August was BUSY! Doctor visits galore for The Husband. I hired a handyman!! Bryce is 17. He is freakishly STRONG and WICKED smart!! With his help, we got a ditch dug. Front garden weeded, raked, and looking good- okay, not good, but better. At least it’s not as embarrassing. We weeded outside the craftroom door. Built my swing. Probably my favorite job was moving Lucielle.
We moved Lucielle so she was looking out to the road, and added some solar lights to make her really stand out at night. I was laughing the entire time. Knowing I was going to scare the entire mountain. THEN went to the road and realized IT’S TOO FAR AWAY to see her!! Dog gone it. But Lucielle stays where she is. She is HEAVY!! I’ll just have to pretend she is scaring people.
Bryce has been so much help! AND he’s fun to work with. Now, if only I could find a housekeeper to work with me.
Walter is still growing like a weed. 7-month weigh-in: Mr. Walter weighs 100.1. He isn’t a fan of the tape measure so this is close but not exact. Top of head is 38″; the middle of his back to the floor 30″; from tail to nose is 49″
Whew. Dat’s a big baby lap dog.

The car’s in the garage since yesterday – nothing major, just checking everything before it’s annual test next month. In between the drizzle I planted yellow crocuses & lots of daffy dillies ready for Spring. Much cooler now, leaves beginning to change colour & fall. Just over 3 1/2 months till Christmas, Connie! Time to give Winston a dust down!

Cool fall weather coming in – the air smells so fresh and clean…did the laundry, vacuumed and washed the kitchen and bathroom floors…. I can see that the outside windows are dusty again but doing them every week or so is ridiculous going to wait awhile….all that is left is the patio and making lunch.. still waiting to hear my volunteering schedule…my friend already let me know hockey season will be here soon so get ready..lol

Well, thanks a bunch, Tamra! Once again, as soon as your UTI starts to get better, I get one. I will remember this. ps: the nurse gave me tablets called utipro Plus for control & prevention of UTIs. Basically a probiotic for the urinary tract. Maybe worth a thought if you’ve not heard of it (which I hadn’t). You’re welcome.

What a day! Had a Dr.s appt this morning, then a 50 min trip to the nearest vet to buy some worming stuff for the cats. Popped into a supermarket on the way back to go to the loo; did a HUGE poo then discovered that the flush didn’t work! I snuck out of there as quickly as I could and will never show my face in there again! Then my laptop died. Luckily I knew it was on the way out & bought a refurbished one a couple of months ago and am now trying to set it up.

Had a plan to walk today but the sky is dark and looks like any minute it will open and pour…Back on the treadmill for me..later on plan on getting back in touch with the food bank and soup kitchen about a schedule for volunteering and also to make appts for the elderly and disabled…all their summer volunteers have gone back to university….

It is a nice enough day today, it rained i the morning, now clear. I made whole wheat muffins, and baked the cranberry walnut oatmeal bars, now out of the oven. Did some cleaning. Not a holiday too much today, but it is not sweltering hot, and can enjoy being home.

Just got in the door from doing some serious grocery shopping had to go to three different stores to get everything that I needed. I gotta say… I saw ZERO big deals out there for the holiday weekend. I did notice that gas went way up here overnight because we weren’t paying enough! Sorry, the whole trip just stressed me out.

UTI finally starting to feel a little better, so at least there’s that, lol. Leg not as bad as before but I know it’s mostly the steroids. Hopefully, it heals fairly quicky. Usually pinched nerves, in my experience, can go as quickly as they came…so fingers crossed.

It is a nice day today. It started with a surprise “reminder” for Jury duy coming up asap, that I never got the original letter! oh oh. I finally get thru and they admit I did not get the original, as it was sent back to them as undeliverable due to typos in the address to me. But they were still going to hold my feet to the fire, but I hav no car, and no way to get there, so I was able to get excused. Our state changed the age for jury duty to 75, and not optional for older people such as over 65, or over 70. Mandatory.

Well, you know where I am, about 3 miles from the nearest town, Swinford, County Mayo, in the west of Ireland, in a townland called Cloonfinnaun. The house name ‘Corris’, is the name of the tiny mountain village in the North of Wales where Mum was born & reared, There were 2 slate signs at the last house in Wexford & H.got one and I brought mine to here. Nostalgia aside, my view is something I look forward to each & every day, Green fields, a mountain in the distance, and peace, perfect peace, apart from the sound of traffic on the main road. Never heard the traffic before a huge storm/hurricane hit and demolished so many trees back in Jan. 2025. It literally flattenened most of the conifers between here & the main road, hence the noise I hear now. By the way, there’s a small international airport, 30 miles to the north-east of here, Knock (Google it!), in case any of ye care to pop in!
