How My September Went

Before the giveaway, I give an update on life on the mountain.

My craftroom is as busy as ever. The Ponderay Special Needs Christmas Craft Fair is coming up in November. I am NOT ready.

Between helping The Husband cut and stack wood. Lucille, the ummmm witch? WHY?? I dunno. She makes me happy. She is looking even more insane than last month. I decided to add moss. Our rocks on the mountain is covered in it….. so while The Husband rests between logs, I grab moss. Now the moss is about a 1/4th of the way up Lucille’s skirt. (MAN! I crack myself up!!)

I’ve made car fresheners, kids’ activity kits, a few mugs. I’ve REALLY got to get busy.

The siren for the end of trick or treating just sounded. No trick or treaters this year. That’s not unusual here–I am at the end of a street, a little out of the way. So, I ate about six little bags of gummies, lol.

  • l p

the day is going well. got a phone call before 6:00 AM today – wrong number. couldn’t go back to sleep so got up and made some Halloween cookies and muffins for the neighbourhood party. it was in the afternoon so everyone could be home to hand out goodies from their homes. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Cathy L

Happy Halloween! We went from cold and rainy to sunny and 61 today. We will have a frost tonight though, so it will probably finish off the rest of the garden.

  • Michele Soyer

Foggy spooky morning here in the upper midwest! in the 40’s and raw ( do people say that anymore?) LOL did a 3 mile workout and now heading for more coffee and my art history notes a bit of study then a bit of painting then my book…have a fun recipe for today voodoo pasta that is on the menu with a spooky cocktail!
    Happy Halloween all…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

We’re expecting the remains of Hurricane Melissa tomorrow so a busy day today before we hunker down. Also got to go to the library to print off a couple of letters (since one of the cats peed on my printer), then carwash. Got the car’s re-test at 7.30 this evening, then shopping.

  • l p

the day is going well. went out to pick up some Chinese food from my favourite place. they are so generous, I get 5 meals from each order. good thing there’s room in the freezer. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

6 hours sleep last night! I’m actually feeling a bit better already. Half the battle is working out what the problem is/was. My lack of sleep wasn’t just too much screentime. It was also the death of my lovely neighbour, missing Gloria, lack of money, the rising cost of living, putting on weight/comfort eating, Putin, Trump, Gaza, Ukraine and all the other wars and my own mortality. I’d hit a ‘what’s the bloody point?’ slump. Dragging myself out of it now.

    • Michele Soyer

Kate I will not give you platitudes – I hate them when given to me…you have to get through this time in your life just as you have done times before ( pretty sure this is not your first time at this rodeo) you will come out of it and carry on brillantly – you have no other choice there are people and kittys depending on you!

    • Tamra Phelps

I am familiar with that feeling, too!! The world feels like it has gone off the rails a lot lately. It will definitely make any sane person lose sleep.

  • Michele Soyer

Today is the last day of the sadness…today my son passed away 13 years ago….he was 38…that night super storm Sandy passed over NJ and NYC he called me in the middle of the storm to say it was rough wind howling…he was getting prepared to be the one to take the children out for Halloween the next day..also to book his ticket to come and spend some time with us and look for properties…little did I know the next day my duaghter-in-law would be the one calling with news that he passed over night…talk about a shock that rocked me speechless….so today I will play his fav songs and dance because he would want me to…at lunch toast him with his fav Malbec…. and go tonight and light a candle…..

  • heather

Just waking up here it still dark out and I am listening to the news as I read my emails. Still recovering from yesterday where eveything I did and every place I went turned out to be a cluster! It was one of ‘those’ days for sure.

  • Terri Quick

I usually don’t post anything political, but Trump is really trying my nerves with this government shutdown. I just got a message saying that there will be no EBT in a November.

  • l p

the day is going well. another lovely fall day. had some appointments earlier and then went out to do some grocery shopping. love seeing all the coloured leaves. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Shannon Mitchell

I’m making Halloween treats for the littles today. I’m kind of ready for Halloween to be over so I can focus on Christmas.

  • Michele Soyer

  • Kate Sarsfield

I managed 5 full hours sleep last night! Could do with another 5 but need to get moving to get to the rescue centre on time.

  • Tamra Phelps

I’m actually watching Dancing with the Stars, lol. I have not really watched it before–but I wanted to see Robert Irwin because he seems like such a good-natured kid, so I decided to watch this season. It’s actually sort of entertaining.

  • l p

the day is going well. up early to do some volunteering, made some cookies, cleaned the kitchen. tripped while out and my poor knees are black and blue. going to be sore tomorrow but no major harm, though. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Cathy L

Made homemade Enchiladas for dinner tonight. It is cold and rainy. Praying for all of the people in Jamaica. Very scary. I think I heard it was now heading towards Cuba.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Still awake at 5am. Gave up & read till 7, let the cats out & slept till 11. Let the boys in & we had breakfast then slept again till 2pm. Finally managed to do some chores. Slept again till 6pm. Prepped a big quorn casserole for cooking tonight & my clothes etc. for tomorrow.

  • Michele Soyer

Today my mom has been gone exactly 20 years…Wow I see her face all the time…things happen and I always say what would Helen think? how would Helen enjoy this with me? She was always up for an adventure, always up for going out and about, always up for “lets take the day off” lol love her so much.. miss her so much.. she loved pink, sweet pretty cocktails…I am not up for a “Pink Lady” but she also loved champagne and chocolate….I recall her sitting with a box of Godiva an afternoon…..well I don’t do chocolate either but champagne is chilling for this afternoons toast to her….

  • heather

Feeling a tad under the weather today so just taking it easy. I am going to unbox my Amazon order and hope everything from my order is in there and not leaking this time.

  • Kate Sarsfield

So much for good intentions. I was still awake at 5.30am, got up anyway to let the cats out, had breakfast, sat on the bed to get dressed, felt cold so got into bed and woke up at 7.30pm. Day wasted.

    • Tamra Phelps

Kate, possibly you just aren’t back to 100%. Your body needed that rest. And I get the whole not being able to sleep at night, trying to get back to a more regular sleep schedule–I go through that too a lot. It can add to that draggy feeling. Hang in there!

      • Kate Sarsfield

It’s the bloody internet! Since I got the new laptop, I’ve hardly read at all & waste the time I should be sleeping playing FB games etc. Too much screentime.

  • l p

the day is going well. bread-baking day so the place is cozy warm and smells wonderful happily, everything turned out as I wanted. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

After today the next few are rough and sad.. BUT today I would have been married for 55 years! Husband has been gone for 8 and feels like yesterday…I go back to that fall day in NYC I at 18 he at 22…it is amazing that we were in uni, got married, and also worked part time…we did it and with our son coming along in 74….going to put on “our” play list and later on toast with that single malt…..

  • heather

I am just waking up and watching some funny videos on Youtube. It’s pretty chilly here this morning my cat is hugging the heater at the moment. Hope you have a nice Monday.

  • l p

the day is going well. out for a long walk this morning. listening to some really interesting podcasts. spent some time volunteering and happy to be home for the evening. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

UGH!!! Our clocks went back last night. It’s dark by 4.30pm. I’ve decided I’m going to change my sleeping patterns because at the moment I’m constantly tired. I’m going to get up at dawn & go to bed much earlier. It’ll be hard ‘cos lately I’ve still been awake at 7am. Got to give it a go though.

  • Michele Soyer

Had a great time last night at the party and met some nice people.. I believe we have created a pleasant circle here in Mn – never thought I would wind up here and love it this much..I know all about the cold (lol) but after 25 years of tropical weather – it is a pleasant change…also not watching and the worrying over hurricanes is a +++…into the kitchen now to make some waffles..Lovely Sunday to all…

  • heather

I am waking up heating up the house and listening to the news. Need to make a trip to the store today. I am thinking it’s time to make some yummy potato and ham soup.

  • Susan Smith

I had a nice day, running errands, watching football and going out to dinner with my husband. I’m loving this cooler weather!

  • Tamra Phelps

It has becme cold here in KY. It feels more like early December today, lol. I’d like a nice breezy but not freezing Fall!

  • l p

the day is going well. absolutely gorgeous Fall day. went to the Farmers’ market and got some fresh veggies and fruit. checked in with my friend – still in the hospital without a diagnosis. as they say – It’s a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. hope they find out soon. right now, the MDs are treating the symptoms as they arise. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Last night the sky was beautiful. Clear skies, so I just lay in bed looking at the stars and an occasional airplane passing by. Managed to get into the garden again between heavy showers and finished planting daffodil bulbs.

  • Michele Soyer

Cold, rainy gloomy day today..Well one has to make ones own sunshine! On goes the sound bar old school R&B and disco..move the coffee table and I am dancing! Off to the party tonight…

  • heather

We are fin.ally getting some much needed rain here. All last evening I was chasing down lawn chairs because it was so windy here. I am catching up on laundry today nothing too exciting. Hope you have a nice day

  • l p

the day is going well. finally getting a chance to stop and put my feet up. spent yesterday and all night with a friend who had an emergency and was rushed to the hospital. their family was out of town so I went as a proxy. they called at 1 AM and after talking with and ‘laying eyes on’ them, it was decided they belonged in the hospital. the MDs are still trying to provide a diagnosis so we shall see. makes me so grateful for my health and support systems – family, friends, and health care providers. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Good evening from a very wet & windy west of Ireland. And it’s cold rain too. I’ll light a fire later & snuggle down with Jane Eyre on the radio.

  • Michele Soyer

Baking today, for the household and for the party tomorrow…I plan on doing a large cooky tray with 4 different kinds and 3 trays of brownies – plain, peanut butter and turtle..there are no nut allergies for the guests and I figure that will take a small dent out of the dessert table…Happy Friday all!

  • Cathy L

We had our first frost warning. We covered as much of our garden as possible to protect the plants and we will do that again tonight.

  • Shelly Peterson

I have the grandkids again today. But I don’t have dialysis as usual. I had to change my schedule due to an out of town dr. appointment coming up.

  • Kate Sarsfield

The car’s back at the mechanic so no car till tomorrow. Dropped it off at 9am, back to bed till 11. Weeded & tidied the garden, back to bed till 4pm, then back into the garden till dark at 6.30. The clocks go back this weekend so it’ll be dark at 5.30. POOP!

  • Tamra Phelps

well, I got a surprise call from the doctor I saw Monday. She wants me to see an infectious disease doctor because of my UTI. OK. So, I have tht scheduled. Odd to see an infectious disease doctor for that but I guess if they are recurring, it makes sense.

    • Kate Sarsfield

Ooh! This sounds promising, if you understand me. Not to wish an infectious disease on you, but the more experts on board, the better, in my opinion.

      • Tamra Phelps

Yeah, I agree. It sort of threw me at first because you don’t really think of that type of doctor for this but I guess it might be good.

  • Michele Soyer

Pantry cleaned and all groceries put away…Hoovered and wiped down the bathroom sinks..Now time for my chair and my book!

  • heather

I have to make a trip to the grocery store and Post Office today. Hope you have a great day. Need to decide what I want to make for dinner.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Lots of new arrivals in the feline section of the rescue centre, all of them tiny kittens. A couple of them are almost blind from infected eyes & one was born with a deformed front leg that will need amputation when older. Four aren’t even weaned & are being hand-reared by the manager of the centre who lives on-site. Please neuter your pets!

  • Michele Soyer

Making a list for the grocery delivery tomorrow..decided to bake a few trays of brownies and cookies to take to the party on Saturday evening…also have to make a run to Home goods for disposable fall trays for said goodies…by the time i get back it will be time to cook…Happy Wednesday all!

  • l p

the day is going well. kind of a crazy day, though. had lots of plans and everything had to change. oh well, got lots of things accomplished I wasn’t planning to. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

I’m just sitting here smelling a pork loin in the crockpot, lol. It smells good, but still has to cook a little longer, with the potatoes, green beans, onion I put in there. I like crockpot cooking–you just sit and wait, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Slept all day again but did manage to get a bit more gardening done. Trying to weed & tidy up the flower bed before the ground gets too cold.

  • Michele Soyer

Day 1 of a neat organized kitchen junk drawer – lets see how long this can last! Did my walking inside today weather in the 40’s, rainy and raw – no outside walk for me…still cleaning leaves off the patios – if I didn’t have fairy lights and leaf decorations out there I would just let it go for a few days but when I see it I can’t it drives me nutz…

  • heather

Little ticked off this morning, got a warning on my twitter account for retweeting an IHOP gift card giveaway? I have been retweeting it for weeks and then all of the sudden I get a ding? Oh and they make it impossiible to contact a person at Twitter! I just keep telling myself I didn’t do anything wrong and I am up against computers! Have a nice day out there! I need to walk in the grass soon. lol

  • Tamra Phelps

Saw a new doctor today..actually a nurse practitioner. I really liked her. She spent real time, asked real questions and has new ideas to stop this UTI. She agrees that it is more likely to be one that just isn’t being knocked out completely. I feel like I might have a chance at getting this done!

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s bread-baking day. it’s so nice the sun was out to warm the proofing place. everything turned out quite well. and the house smells wonderful. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

Our neighbor came by last evening for a chat and a coffee..well we chatted and had coffee and laughed – great for the soul. The first week of November we are going to the apple orchards to pick a bushel or so..it has been so long since I have had the option of different apples to bake and cook with – in Trinidad it was catch as catch can with whatever the markets brought in and the price was always off the charts…
Took my walk to the Dollar Tree for nothing really just a plastic catch all for my junk kitchen drawer which i am trying to keep neat…good luck me..
More leaves have blown into one of the patios so swept them up, bagged them and dumped them in the woods…
Now to warm up leftovers for lunch and a nice Merlot….

    • Tamra Phelps

I grew up near an orchard and they were so trusting that they would bag them and leave them in a little building after hours and put out a little cigar box for you to leave your money…and people always did! At the time, I didn’t think about it but now I look back and think today, they would be broke!

  • heather

I am just waking up and sipping my tea and listening to the morning news. Still dark out here and a little chilly. I am making a trip to the deli today. Hope you have a great day.

  • Tamra Phelps

I have to go to Lexington tomorrow for a doctor’s appointment, so that’s a bummer, but maybe it’ll do some good. Fingers crossed. She specializes in UTI type stuff, so hopefully she can work some magic, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Another night with no sleep. Instead I went for a nap at 5pm and now it’s almost 10pm and I haven’t eaten since breakfast. It seems I’m keeping cat hours now.

  • Michele Soyer

Sunday roast in the oven, made a dessert for tonight and relaxing with another cup of coffee…Only reading and relaxing today..Everyone enjoy your Sunday!

  • Shelly Peterson

Today we are going to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate my grandsons 4th birhtday. Yesterday was my 13 year old grandsons last soccer game and his team finished the season undefeated. So proud of them.

  • l p

the day is going well. went to the farmers market early on, then acted on behalf of a friend at an open house to gather details and take pictures, etc. lots of interest in the house. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

What is wrong with me? After feeling tired all week, I actually went to bed at a reasonable time only to still be awake at 7am. Got up & drove to the nearest big town (Ballina) & was doing my weekly shop at 8am ON A SATURDAY MORNING!!!

  • Michele Soyer

Had an amazing time last night…The crowd took in all ages from Boomers all the way….Feel so pleased that we were able to go…to be honest all i wanted to do was get out of town as soon as possible so wound up going straight home and having dessert there…Right now I am looking at all the leaves and better get out there and rake..Pizza for lunch today!

  • heather

I am making a trip to the local library this morning. I have a lot of items to return and also to pick up. Hope you have a great Saturday I slept way in this morning.

  • Shelly Peterson

I haven’t gone to bed yet. I’m kind of not feeling good. I hope I feel better because today is my grandsons last soccer game for the season.

  • Tamra Phelps

I put out an old Christmas tree and some decorations on the porch with a sign saying it was free to whoever wanted it. I thought I’d leave it there a few hours and if nobody around here wanted it I would post it on the local Facebook page for free stuff available. I put it out at 11 and at 11:21 a guy knocked and checked that it was okay to take it (in case someone had already claimed it, I guess.) I said YEP!! Take it. I’m trying to get rid of stuff that just sits in my closets. I’d rather see it go some place where it can be used, you know? I’m kind of too tired for Christmas decorating, lol. I decorate with easy stuff now: a door wreath, a few knick knacks. No trees, lol.

  • Michele Soyer

Was able to get tickets for tonight…very happy about that…Thinking about going out to an early dinner first – make a night of it…if not maybe a coffee and dessert after the show…Wishing everyone a pleasant Friday!

  • Kisa

My day is alright, it’s gotten cold and I don’t love cold weather all that much to be honest. Someday I’ll be able to move and not deal with it every year!

  • Michele Soyer

Received my grocery delivery, put everthing away and now concentrating on seeing availability and price of tickets for Friday night show Paul McCartney…he is playing in Minneapolis and I would love to go….remember the British Invasion in the 60’s when i was a teenager.. never a huge fan but I always appreciated his songs best.. then George ( my guitar gently weeps oh) lets see what i can do!

  • heather

My cat is in a little bit of trouble this morning. She got in my closet pulled down a bunch of my clothes off the hangers and made a bed and took a nap. I think she has five beds and I mean they are nice beds! Ahh … pet parenthood… Have a great day out there.

  • Tamra Phelps

The stuff I need to get rid of is piling up, lol. (I’ve been cleaning out closets.) I mean, how much crap does one person need. If something has been in a closet for 5 years, do you really need it???? Maybe give it to someone who will use it, you know?

  • Michele Soyer

Received an invite to a Halloween party next Saturday night – what a pleasant surprise! Have to figure out exactly what to bring….

  • heather

Just getting the house warmed up at the moment and listening to the morning news. This week is going so fast I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday.

  • Rose

They turned the heat on yesterday. We’ve had wacky weather in the 80s, then dropped to the low 60s. So it was nice to cuddle up to the radiator for that radiant warmth!

  • Kate Sarsfield

I slept till noon again and I’m still tired, however I finallty finished painting the hallway. Bryn got paint all over his back rubbing his scent on the ‘new’ wall. Managed to get it all off & now he’s not talking to me.

  • heather

Just got in the door from doing some running around town. I am just giddy that I found some hamburger on sale for $2.98 per pound! I thought I was seeing things. Thinking about making a meatloaf with it as the weather is getting chilly here I need some comfort food that fills us up.

  • Michele Soyer

Sat around drinking coffee until 10 then decided to get up and get going – it is in the 40’s and looks grey and like rain will start any time so took a 3 mile walk to the Home Goods and the Dollar Tree. Bought a few odds and ends and by in large had a good time.. no one was out so I could walk easily and the stormy ske reminded me of romantic days like this in the past…now lunch, my book some music and I deserve a single malt!

  • l p

the day is going well. still quite cold here so bread-baking day is more than welcome. the place is now warm with the smell of bread. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

One of our cats woke me up at half 4am to just pet her! LOL..well that was that – made the bed, put on coffee, polished the furniture in the ilving room fed the rabbits outside ( brr) and now the rest of my day is my own – a 3 mile walking workout and then I have to catch up with my language and art history courses..

  • heather

We are getting some serious rain here and we sure need it so I am happy this morning. I am just listening to the news at the moment.

  • KaLei

It has been a really nice fall day. I hope the rest of the week is the same or better so that I can get out and about without too many problems.

  • Terri Quick

I had an emergency with my Aussie Shepherd & spent several hours at the vet last night. Luckily, he’s ok. He’s a big tough guy ❤️

  • l p

the day is going well. went out early this morning for a long walk. my goodness it was cold! the wind came up and almost pushed me into the street. the whole week is supposed to be like that. I was happy to get home and get warm. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

Fall moved in overnight. One day it was still warm, up around 80, then boom…the next day it was so gray it never seemed to really get daylight and it was rainy and cold. The chill has stayed. Not freezing but just that hint of a chill. It lets you know Winter is coming, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

He’s back! I was still awake at 5am. A dog down the road was barking and barking for hours & he’s usually in at night. I reckoned his owners were late getting back from somewhere. I think Loki got shut into their house or garage. Then a car drove past, the dog stopped barking & 5 mins later Loki was on the window sill! Phew!

  • Michele Soyer

I have no impetus to move at all this morning! I will eventually get up make some more coffee and watch mass on utube…Something Italian for Sunday lunch and thatas about it…Music, my book and my painting… Happy Sunday all!

  • Shelly Peterson

Today I am spending time with a friend and then later going to my daughters to see all the grandkids, which include the new twin babies. 😁

  • Denise C

Today is uneventful. Just waiting for my husband to get home from work early today. We have tickets to see the new Tron movie in IMAX tonight. (I hope it doesn’t suck.)

  • l p

the day is going well. doing a quick check of pantry items and I was out of granulated sugar. so it’s off the store and hopefully avoid all the temptations they have there. enjoy your day and week-end. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

I really looked at the mish mash my pot cabinet is! What a mess.. that is my project for the day hanging ones up and organizing the rest…Happy Saturday..

  • Kate Sarsfield

One of my cats, Loki the tabby, hasn’t been home in 2 nights. He’s stayed out all night before but not for as long as this. Starting to get worried.

  • heather

Have to make a trip to the deli today. I am going to wing it today and not make list for the store. Hope you have a great Saturday.

  • Rose

We had the first frost of the year last night, everything was white frosted this morning like giant gingerbread. It is nice and cool out and Sunday is a big storm coming. I met with one of my neighbors today to chat for a while.

  • l p

the day is going well. nothing specific on the calendar but now it’s late and I’ve spent 80% of the day on the phone. whew – it sure can be tiring enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Had to go out for groceries today & took a trip to the nearest pet store to buy flea powder & drops. Don’t ask. Let’s just say I am not happy.

  • Tamra Phelps

I’ve just been witing for a telehealth appointment by messing around onlin ne and watching TV. Waiting to see if the hostages in the Middle East are finally released (I hope so!!) and watching the announcememnts about the Nobel Peace Prize. Maybe a slight sliver of light in a dark world.

  • Michele Soyer

Still have not gotten anything accomplished this morning except .. wait..I did do a 3 mile walking workout and a step workout.. then lots of coffee..Now I have to hoover, pledge, change linens and do a load of laundry…By 2I plan on finishing a wonderful show Finding Faith.. Happy Friday all!

  • Shelly Peterson

I’m having trouble sleeping so I am up already. Today I have dialysis and the grandkids. It’s going to be a long day.

  • Tamra Phelps

Went to the pulmonologist today. He wants me to do a sleep study so they can get the requirements for my bi-pap machine just right. Ugh. I hate the very idea but I guess I will have to. The idea of having to go sleep in one of those places hooked up to machines…

  • l p

the day is going well. up very early – too early – when a fire alarm went off across the street. lots of commotion. mercifully, it was a small fire that was under control within 15 minutes of the firetruck’s arrival. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

Groceries delivered early and a quick walk to the post office – yes there are a few people who still get physical cards from me…they hate e-greetings! LOL…now to figure out lunch and relax. Last evening was amazing the trail was lights in all the tall trees and the pumpkins were creatively painted in different topics – famous paintings, authors, movies so well done. They have the same trail at Christmas so I will definately go to that also…

    • Kate Sarsfield

Can’t beat that feeling of someone caring enough to buy a card & going to a post office to buy a stamp & posting it! I still buy birthday cards for sister & niece and always phone on the day to sing Happy Birthday.

We may get some rain today I sure hope so. It is a little chilly here this morning I have the heaters going for the first time this season.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I stayed in bed till noon. A bit achy after the Covid shot. Anyway, off to the rescue centre & a busy shift with several new litters of abandoned kittens since last week. They’re so tiny & vulnerable and their smell … love it!

  • heather

I slept in today sure couldn’t sleep last night. Now I can’t type already made a type-o on my comment on one of your posts. I’m just a little out of whack lately.

  • Rose

got groceries today, I haven’t been for a while, I keep putting it off. Which is good because it is the only way to use up things that you forget about !

  • l p

the day is going well. out early to do some volunteering. after lunch had an appointment to have the computer reparied. nice they can do some things by distance. fingers crossed the fix lasts a long time. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, this has been a dreary, dark kind of day. I mean it never really seemed to get daylight, lol. Rain, rain, rain. Ugh.

  • Michele Soyer

Yesterday my cheese making supplies came, so today I will be trying out some recipes – all semi-soft and a cottage cheese..I have wanted to try this for a long time and was making cottage cheese just with boiled cream and milk with vinegar and salt.. it turned but the curds were small…better luck with the proper ingredients. After I set the cheese a walk when the temp goes up..

    • Tamra Phelps

That sounds like a really interesting thing to me. I can’t wait to find out if you think the taste is worth the etra effort. I know real cheese is so much better than the stuff you pick up at the store.

      • Michele Soyer

I made the ricotta cheese yesterday…It worked really well and this morning I salted the batch and thinned it out a bit with cream – no more PollyO for my lasagna!

the day is going well. it’s bread-baking day so there was lots to do. the place smells so wonderful, I could just sit down and eat a whole loaf (but I won’t). enjoy your day. Happy Birthday Susie B. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

  • Kate Sarsfield

I had a 10am appt for my Covid & flu shots. Finally got seen at 11.45 🙁 I dropped off to sleep twice! It’s Budget Day tomorrow so I got petrol, just in case they raise excise duty again.

Plan on working around the house today. I did a ton of running around yesterday and my feet still hurt. I cannot seem to purchase a comfortable pair of shoes to save my life.

  • Jennifer Wilson

Working on a major declutter. There is too much stuff in the house (my mom was a borderline hoarder, then my husband brought a ton of stuff when he moved in, and he always finds goodies at thrift shops — and we inherited a bunch of stuff when his grandfather died, and I think we had 15 carloads of stuff when my grandmother died. We need space!) Our washer has quit working, so DH is headed to the laundramat while I am going to enjoy some down time at home. My nephew is almost six months old and I haven’t even started on his cross stitch birth announcement.

Lately, the world seems like such a hopeless place, you know??? I mean, I sometimes despair for the entire human race. People seem to have almost lost the capacity to even care. Okay, I know I’m exaggerating. Just feeling it today.

the day is going well. went out for a long walk this morning. it certainly is Autumn but the sun was shining to I’ll take it. did some volunteering and now on to paper/desk work. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

My power keeps cutting in & out but the electricity emergency team said it was ok to use it. They’ve managed to restore power to most of the town so hopefully they should get to me soon. Spent the day tidying up the garden of fallen leaves and branches. No damage done, thankfully.

the day is going well. out to a concert last night and got home late. kind of tired today but I’m finding the energy I need to attend a birthday dinner this evening (fingers crossed). enjoy your day. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Just back from John’s funeral. So sad, but warm and funny as well. The storm blew down a live power line off my roof! The emergency guys have been to check that there’s no immediate risk to life or limb, but where it is it’s ok till they come back later on.

      • Kate Sarsfield

Aw, he was. Just one of life’s nice people. A school principal & farmer, loved the arts, nature and his family, hated injustice. The sort of person we could do with a lot more of.

  • Suzie B

Im having a horrible week; I just cant seem to catch a break and it’s really really breaking me down. My birthday is in 2 days and I dont feel like I have anything to celebrate!

  • Michele Soyer

It is supposed to be 90 degrees today! After breakfast, with list in hand off to the shoppes…Hitting Home Goods, Sierra and of course the Dollar Tree. Aldi maybe if I still have ability to carry more.. Happy Saturday all!

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, I expected to go to a normal doctor’s appointment today. Instead it turned into a 4 hour ordeal, lol. They decided I needed an antibiotic that has to be given by IV, so I had to go down to infusion and do that at the hospital–fortunately the doctor’s office in at the hospital so at least it didn’t mean going to another building. Then I waited over an hour for my ride home. Geeze, I am so tired!

  • Kate Sarsfield

Drove through Storm Amy to get my car’s annual health check done. It failed 🙁 Need a brake disc replaced. I have 1 month to get it done & re-tested or it’ll be illegal to be on the road. The power went just as I got back home so put the shopping away but decided to eat a tub of ice cream. No point opening the freezer, right? Will pop into my mechanic in the morning on my way to the funeral,

  • l p

the day is going well. busy morning so I have a leisurely evening to attend a concert I’ve been looking for, for quite some time. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

A new month. lets see what it brings. It has been so warm and lovely that I cannot even do my courses – just want to sit in the sun and read…Planning on visiting the local shoppes tomorrow so a list must be made…
Right now all I plan on doing is making a pot of coffee and binging Slow Horses!

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, I was supposed to have a telehealth appointment today and I was online waiting…but then the assistant came on and told me an emergency had come up and we had to reschedule. Oh well, at least it was online so I didn’t leave the house for nothing, lol. Kate, I hate to hear about your neighbor. It’s terrible how quickly cancer can take someone. I had a great-aunt who found out she had lung cancer and though she seemed to be doing okay she died in less than a week. I’m glad he got to spend his last days at home. That is something, at least.

  • Kate Sarsfield

As well as the remnants of a hurricane, we’ve also got the first storm of the season to look forward to. Went to pay my respects to my neighbour’s family. He looked so small, just a shell of the man he once was. The funeral’s on Saturday morning.

  • Annmarie Weeks

My day’s been good so far. Nothing exciting going on, and that’s the way I like it! Besides, it’s nice weather too – a bit cooler in the mid-60s, sunny with a breeze. It’s nice to have the windows open!

  • Shannon Mitchell

Well, my morning was kind of wasted. I had a doctor’s appointment and the doctor was called out for a delivery right before my appointment, so they had me sitting there for an hour and a half before they told me what was going on. Nice surprise for the lady having twins, I guess. Afternoon is going better so far.

  • Kate Sarsfield

My lovely neighbour, John, has died. He came home from hospital last Wed. & went downhill really quickly. Thankfully, he had 24-hour hospice care at home, in his own bed. There’s a ‘lying-in’ at home tomorrow afternoon so I’ll go to say goodbye.

  • Tamra Phelps

Connie, you should totally start making smaller figures like Lucille for the crafts fair, lol. Okay, maybe something a little more Christmasy and less creepy!! But the same general idea. Maybe krampus or mean elves, lol. Angry Santa. For people who have no holiday spirit.

  • Heather

Happy October to all. I am setting up my new computer this morning and it’s exhausting been dreading it but my old one quit working yesterday. Oh well, new month new computer onward and upward!
