Seamlessly Prioritizing Home and Business Organization Projects

Forget about spring cleaning; summer is still a great time to prioritize your home improvement projects and figure out what needs completing. If you’ve put a stop to current projects that are lingering because you’re feeling overwhelmed with the kids being out of school or you have too many things to do period, take a deep breath and start by prioritizing your business and home improvement projects. You can complete them one at a time!

Make some lists

It’s probably been a while since you looked over your list of possible home projects, huh? That’s okay – when feeling overwhelmed it’s easy to bury the to-do list at the bottom of a pile of magazines or place it somewhere deep inside of your desk. Make a brand new list and don’t hold back. Instead include it all, from creating your own website for your home business to redoing a guest bedroom. Write your list on what works best for you – it can be in your planner, in a notebook, or even on note cards. Put it somewhere where you’ll know where to see it easily as a reference.

Set reasonable timelines

When you do have time to work on your projects, don’t get frustrated if you can’t get everything done all at once. Setting up a new website will take time as will organizing your desk. That’s okay – have fun as you get organized and set a timeline for yourself. I’m not talking getting everything done in a day timeline; I’m talking a few steps a day or as time allows timeline. There’s no possible way you can get a huge project like redecorating your room done in a day – but getting it done over the course of two weekends is much more reasonable. Setting reasonable timelines will help a lot and don’t over commit yourself – get what you feel needs to be done first and the rest will follow.

Getting rid of clutter

Next, before you begin on your home and business renovation projects, it’s important to clean out the clutter first. You might be wondering what decluttering has to do with your current projects that you’d like to start on. By clearing out the current mess out of your house and either donating clutter and odds and ends to the Goodwill or selling furniture you no longer use, you’ll be creating a clean and tidy space to work with in every area of your home. Plus, with the money you make from selling furniture you’ll have extra funds to use on your DIY projects and creating your own website!

Figure out how much you can spend

Of course, before you go full speed ahead now that you’re motivated to get going on projects, you need to consider your budget first. Add up what you’re willing to spend and add the cost of each project to your list. If you can only afford to start a few projects first that’s fine – it’s better than going into debt because that would be counter-productive. Go for projects where you will get the biggest bang for your buck and feel accomplished when you’re able to check off one task at a time that’s on your list!

It is really satisfying to cross something off a list, lol. These days, I need lists just to remember what I need to do.

Connie, I am the Queen of list-making. I have lists about lists! I’ve always done it since I was able to write and don’t feel I’ve achieved anything unless I can cross something off – it’s a wonderful feeling!
