roads are bad, main road look interesting. Did a few things and decided that I needed a nap………. woke up 3 times and decided I was not ready to move……… Total of a little over 3 hours for naps.

Decided to work on my Aero Gardens (grown stuff in water). I have 3 and 2 of them are full of blooming flowers. The 3rd once I just planted 8 days ago and the green plants are up about a inch or so. Nothing like having fresh flowers growing inside.

Just looked out the window and it is starting to spit heavy snow………………………… I HATE WINTER

  • Kate Sarsfield

Michele: Your vitality astonishes me! But, as we say over here, no better woman! Wishing you all the very best for the next phase of your dream xxx

Gloria: You know me far too well!

Yay, the thaw has well & truly set in! So now foggy & sunny but dry enough to get out to charge the car battery & check gutters etc for cracks/leaks. Only 2 so far & easily fixable when we get some dry weather. I am itching to get going on the garden but, Gloria is right, the house will not renovate itself, so will start on that first (I promise!). Plan to go shopping tomorrow and for today, general tidy-up etc.

ps: I can’t reply to individual posts as the system then blocks me from commenting for 24 hours, hence my doing it all in one go!

    • gloria patterson

      Kate
Just go with the flow some like me do read different post, so don’t really care where you answer LOL

And I am glad THE PLAN is the inside of the house………….. BUT we both know if you go outside and poke around and see green coming up ……………. YOU are hooked LOL

  • heather

Good morning, just watching the news at the moment and sipping my tea. I did a bunch of running around yesterday so today I am staying home. I need to haul wood and catch up on some of my shows. Making meatloaf for dinner with all the sides like mashed potatoes and veggies.

  • Michele Soyer

Made arrangments for internet service , changed the name on the electricity bill…Friday is approaching rapidly…am I excited?? Researching plane tickets for the quick turnaround to Houston to handle the overland moving truck to here..
I am looking at flying in late afternoon , hotel over night, uber to the storage facility, handling the truck business, closing out the storage, then going straight back to the airport and flying out late afternoon or early evening….whew…can we do this?? of course – we are used to adjusting..
Today is another inside day this does not bother me at all…Up at half 5am in bed by 11pm my day is full….Have a great weekend all…

  • gloria patterson

I got out and to the grocery store today (has been almost 2 weeks since) the local road are snow/ice free, side/back roads are NOT. School was closed again today (5 days) they had Artic lessons today. All students have laptops that they take home at certain times for just incase. Great niece is pass ready to go back to school and her mother is to!

They say we may get more snow this weekend. I had food in the house BUT it was not what I was wanting.

Got home put everthing away and decided (like Kate) needed a nap…….. 1 hour

Did a little of this and a bit of that………… then like Kate I needed another nap ….

Its 5:09 PM and no more naps for me have things I need to do……….

  • l p

the day is going well. rather overcast today with the threat of some kind of precipitation so it’s an indoor day. good thing as visitors were expected and there was time to tidy up. enjoy the day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Gloria: Turf burns easily & gives good heat. I prefer it to wood as it doesn’t spark. It smells of the earth, which of course it is!

The weather people say the thaw has begun & I can see it happening but can’t feel it! Actually feel colder, maybe it’s the damp getting into my bones? No motivation to do anything at all today, but must, of course! Come on, Kate, move your bum, sugar plum!

    • gloria patterson

Kate you knew I had questions now that you have said it “smells of the earth” to some that would be like fresh baked bread. Makes it home!!! You have a good neighbor. Girl IF the thaw has started you need to get your butt in gear and get stuff done in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cause you know when it get warm you going to be out their digging LOL

  • Michele Soyer

Well it did snow yesterday afternoon, am i a big kid? YES.. while awaiting the delivery of my boots I stood on the porch and watched it snow…LOL
Today I have nothing to do but launder the new sheets and other linens I bought…I will suitcase them over to the new place along with other new items…Looks like the chair by the window, my book and a hot cup of coffee for me…

  • Bridget Calfee

The best gift I got for Christmas was leather seats for my car from my husband, a hot pink Stanley from my son and my pink toaster, pink blender and pink hand mixer from my mom and dad.

  • Bridget Calfee

My day is going great. They are calling for snow tomorrow and they closed schools so I don’t have to work and maybe my school will be closed for a few days next week. I am still getting things organized from Christmas and these days off will help.

  • Tracy Robertson

My day is going well, thank you. It’s a day off from work and I am at the library taking a break from running errands at the moment. I’m going to see if they have any good DVD’s available to watch tonight. Stay blessed everyone!

  • Kate Sarsfield

What day is it? Another snow & ice day. We are due a thaw starting tomorrow night so I’ll wait till then to try the car & get to the shops. My farmer neighbour brought me 2 bags of turf. He cuts his own from a boggy piece of land & does enough every summer to last all winter. It’s being outlawed (fossil fuels etc.) but private use is currently still allowed. Other than that, I cleaned the fridge, read & kept warm.

  • gloria patterson

    MY CAR IS CLEANED OFF……………………..

I cleaned the driver side off so snow would not go in the car when I opened the door. MY CAR STARTED and I was afraid it wouldn’t

Got out and start to clean the hood area AND a guy comes walking in our parking lot with a cup of coffee, stops. He asked me if I would let him clean my car and for me to wait in the warm car while he was doing it. So I took his coffee and got in the car. Didn’t take him long and he cleaned ever bit of snow of it.

Told him get in and get warm. We talked about all kinds of suff, he was a real nice guy. Said he had to get going and would I give him a hug when we got out of the car. So I did!

  • l p

the day is going well. still warmer than expected outside so I got lots of things on the to-do list completed. now to take on phone calls. enjoy the day. thanks

  • heather

I slept in a little too late this morning. I didn’t hit the snooze button this morning I just plain turned the alarm clock off! lol I have sleep issues so I am on a very strict sleep schedule seven days a week and I have been slippin lately.

  • gloria patterson

Still cold and snowy…………………. SO TIRED OF IT

Have been watching across the big yellow shovel tearing down old house. So far this morning he has pulled down 5 and there only 2 more that I can see. So interesting to watch.

I live in a HUD building and ever year we do a paper review and apartment inspection. I have lived here for almost 11 years and this is the first time paper work has been done and my apartment inspected all on the same day and in about a hour total. They do a inspection to make sure ever thing is working and if any thing needs fixed or replaced. Told him my stove was burning up and need replaced and he put in for a NEW stove for me!!!!!!!!!

I am going to go OUTSIDE AND CLEAN MY CAR OFF some time today

  • Michele Soyer

Making an Amazon order today for some winter clothes and boots – it is supposed to snow here today and I am not ready at all!! Well half way.. great warm coat and hood, gloves but nothing sensible for my feet..lol
Started a show last night called The Rig maybe I will even watch more before lunch – so lazy…

  • Kate Sarsfield

Been in bed all day apart from feeding the cats. Freezing fog & snow out there now. Hopefully this will all ease up at the weekend when temps are due to rise a bit. Fed up with winter!

  • Lisa Williams

The best Christmas gift I got was a framed picture of my three grown kids,I haven’t had an updated picture of them all together in years.

  • Lisa Williams

My day is going ok, It’s cold but blue outside and I’m indoors with my 2 cats, A couple years ago we found a litter of kittens in a hole in our yard,we kept 2 of them,The mother cat belonged to neighbors across the street but we we used to feed her so she felt comfortable having her kittens near us. I wanted to keep the whole litter but sadly I couldn’t afford to,the neighbors came and got them to find homes for the rest.

  • gloria patterson

Another day of NO SCHOOL to COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Temp thur high 25 – fri 28 the weekend we 30!!!!!

I had planned on going outside yesterday and clean the snow off my car and letting it run!
Today I plan on going outside and clean the snow off my car and letting it run………………………………

So far today I had breakfast and then took a 2 hr nap. Maintenace came and worked on my kitchen drain hopefully it will drain for awhile.

The rest of the day………… eat leftovers, watch tv, play on laptop, read…………… and maybe another nap

  • l p

the day is going well. there is/was lots on the to-do list today. the warmer weather sure makes the outdoor errands easier to deal with. enjoy the day. thanks.

  • heather

I am off to Costco later on this morning. I try to make sure I go there during the week as the weekend there is like a bloodsport!

  • Michele Soyer

Our agent arranged for the dryer to be cleaned and actually got it done yesterday! Amazing…
She even arranged a date for the electrician to come and change a thermostat..
Locks can be changed the same day..
Called the movers in Houston and arranged a date to have our possessions trucked up here ( the same one that unloaded the container and packed the storage unit)…I used the same one because they were great..took great care with everything..
Looking at plane tickets and a 2 night stay in Houston to handle that…When we know the exact date ( probably for the 29th to 31st) I will book… Whew… got all that out..
Today I have to purchase home contents insurance and do a bit of grocery shopping ( delivery please it is 9 degrees out there but no snow)..
I am so grateful for all the help we are getting.. if my father was alive he would tell me that this is what people get paid for..I know that but I KNOW over and above and appreciate it!

  • Jennifer Wilson

Still no hot water here. I think the best part of the holidays and visiting my inlaws was a hot shower. 🙂 It is 15* outside and I did take a cold shower earlier. I think I should be awarded some kind of medal for adulting! LOL

  • l p

the day is going well. nice times visiting with people when I was dropping off yesterday’s baking. and sorted out some computer ‘stuff’ (writing with my fingers crossed). thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

I made it to the shops & back in one piece. About 4 inches of snow but it’s very cold so no chance of it melting. So sorry I missed your birthday, Tamra!

  • heather

Today is a good day! The plummer was able to fix our pump so we have our water back. Hallelujah!!!!!!!!! Now I am off to take a hot shower. Thank you Lord.

  • gloria patterson

The only person I know that is happy with this snow is great niece (8) She got to sled ride down the small hill in her yard, and toward the end she had it really slick and going fast. Then she moved to the tire swing, jumping off and getting back on. Her mom sat on the porch in her battery powered coat drinking coffee and video her.

I keep looking out my window at the road, I can see it is snowy, slushe and slick looking. Looks like we have around my apartment we have about 6-8 inches. WANT to go clean my car off and start it………….. BUT don’t want to go out in the cold it is about 16 out there.

    So I will do something……………. computer ………. read………………. N A P

  • Michele Soyer

Things have changed once again – we basically scheduled the closing for the 30th – in fact I scheduled some things to be done after that…surprise surpise.. last night we got the inspection report and according to my agent ( even before I read the paperwork) it was one of the ” cleanest” inspections she has ever seen….the only thing noted was the dryer to be cleaned and one of the thermostats could be changed if I wanted to but not mandatory…
With this information, the gareement of the buyer and the date and time available we will close the sale on eith Thursday or Friday next week….
That inspection report was top on my mind…
Picked out my sofa and chair for the living room – picked out my dining set – and I have to measure for drapes/curtains….
Today it is 9 degrees and no snow – staying in again…

  • Tamra Phelps

We wound up tonight with about 13-20″ of snow depending where in the county you are–with a layer of ice in the middle of that somewhere, lol. I guess my doctor’s appointment Wednesday will have to be changed because it is not going to warm up enough to melt that snow and ice. The truck has run to try to clear the road which means high hills on the edge of the streets, lol.

    • gloria patterson

      Tamra
Well here’s to hoping you are on the 13 side!!!!! Have you been out in it, shoveled etc?? Temp is about 15 and light snow still coming down. My car is covered and I want to clean it off and start and let it run………… BUT don’t want to walk accoss the parking lot. Looks like we have about 8 inches…………………

BE SAFE IF YOU ARE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Polly Hall

I have my old tabletop computer set up so I can use my Photoshop program. I had to get a new tabletop because alot of the drivers were so out of date, they do not offer the Photoshop program that I purchased years ago. Now you have to pay monthly not going to do that, it was cheaper to purchase a new monitor

  • Kk P

Today is my mother’s birthday. She’s an incredible woman – caring, loving, strong, and much more. I wish her many more birthdays in the future.

  • gloria patterson

We got the snow/ice/cold but not as bad as they thought it would be.

They closed school early sun afternoon, then other area business started to announce closing.

Down the road they were on facebook how bad the roads were.

Thanks goodness I don’t work and don’t have to go any place. I just watch it out the window. I’m betting that there will be no school for the next couple of days. Temps are going to be low and their are some kids that wait outside for the bus and not in mommy/daddys car.

As for doing something to day not going to happen already had a 2 hr nap and it is 1 pm

  • Kate Sarsfield

Snow and more snow! Seems like everyone in the northern hemisphere is in the same boat! Thankfully I have wood for the fire so we’re all snug as a bug. Very grateful I don’t have to go out to work or take children to school. Still no news of wee Paddy so sad about that but the others are all fine. Any plans on my to-do list have fallen by the wayside. Basically just sleeping, keeping warm & eating Christmas chocolate. Stay indoors & keep warm, everyone!

    • Connie: The Head Peanut

Oh MAN that sounds delicious. I should have gone that route. I’m making lasagne soup. It’s cold here. But, still no snow. I keep saying this but WHAT A WEIRD winter!!! NO SNOW?! On a MOUNTAIN!?? IN IDAHO?!? In January?!?! Weird.

  • Heather

We are having an issue with our water so no water at the moment which is terrible. The plummer is coming this morning and I am praying out loud that he will be able to fix the issue. I am always mindful of how much water I am using on a daily basis but man I use water for a lot of things. You really realize it when you don’t have it. So that is how my day is going so far here hope all is better soon.

  • gloria patterson

Wide awake at 4:30 and so happy I don’t have go out and play in the snow to get to work!!!

Finished up my paper work and copies made ……………. check that off my to do list

I might do something and I might not…………. but a nap is starting to sound good

  • Michele Soyer

No snow or storm coming but it is -1…staying inside – reading, filling shopping carts ( lol)
Today I want to schedule someone to change the dryer exhaust and clean the vents – I experienced a dryer fire at one job and I have become very cauttious about their maintainence – I want it looked at ..
I also have to schedule a wall mount person to put the television on the wall – scheduling these things early will get the date and time I want…The 30th will be here before you know it…

  • Tamra Phelps

It has snowed all day, then the ice started. I think we are still doing freezing rain–it’s dark, so hard to tell. It is supposed to switch back to snow and do that until late tomorrow. Right now, we have had about 6 inches of snow before the ice, and after the layer of ice, there will be about 8 to 12 inches more snow. Lord. We won’t dig out for a month!

    • gloria patterson

      Tamra

Don’t know what the bottom of WV got, but up her at the top……….. we only have 3 inches (snow and some ice ) BUT it is still coming down and who knows when it will end. There are so many business closed!!

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s warmer than expected but still cold. out for a walk trying to stay out of the wind. did a little grocery shopping as well. enjoy the upcoming week. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Wide awake at 6 am…………… Did a little of this and some of that. Decided I needed a nap … 3 hrs later!!

They have announced by email NO SCHOOL on Monday due to weather. Right now it is 27 and feels like 21 🙂

We have a winter storm warning expecting snow (6-9 in) starting late tonight. Heres hoping student stay home but NO snow. The high this week is expected to be monday at 28

Just about done with my paperwork and then going to start a new book

    STAY WARM AND SAFE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • heather

I got myself some new tall UGG boots for Christmas. I thought… I’ve been good and I’ve worked hard all year I needed a treat! I love them so much but it’s raining today and now I’m afraid of getting them wet. I haven’t had a new pair of boots in years so it’s going to take me some time to break these in. lol

  • Kate Sarsfield

Michele, it sounds like you’ve landed on your feet, as the saying goes! I was worried about you – such a huge thing to do!

As for the rest of you lot, here’s my update since yesterday: Snow, just an inch or two, but sticking, and I’ve got a cold (least I hope it’s just a cold). More snow forecast, cancelled a chap who was due to call here tomorrow (it’s a follow-up to the work done by the Energy crowd), fed the cats & self & went back to bed, where I still am (after 3pm). Don’t feel like doing anything except wallow in self pity & procrastination (Hell, I am the Queen of procrastination!). ‘Talk’ again tomorrow.

  • Michele Soyer

It is so telling that yesterday was my fathers birthday and we are moving forward with this sale – when we sold and moved my mum to T&T it was around my fathers birthday..I beieve he is always with us looking out for us..Love you Michael!
Making some color choices for the place since I always had a blue drawing room ( it was my husbands fav color) also the bedroom.. now I can choose different options..Have many essentials in my amazon and Walmart carts and looked at dinig room and living room sets…Today there is plenty of laundry to do ( down in the basement – just like my childhood home lol ) and more online searching…I will make a lovely Sunday dinner and enjoy some Cabernet – have to find a state store to get some single malt! Have a wonderful Sunday all!

  • Tamra Phelps

Did a grocery pickup since the coming ice/snow might freze us in place for a week. The place was so under siege that it took them 2 and a half hours over the time scheduled for pickup to finish it, lol. Wow. People panic at the last minute. But this time, they know it’s big and it’s coming, so I guess they are right to panic. I had 10 substitutions and 2 unavailables and one screw=up (they sent pepper jack cheese instead of mozzzarella, .)

    • gloria patterson

Tamra they say it is coming in here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I have not been out since friday BECAUSE in this
town/state when they say it MIGHT snow. People rush to the store for MILK, BREAD AND TOILET PAPER even tho they have a gallon of milk or more in the frig and bread in the freezer ETC ETC

  • Kate Sarsfield

WOWZA! Michele, things are really happening at your end. So glad you were able to find what you wanted without too much bother. Time now to hunker down while this Arctic blast takes over much of the northern hemisphere (Ireland included).

Gloria, sorry you’ve lost a tooth. That’s an expense you could do without.

I had plans for today but another night with no sleep till 7am meant breakfast was at 2pm … car battery dead again … charged & went for long drive, stopping off for cat food & litter in case I’m snowed in. Plenty of empty shelves & staff said it was busier than Christmas Eve with people stocking up. No sign of poor wee Paddy & no real hope now of him still being alive after almost a week in this bitterly cold weather unless taken in by someone else. I’ve no real ‘neighbours’; we’re just houses dotted along a laneway leading to nowhere, but there are farm buildings where he could have found shelter although no mice etc. around at this time of year …

  • l p

the day is going well despite a late start. it’s cold with wind and high humidity outside, so the to-do list is the plan for the day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Was wide awake at 5:30 AM……… what the heck got up and moving. Have done a little of this and some of that.

Right now WV is under a winter storm watch…. today is a high of 23!!!! Calling for snow on sunday. Our high temp for next week is 28

Got paper work to gather up and get in order!

  • heather

I am waking up and getting ready to make some breakfast here. I need to haul firewood today and it looks like it’s raining out there that always makes it soooooooooo fun. lol

  • Michele Soyer

Here we go girls…hit the ground running since we landed..Thursday we ordered our groceries and organized our living area here..Plenty of heat!!
Yesterday our agent ( amazing woman ) took us to 7 yes 7 condos for a walk thru…the first 2 were amazing and had all our requirements….
Made an offer on our absolute favourite… 3 bedrooms, fireplace, 2 sliding glass doors, ( 2 patios) french doors from the dining room to the den..new carpeting, new laminate, new tile all new appliances a pantry, storage and a garage….
An investment for the owner who never ever lived in it or rented it…We would be the first occupants..
the woman accepted the offer….Monday is inspection and a closing if all goes well on the 30th….
It is all I could ask for and more – the HOA includes heat, gas, water, AC, snow, lawn, security etc….
I already have a sketch of where I will put what! What painting will go where! LOL..
Today I will be looking at living room suites and a small dining set and buffet…too cold to leave the apartment so doing online searching is perfect – no 2 mile walk today…

  • l p

the day is going well. out early for shopping. for some reason there are lots of phone calls today. can hardly believe it’s Friday. thanks

  • Polly Hall

I went into an Amish furniture store with my husbandd today. He would like to replace the sidetable next to his side of the couch. They had some beautiful pieces saw one that would work but it was $670.00 way to much for my blood. Plus he is always spilling his drinks and i know that the wood would get ruined.

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, there is a snow/ice storm eaded for us. Supposed to arrive the 5th and go through the 6th, and it will stay below freezing for days, so who knows how long we will be buried. I hipe it’s more snpow than ice. I hate ice!

  • gloria patterson

INFO – from thursday…. some how some way I broke, cracked, cause a problem to one of my crowns.
Broke or cracked or something one of my crowns on Thursday!

Some how some way I broke, cracked one of my crowns on Thursday

TODAY – WVU has a dental school and ever day there emergency dental dept takes appointments. And it FIRST COME FIRST CALLED IN by student. They start checking people in at 8 am.

Was up at 5:30 and out of it a bit before 7. (SNOW & COLD TEMPS) our parking lot not plowed. So I have a close parking spot but held my breath all way to car, afraid I was going to fall. Had a about 2 in or so of snow on the car, got it all cleaned off and warmed………. about 25!

It is only 2 1/2 miles to the dental school. The road (has LOTS) of traffic so only took me less then 20 minutes to get there. FIRST one to sign in and first one called. Long story short version could NOT save the tooth. So they take me to a different section to get it pulled. Let say he had to work to get that tooth out.

My mouth was numb all the way around and my nose is also numb. 4 hrs later my upper mouth is still numb and my nose is numb………… My next step is to get a bridge! Now for NAP!!!!

The rest and all next week temps are in the 20’s and some snow

  • Kate Sarsfield

Ooh, Michele, I love Je Reviens! Haven’t seen it in ages.

It’s bitterly cold with lots of ice & worse to come for the next week or so. Actually quite glad in a way, as it means I’ll have to start getting on with renovating the house, rather than pottering in the garden. There’s still so much to do. Bit by bit, Kate! Haven’t heard from my mechanic yet … still no sign of wee Paddy …

    • gloria patterson

Sounds like your coming week is likes ours……… better to be home and inside. And as you say you have STUFF to do inside. Maybe all the kids will want to stay inside instead of going outside. Maybe Paddy found his for ever home!

      • Tamra Phelps

Yep, Gloria is in WV and I’m next door in KY, lol. So, we are both waiting for that snow & ice that is headed our way. It sounds like we all have plenty to dread. And Michele has left sunny Texas for Minneapolis in Winter?????

  • Suzie B

I’ve been sick for a few weeks and while the cold has passed, I still feel run down and lethargic. It’s making it difficult to really enjoy the new year so far!

  • heather

Good Morning, it’s still dark out here and I think it’s raining. I made pizza last night and the house still smells like a pizza parlor.

  • Polly Hall

Good morning just got going and the day is going well so far. We have plans to head to the lake house this afternoon.

  • Michele Soyer

My daughter got me my favorite perfumes of all time.. Je Revien and White Shoulders…both are old and still my all time favs…

  • Maureen

My husband purchased a new key for my car. I had been using the spare. The car is 13+ yrs old and the original key needed replacing.

  • Rose

I’m not sure what my *best* gift was, but I know I’ve been enjoying some chocolate bread made with fancy chocolate, it has pockets of this amazing chocolate as big as a candy bar. Oh oh, now I’m craving some more! It is also made with a 100 yr old starter passed down from generations!

  • Rose

aMy niece makes bookmarks and a few other handmade items and sells them. You make such nice things! If I lived somewhere I could do a craft biz, I think I would try making and selling some things. At a condo complex, you can’t here, and they don’t want anyone doing things like that, and it is against town ordinances, too. But I do make things to give away and for gifts!

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s gone all freezing cold again. And next week we are due for our first snow/ice event, lol. It looks like we are might be in the zone for both, which I dread. I’d rather have just snow any day. Ice just brings too many bad problems! Kate, I feel like a kind neighbor saw little Paddy and took him in until the weather gets better. Would they recognize him as coming from your place?

  • l p

the day is going well, as said previously. cleaning up, bit by bit, after a lovely time with family and friends. back to ‘normal’ whatever that is. thanks

  • l p

the day is going well. best Christmas gift was a visit from a family member who is moving across the world and won’t be back here for a long time. it was wonderful. Connie – WHOOT WHOOT!! thanks

  • gloria patterson

Don’t know where the day has gone. It was 25 when I left this morning, wool coat, hat, scraft and gloves. Our temps are going DOWN DOWN .. Sat it will be high of 22 and ALL next week in the 20’s BUT NO snow is called for.

Early lunch with a friend and picked up a few things. Now home thinking nap

  • Kate Sarsfield

Is there anyone else out there? Anyway, Day 2 of 2025 and it’s just more of the same except with more chocolate! Housework, cats, shopping for and tidying up after said cats, and repeat. Really heavy frost last night and the car battery was dead so charged that then went for a drive. Hopefully that’ll be enough. The replacement part for the car is here at last now just waiting for the mechanic to have the time to fit it. Sadly, still no sign of little Paddy and I don’t think he’d have made it through last night unless he’s been taken in by someone else.

    • gloria patterson

YEA for the part…………. hope he fits you in soon……………… You are pass ready to be on the road with out worry

Paddy sending postive thoughts that he has found a warm spot to hang out in.

  • heather

I am still waking up and getting the house warmed up. Trying to decide if I want to make the trip in to town to get some household items today or not. I still need to check the weather looks pretty cloudy out there.

  • Tamra Phelps

Glad your fair sales were great, Connie! I buy book marks all the time because I tend to lose them, lol. Here’s an idea for your next fair: start now!!! Every month make a few things and you will be ahead of the game next year. I think I might start now trying to gather old vintage ornaments like that Instagram guy used to make that wreath, then maybe in a year I could make one, too, lol. Ohhhhh, add wreaths to your fair sales!

  • Tamra Phelps

Best Christmas gift? Hmm, I mostly got cash or gift cards, but honestly, the thing that made me smile when I got it was a Christmas card from Kate, lol. It had a black cat on it, which made me think Idris’ spirit has found Kate at their new home for Christmas!

  • Heather

I got a new ski jacket. I so needed a new one as I wear it a lot during the winter months. I love a nice warm, durable waterproof ski jacket! Score!!!!!!!!!!

  • Heather

Happy New Year to Everyone! 2025 does sounds so weird to say and it will take me a while to remember to write it correctly on stuff. I went to bed early and slept in this morning. I am just now watching the ball drop in NYC and watching new stories from 2024. I changed the calendar in the kitchen this morning. I knew you would do excellent at the Christmas fair your stuff so cool.

  • gloria patterson

    H A P P Y N E W Y E A R to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now I am typing and eating………. for breakfast I had a slice of toast and a cup of FROSTED FLAKES that you pull the lid off. I keep them on hand if I get a urge for cereal.

Connie sounds like the craft fair was a success! You are just going to have to make a work plan of WHAT you want to have on hand next year. And then MAKE your self do so much each week.

Last night was just watching TV!!! And today I might do something then again at 9:28 am I am thinking a nap. Since I have been up since 5:30 it time for a nap……………..

  • gloria patterson

Regarding Best Christmas gift…………….. AS adults we just don’t do it anymore. If we want something we go out and buy it…………… unless of course some one wanted to buy me a new car. You would not even have to put a bow on it. I bought Zay (8) a craft cart on wheels with 16 drawers. With LOTS of craft supplies (most of that I got on sale here & there) Always have to visit the clearance aisle at walmart. Even great niece loves the clearance (it runs in the family) Also gave money to my 19 yr old great nephew. First year of college and he is enjoying it.

  • gloria patterson

Dear Anonymous (you forgot to use your name LOL)

Sorry to read about Paddy maybe just found a friend to play with and will be home when ever. Kate NOT sleeping is just not you!! Maybe later you can catch a LONG nap but NOT while you have food cooking.

  • Anonymous

Hello 2025! The sky is blue, the sun is shining and I haven’t managed to have a wink of sleep. Not for the want of trying, let me tell you! Finally gave up at 6.30, let the cats out and got everything ready for my dinner: small piece of beef, roast potatoes and more SPROUTS! Probably won’t eat meat again till Easter.

Bad news: Paddy, the little shed cat is missing. He went out as usual on Monday afternoon & I haven’t seen him since. He hasn’t been in the shed either. I’m not very hopeful but never say die, as they say.

    • Tamra Phelps

Aw, I hope little shed cat comes back, dragging his tail between his legs, looking all innocent…like he just got lost and hasn;t been up to no good, at all. I hate to think he’s gone. Sometimes we all feel like a shed cat, ya know.
