August was a busy month for me. Started physical therapy for my hands to my shoulders. How many times to I yell “Aging is NOT FOR SISSIES?!” Well, I’m yelling it again.
My craftroom is as busy as ever. Between the laser and the wild hair I had to create a ummm ghost? Creature? Witch? I dunno exactly what it is. I just know that when I created Francis. (My Mom and my Grandpa’s middle names) I have loved the looks that Francis gets and the fact that Francis held up so well I wanted a TALL version. SO, Lucille (my Grandma’s middle name) was born. (Technically, she isn’t done yet) So if you follow me on Instagram you will see her develop. I’m stumped right now. Not a fan of the red color.
I also received a new Trail Camera from WOSPORTS and it’s AAWESOMEEEEEEE!! It also means more hikes to switch out the SD cards and see who has visited. I THINK once Lucille is done I will hide the camera near her and see what my guests think of her. Good idea? Right?

Now that all the windows are clean Halloween/Fall lights are going up! After I’d typed up yesterday’s comment the doorbell rang. Michael, the son of my lovely neighbour (just diagnosed with cancer) called up to say he’d caught a stray cat in his Dad’s porch. What should he do? It had been getting into his & his Dad’s houses & pinching food, spraying etc. He’s got an aunt who was looking for an outside farm cat so I got a carrier, caught the cat in it & kept it in a cage in my shed overnight. He’s just collected it to give to the aunt to take to the vet to check for a microchip & if not registered, for neutering. Sorted! Happy neighbours, happy aunt & hopefully, happy home for cat.

Well, I don’t feel any different at all! Not sure what I was expecting. Certainly nothing as momentous as a monument in my honour, or even some great spark of worldly wisdom, but just something to ring the changes. Then I remembered that pensionable age is a movable feast, dependant on economic & social demands so decided that as long as I had some chocolate, I’d get through! My lovely neighbour, now in hospital being ‘built up’ for chemo/surgery, remembered my birthday & sent his wife with 2 big bags of goodies. Books, chocolate, cake – what more does a body need (apart from cats, obviously!)?

Well I feel like i accomplished something this morning for a change! Made cinnamon buns for breakfast and did some more baking to finish up all the baking chocolate and cherries I had….Freezer is now stocked with goodies…Finally hoovered the whole place and ran another washing load…pressing almost done..who still presses ? me…I have decided to buy a walking pad – with the weather, before you know it, getting really cold I won’t be able to walk any more so that is my solution… My book awaits…

Today was the day for putting up a shelf. It’s quite big but do-able. I lost interest half way through! I will finish it later but right now, I’m not bothered. Just can’t seem to get moving these days. Very tired, maybe that’s why. One day, I’ll have doors to all the rooms so I can shut the cats in at night, rather than having them wandering around, waking me every flipping hour, every flipping night!

the day is going well. spent the morning putting a gift together for an 80 year-old friend. ended up making a basket of goodies of lemon honey from the local farmers’ market, lminated scones baked this morning, applesauce and applebutter made with apples from neighbour’s tree, some apple tarts, fresh apples – all consumables. then met up with them and friends for lunch. we all had a great time. enjoy your day and week-end. thanks

We’ve got a couple of dry days on the way (HOORAY) so laundry was top of the to-do list. After that, headed into town to buy a new charger for my very old phone and to find out if my laptop can be fixed. €100 to fix it or a new one for €150 so decided on the new one. Paid a small deposit & will pay it off bit by bit when I can. Then headed to the hardware shop to buy brackets for putting up shelves and they had a ‘free-of-charge’ trolley of garden bulbs. Picked up some lily of the valley & fritillaria! Happy days.

I am over on the WOSPORTS website checking out the WOSPORTS Night Vision Binoculars NV400. I really had no idea that something like these were even available. We so need a pair of these. the day is going well. up early to start the bread-baking, while it was rising, went to an appointment. it was on time so I was able to get home at just the right time to continue with the bread. then off to get a few craft supplies.

It’s going really well. I didn’t have a replacement, but they do get you up and walking right after those. I just had my meniscus repaired becasue it was torn. I stayed off of it almost completely for about 3 days and it healed pretty quickly!

We went to Arkansas for the national sweeps convention, and while we were there a train carrying hazardous chemicals crashed behind our house. The train company said nothing escaped. Good day today at the rescue centre. We were short-handed but got through it & finished early. More pension stuff to get through when I got home. I’ve got the pension sorted and qualify for a ‘living alone’ allowance, fuel allowance for the winter and even a couple of euro every week towards my phone bill! I’ll be a bit better off just with this but I’ve got a small private pension as well. I’ll be able to pay my bills AND save some every week! Now if I can find a way to stop Bryn opening the fridge door looking for goodies …

More rain. The dirty laundry pile is growing taller but with no washer or dryer, I’m dependent on the weather. Did I tell you guys about O’Malley? He was a ginger tomcat, a stray, who fought with my lot, giving them abcesses. He also used to get in the house, steal food & spray everywhere. Anyway, I’d had enough & luckily he’s so friendly I got him into a carrier, took him to the vet, got him neutered & vax, etc. Had him tested for Feline Aids and thankfully he’s negative. Brought him to the rescue centre & he’s just been adopted by a lovely lady! Winners all round! Now, just one more stray living in the shed to befriend …
