Is it just my little world or is it everywhere; but seems that thank you notes are becoming a lost art. When my kids were growing up, before the presents could be played with the thank you cards had to be written. I’m so pleased that to this day my 30+ year old children still send thank you cards. It’s so important to teach our kids to be THANKFUL!! I truly believe if we don’t teach our children to be thankful, they will grow up to believe they are just entitled to, well, everything!

I believe you should start young teaching children to write a thank you note. A scribble still tells Grammy that she is loved. Parents you can also translate. If you use a card that already has the words Thank You printed on it; well, you are half way there. For kids and adults I have a couple of quick steps to writing a thank you note.

A Thank You note has to have 3 basic things. Yup, that’s all. THREE!!

First you need a greeting. My favorite hint here is SPELL their name correctly!! My son’s name is Zachary. He goes by Zac. NOT Zach. One little letter makes a big difference. You can’t go wrong with Dear

Next; say thank you!! These really are the 2 most important parts of a thank you note.

Thank you for the ………
Even WOW! you made my WEEK!! Thank you for…………..

If the thank you is someone close to you don’t be afraid to be funny! My very favorite actually came from a card that I sent to a friend, I’ve been using it ever since:

“Thank you from the bottom of my butt. I would have said heart but my butt is WAY bigger”. Let your personality shine!

It doesn’t have to be hard!! For instance “Thank you for the AWESOME wallet! I use it everyday!” A thank you note doesn’t have to be long and drawn out.

My very favorite tip? Using a pretty Thank You card. Nothing makes me want to write a thank you card more than a pretty card. I love great stationary. Palmer Street Press has some beautiful cards!!
