I had a real nice long chat with an old friend. She told me she has been dog sitting and took the dog out at 7 am, the dog saw a cat and took off. My dogs made me happy today. I got an Italian Greyhound about a year ago, and it has taken (and is still taking) time to get him fully house trained. Today he went out in the backyard with my older dog and stayed out there longer than just enough time to step off the patio and take care of his business. I’ve read that the IG breed tends to be mischievous and have been dealing with this behavior since he came here. But, he now sleeps in the bed with me instead of his cage and is making small steps toward being a good dog most of the time. I love him so much, he looks like a fawn sometimes.

What made me happy today was seeing a worksheet my son did at school. He just recently learned to spell and write “mom” and knows I’m super proud of him and love seeing him write my “name.” On the worksheet it shows three different seeds they glued on and shows how to write their name with dotted lines to write it theirselves. I could see where he had written “mom” on each line and (poorly) erased it. I asked him about it and he said he was writing “mom” to make me happy but then erased it since he wasn’t following directions. He is such a sweetheart and made my day!

Hahahaha! I walked into the shower today and turned on the shower. So I notice movement and I see a big spider skittering around and start screaming. It was tanish so I was worried it was poisonous (like a brown recluse) and I smashed it with a shampoo bottle. So I hear Chris yelling what is wrong and the next thing I know he is in the bathroom with me. He was also getting ready to use the other shower down the hall so he was naked and he said “I was so worried and I ran down here and the people driving down the road got to see me in all my glory”….HAHAHAHAHA the windows were open.

Today was a very hard day. My old hometown was hit by a tornado last night and was devastated. Hard to watch, hard to know about all the suffering. However, in the midst of it all, there are so many blessings. To watch the town rally and start to dig out the mess and hug those hurting, is a testament to the power of the human spirit. It made me happy to be reminded of the amazing people I used to call neighbors, and continue to call friends.

Um…not today but yesterday I looked outside to check on my dog. So I look out and I see her and she is fine. She hardly ever barks and Chris told me there has been a lot of animal theft lately. Like people taking other people’s animals and then selling them on Craigslist. So I check on her all of the time since we do not have a fence. So anyway. I am getting ready to close the curtains and I notice movement out of the corner of my eye. I look and I see a Robin. It is in my dog’s water bowl splashing water on itself and having a good old time. So I laugh about it and then I tell my husband about it. He laughed about that every time he thought about it the whole day. It was funny because he didn’t even see it and he got more laughter out of it. He dumped the water out, washed it out good and got her fresh water. So I walked outside today to get the mail and I looked at Sorcha and said “Don’t let that bird get into your water bowl! He laughed and laughed (he heard me since the windows were opened).
