Time For The $50 Your Way Giveaway April 2025

It’s time for my monthly $50 YOUR Way Giveaway. If you are new here, you choose how you want your prize. PayPal, Venmo, or Gift Card.

Also, if you are new here; this first little bit is my ‘catch-up’ of what has happened on The Mountain for the previous month. So…… March was WEIRD weather-wise. We had snow that would melt before morning. LOTs of rain. IN IDAHO, ON A MOUNTAIN I have NO SNOW?! None? Again I have to say WEIRDEST WINTER EVER!

Health wise; the surgery on my right hand and forearm went well (scars are gnarly! Wanna see??) Except, I don’t think that was the fix. Because (here comes the whine….) the pain continues. I still feel like I rolled my arms in fiberglass. Doctor Google here (me!) just doesn’t know where or what to try next. The REAL doctor is also stumped. I could really use some strength back in my hands that’s for sure. Oh well, enough whining. ON with the GIVEAWAY!!

I have appointments every day next week. That makes me want to scream, lol. I hate doctors appointments with a passion–I mean they seem like a huge waste of time lately. Nothing is ever solved.

  • Tamra Phelps

Had to go for a CT of my sinuses today. Ugh. Laying flat on that scanner is a pain, literally (my back, lol.) And I have had a weird vertigo since I had sepsis 7 years ago–laying completely flat makes the room spin for me. Glad it’s over.

  • l p

the day is going well. out and about early to take yesterday’s baking to friends and family – always fun. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Plans were to do nothing today………………. Great nieces school was closed because they didn’t have power. Niece got her power last night about 7.
So Zayada wanted to spend the days with me. Of course we had to go to walmart………… and for some reason she is is to a lot of skin care stuff. Looked at toys but never asked for anything except SLIME………………. AND I HAVE A FIRM NO I DON’T BUY SLIME.

Inside and out she played and talks to everybody

Now I am going to fix something to eat and go to bed early LOL

  • heather

Just got done changing the bedding on my bed that is a major workout! I have tons of pillows. I think I need to take a break now. Have a great day.

  • Michele Soyer

Back to work today.. laundry, vacuuming then outside to sweep! Yesterday the drapes for the dining room slider came- very pretty and a great material – pressing them today then up they go! Still have not figured out the best bus for the trip to Minneapolis, will do that today I hope!

  • Rose

I made a bunch of soaps today for admin assistant day coming up Wed. Three kinds – aloe vera, lavender, and lilac. Then made labels, and gift wrapped, etc.

  • gloria patterson

Our county was hit bad with “microbursts” power out all over place. My building was very lucky we had power. Turns out one of my nieces that lives 5 miles from me is out of power till at least tuesday. There are electric poles down all over the area. Going out to my brothers was stopped in traffic for one lane. Right beside me was a electric pole laying in a ditch. The top of it was black and split. Over ten miles of homes were out. My other niece lives 4 miles from her mother and their power was out. My sister law lucked out they had power! Great dinner left over home with me. While there people were on the deck and chickens everwhere. Somebody told Zay (great niece 8) they would give her $5 to catch a chicken! Other people started saying how much they would give her.

She has never so much as touch a live chicken much less pick one up. Lets say she caught her chicken and made $50+ for doing it. (have pictures posted on facebook)

    TODAY DOING NOTHING………….. LAZY LAZY

  • heather

Hope everyone had a really nice Easter Sunday. I bought an Easter lily and I have it on the kitchen table now the entire kitchen smells so heavenly. I did a lot of cooking and cleaning up yesterday and I am a little worn out today but we have lots of yummy left overs to eat.

  • Michele Soyer

Easter Monday – last day of the holiday…Plan on doing nothing again today but reading and listening to music…Tomorow I will start again…I have to organize the trip to Minneapolis on Thursday by bus….exvited about going to the institute of art….

    • Rose

I haven’t made pizza now in a long time! I was making it every week for a while, from scratch. Now I’m hungry thinking about all this homemade pizza!

  • gloria patterson

    Happy Easter to all

Lots of rain & wind around here last night. Power off, time I got flashlights out and on our power was back on. Never blinked again. Was reading on facebook that power was off all over the county. This moring the news said that there were still 45,000 people without power at 5am.

Have not done much today, even got a hour nap in. Off to my brother soon dinner is at four.

Right now the temp is 70 BUT I am planning on wearing a jacket just in case,

  • Michele Soyer

Went to 8am mass this morning and the service was lovely…Sitting here with a fresh cup of coffee and just relaxing.. Made my ham last night and the scaloped potatoes are in the oven…cole slaw and some string beand and cherry cheesecake for dessert…Some single malt and the day will be perfect…

  • l p

the day is going well. out early to get some flowers to take to a friend. the tulips are particularly bright so I got a dozen. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Well I was downstairs doing laundry this morning at 4 am…………. I was awake so go do it. Got back everything in to drawers or hung up on hangers. Cart put away and about 6:30 I was in the recliner dead to the world till almost 11

About the only thing I have done today is on the computer and to get stuff ready to go to dinner tomorrow. My sister in law always cooks (and they just got back from a 10 day cruise) and she is a great cook. And me I always go to krogers and just pick up something to add to the desert tray.

  • Rose

The slow cooker is fired up, making a beef soup with carrots, celery and noodles. Just sampled it, good! Homemade is the best.

  • heather

Ahh man I really didn’t feel like going anywhere today but I forgot sliced pineapple and rolls for tomorrow so looks like I will be going to the store later this morning. I really need to get back to making a shopping list my memory can’t be trusted.

  • Michele Soyer

An easy day today – prepping for tomorrows meal then nothing but my book and listening to Jesus Christ superStar all teh recordings…Ted still IMO does the best Gethsame..

  • gloria patterson

I left here for Krogers about 8:15 it was almost 50 but a cold wind blowing. I had on sweats and a hoodie. In krogers people were in shorts, tank tops etc.

Had to pick up a prescription, then got gas. It pays to shop on friday had a $1.00 off a gallon.

Had a long nap and now do some computer stuff.

    • heather

I always shake my head when I see people in the store wearing shorts when it is freezing out! But the ones who are wearing thier pajamas in the store really make me shake my head right in front of them!!!! lol

        • gloria patterson

Heather I never worry about spelling errors………… sometimes my fingers go faster then my mind tells them to LOL

One of my great nieces used to take her son to school drop off in her PJ’s and THEN would stop at the store. That is a big NO to me. Everbody has time to pull on a pair of sweats.

  • Michele Soyer

Up and out early to go to mass then ubered back home…pressed and did the rest of the laundry .. swiffered the kitchen floor and ran the hoover…relaxing for the rest of the day ecept to cook.. salmon today ..

  • Rose

OK, so I am dyeing one shirt, and another bleaching…. my order from ThredUp, which I look forward to, but a “yellow” top was neon greenish yellow, so that I toned down with some beige dye, it is now yellow. A top I got had some small brown spots that I could not get out, so put a couple dabs of bleach, and now bleached the whole top so it is now light turquoise instead of regular tourquoise. I figure if I ruined them with experimenting, no big deal b/c they are inexpensive from being second hand. Now doing mending, taking out some spring things and noticing a few tiny holes. Salvaging everything except that some things are now really tight from putting on weight, so kind of hooker style now LOL.

  • heather

I am doing some work out in the yard today should be nice out here. I did some running around yesterday and wandered into the local Goodwill store. I haven’t been there in a few years and I wanted to get some mens t-shirts large/x-large I like to wear them when I am doing work around the house. Well, all of their t-shirts were like $10.00 and up! I did find one that was $7.00 but it looked like someone used it to wash their car! I’m sorry, I’m an not paying $10.00 and up for a used t-shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • gloria patterson

Heather prices at goodwill are HIGH!! They are forgetting that people are looking for low prices. They are thinking that somebody is finding all these great deals to resale. Somebody posted a picture on facebook, goodwill was selling a plastic container with lid for $3.99 and it was a take out dish.

      • heather

Hi Gloria, I am still not over my Goodwill trip really bums me out and I won’t be back! I can go to Walmart and buy a new t-shirt for less than that. That is crazy to read that they were selling a take out dish for $3.99. I just heard yesterday that the DollarTree will be raising their prices again and that bums me out!

  • gloria patterson

I have not got much done at all today. Quick visit with my mother then downstair to get ice cream. Had a big crowd so I sat there and talked and laughed with most of them. When I finally got home the day just got away from me.

  • l p

the day is going well. up early to get some shopping done before the rain comes. picked up some special cakes at the bakery for a friend as their car gave out yesterday. home before the rain hit. thanks enjoy your day.

  • Tamra Phelps

I miss Kate being able to comment, Connie! Any idea why she can’t? She said it was saying 401 or 501 error or something–I googld that and it just said server error. I’m clueless about those things. Not a lot going on today. A normal day.

  • Michele Soyer

Up early and first raise is giving me a chance to do some emails…I musta dmit I love baking days.. the whole house will smell amazing and the end product so pretty…Things have changed yet stay the same.. my husband used to do the deliveries and now my daughter does them…plan on a quiet evening as she is going out and about tonight…

  • heather

I have to do some running around this morning grocery store, post office etc. Still getting ready for Easter this weekend. Have a good day out there.

  • gloria patterson

I have had a busy day………. left here at 7:15 (trafic) for a 8am eye appointment. To check how my cataract eyes are doing and checking my floaters in my left eye. He ask me if I was using reading glasses………NO and I read a lot. Everything looks great, and if floaters change or I see flashes of light call in at once. Also had him write me a prescription of my eye sight NO GLASSES needed. My license (need a new one in a couple of months) says I need corective lenses.

Almost 9 am……………… my next appointment RIGHT WHERE I AM AT this moment is at 1 pm. So I go home do a few things, get something to eat. Get my stuff together and headed out for next appointment. Get stopped “where you going” … Ruby…………….OH I looked at her, where are you needing to go less then a mile in the other direction. Come on I will take you. Pulmonary Dr I am doing really great, she is thinking about dropping another one of my inhalers. Last year I was taking 3 and now down to 2………..

Home something to eat and Z shows up with CC (3) and MJ (7 months) Nothing like holding and playing with that baby and sending him home.

Few more computers things and I am done……………………

    • heather

WOW! Sounds like one busy day! You are so brave to have two appointments in one day that would send me over the edge for sure. I am starting to get eye floaters too.

      • gloria patterson

Heather I am starting to worry about this relationship we have going LOL I tell you when I first got them scared me bad!! NOW somedays I stop and think “ARE THEY STILL THERE” Then I will see something floating by! To tell the truth I just debated staying in my good parking spot and just taking a nap. THEN I figured I would wake up and have to go to bathroom………….. so home I go!!!!!!!

  • l p

the day is going well. spent a good part of it fighting with the printer. it finally yielded and printed off the documents I needed. fingers crossed that it will continue to behave. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

Had a very productive shopping excursion yesterday but no sales thats fine the clothing was lovely…Today we already had a grocery delivery – all put away – and now a few plants to re-pot.. Tomorow I will bake for Good Friday – plan on making a for Easter breads for my neighbors….

  • Tamra Phelps

I feel like there is so much I need to get done (just normal housekeeping stuff like find a place for storing some clothes)–but I am so lazy, lol. Actually, I’m more achy than lazy. My hands ache, my back aches, my arms ache, and on and on. When you need your hands and arms just to move around, it gets hard to do stuff when they ache. Hopefully, the weather will warm up and some aches will ease up.

    • gloria patterson

      Tamra
I know what you mean about aches, its a bitch being old. For me heat really helps. You may already have something but for me RICE BAGS ARE THE BEST. The quick and easy way is to fill a tube sock with RICE and tie a knot in the top. Microwave (depends on your microwave) 2 minute or so. The sock fits so nice in the center of your back. Or it you have a sewing mach sew 2 wash rags together, fill with rice and sew the top.

  • Rose

My box of thrift clothese from ThredUp arrived and yippee – all good! Summer tees and a couple pairs of shorts that are like legging fabirc.

  • l p

Have decided that I am either getting a cold (hot/cold weather) OR Allergies are kicking me. The strange part have never had allergies.

  • Michele Soyer

From the 24th to the 27th there is going to be a special exhibition in the art institute of “flowers in bloom” so making arrangements to go to see that…hopefully there will be an open art / craft sale here by me….as for today a quick uber to the mall to see if we can get outfits for the ballet.. planning on a dinner out first…lovely treat by my daughter for Mothers Day weekend….I feel so grateful…

It was a very nice truly Spring day today! I love this weather, and the green buds are starting to come forth. I was busy today, but mostly a little of this and that. I have paint from Sherwin Williams to paint the bathroom, a pure white, right now it is almost cream.

  • Tamra Phelps

It was a nice 76 out there today, but then it stormed. That seems to be the trade-off in Spring, I guess. Temps are supposed to drop again, though. So Winter just won’t leave.

  • l p

  • Rose

Oh it has been snowing today. Not too much accumulation, but brrrry cold and a good day to stay in! I’m getting things together to make aloe vera soap for administrative assistant day. I was trying to find scents and types that most people would like. So I figure that is green, so springy, and a scent most will think is OK, not too strong, etc. I just got an aloe vera stamp, too, so I’m psyched to try the new stamp!!

  • heather

It has beed one jacked up morning here. First I had soap still in the lid of my stainless steel tumbler so when I went to take a drink of my hot tea this morning I got a nice mouthful of soap. So then I made another cup of tea and cleaned out my tumbler then when I went to take a drink I burned my tongue because my tea was too hot. Then the wifi has been up and down all morning making me pull my hair out! I am ready to go back to bed………..

    • gloria patterson

heather I would have been in bed after the soap mouthful fo tea…………………. LOL LOL LOL

SOME DAYS IT DOES NOT PAY TO GET OUT OF BED 🙂

  • Polly Hall

  • Tamra Phelps

Geeze, I’m starting to feel overbooked with doctors appointments, lol. All the follow-up appts. which are basically pointless… but I have to get dressed, wait for the bus, and sit around waiting for the doctor, then wait for the bus again. Ugh.

  • l p

the day is going well. today’s to-do list is long but doable, especially with the weather we have today. enjoy your day. thanks

  • heather

Happy Friday! The weather here today is going to be just perfect around 70 degrees. I am going to be doing some work outside today. We had a lot of wind here yesterday so I will be picking out things and putting them back were they go. Oh and I am making fish and chips for dinner.

I am not a “no I can’t do this person” but that NO..wound up ubering the rest of the way – a short distance.. Was the grocery worth it? It was a beautiful store large, clean and guess what? expensive! LOL..Bought a few things and 2 really lovely plants and ubered home…no lottery sold there so off today to a shoppe that does!

  • heather

I see the form is not working today. I will come back later and check again. I am just doing stuff around the house today more cleaning. I am really getting into the spring cleaning mood been throwing a lot of stuff away lately.

  • Rose

Wowzer it was really cold out today. Glad I changed my plans last minute as I would have walked out expecting warm and sunny brrrrrrr. Listening to several town meetings tonight, including public hearings over several issues. It is interesting, and I wonder how it will shake out they want to way up on the mill rate…. ouch!

  • gloria patterson

Started out to be a lazy day. Cleaned, trimmed my aero gardens, filled water etc. Took trash out.

GOT a phone call from Chris my student dental person. He had a cancelation could I come at 1 pm. Sure not doing anything else. So I am there at 1 and we get started. He is doing this and that, checking & numbers (I have no ideal) BUT all this had to be done When done teacherS checked and OK’d to go to cleaning my teeth. Turns out I have been kinda lucky………….. only have one cavity. Then he cleaned and polished my teacher and teachers checked and OK’d everthing again.
    1pm to 4:10…………………. I just knew it was going to cost another arm & leg. {{{{The dental school is cheaper then a regular dentist (they say) I paid almost $400 for full mouth xrays and dental assement.{{{{{

Turns out I still had some credit and ended up paying only $17.00 today. When ever next appointment is he will fill one tooth. And then start to prepare for doing a bridge on that front tooth……………..

    Stopped at McD for dinner

  • Tamra Phelps

Sort of a slow day. I’m still trying to sort things out around here after spwnding that month away. The issue is I get tired easily, lol. So I take my time. I’m bout able to get one big chore done a day, lol. Yesterday, I cleared all the clutter that had seemed to build up in the living room–you know, you put stuff down and leave it and then it piles up and you have to clear the table/desk/whatever.

    • gloria patterson

Tamra girl one of my main rules is everything has a home ……………… and that is where it goes.

You just have to figure out a plan to get it there or its place. Less stressful for you.

  • l p

the day is going well. a few appointments taken care of and visiting with family and friends. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

Had a good time shopping yesterday…bought a plant and some peat pots for seeds…some pretty pastel candles searched the clothes and so surprised that mixed in a sweatshirt rack was a trench coat marked down to $25 from $50 lined and very good quality and in my size.. today it is 20 degrees but hopefully it will warm up – want to take a walk to another grocery chain I have never been to about 1 1/2 miles away…we shall see…

I made chicken today with a homemade BBQ spice blend. I was amazed how good the spice blend is – it has about 14 different spices, though and brown sugar, but wow. I was thinking this could be a good gift for someone who likes this kind of thing.

Well, now we are freezing again, literally. Yep, it’s below freezing at night for a few days. Where did spring go???

  • Richelle Leffler

I’ve never been out of Ohio before so I don’t really have any travel tips. My daughter did go on a Washington trip with her class, she had a lot of fun. I’m happy my daughter has got to experience some traveling.

Home ever thing put away, made a sandwich from left over chicken.

This is another one of those is it really spring????? Blooming trees, grass growing, flowers blooming…..

MY HEAT IS RUNNING AND IT IS GOING TO SNOW LATER TODAY……….. (maybe)

  • Heather

It’s been a sad morning here this morning. I am missing our dog a lot. It’s going to take a while to learn to adjust to life without her. I need to keep my mind busy today might get the tires rotated on my car.

  • Michele Soyer

Out this morning after breakfast..We have never been to the Walmart here – it is fairly close but not walkable – so uber it shall be…Who knows what bargains we will get…

  • l p

the day is going well. lots on the list today and have to get at it despite the miserable weather. hopefully it will stop raining and warm up soon. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Rose

It is an overcast and a little bit rainy day today, but I love them! I feel guilt free to stay in. I also realized that I’m a pluviophile – never realized that is a thing. I feel my heart sing on rainy days!

  • gloria patterson

WIDE AWAKE AT 3:30 ………………… could not go back to sleep

Finally got up, got laundry together ………………. downstairs to do it. Back all put away and hung up. I DON’T OWN ANY THING THAT NEEDS IRONING. I DON’T OWN A IRON………..

Been doing a little of this and that. Some weird reason I don’t want a nap………………..

  • heather

Our 17 year old dog passed away last night and we are burying her this morning. Heavy hearts here today. This past week has not been a good one that’s for sure…

  • Michele Soyer

We had a lovely evening – a good time was had by all…after breakfast laundry and a quick vacuum….Lots of leftovers so no cooking today just reading and listening to music!

  • Tamra Phelps

I spent hours trying to ut together a little shelf I bought on Amazon, lol. I hate those little ‘L’ shaped screwdrivers they put in those things! So useless!

    • gloria patterson

      Tamra
I know what you are talking about ……… Got a small bookcase, I called that bookcase ever name in the book. Finally threw the directions away and put it together without them. That tool is a allen wrench and I bought a folding allen wrench set and it has a BIG handle on it…………… a lot easier to use.

SO DID YOU GET IT TOGETHER ???????????

  • gloria patterson

It has been a long day. Have not done much, a little of this and some of that.

Some crafting, some reading, some computer work

  • heather

I have to do some running around today. I’m still a little chapped about my doctor’s appointment yesterday. I was told that I should only be there for 40 minutes. Well, I got there at 8:40am my appointment time was 9:00am they quickly put me in the “little room” and I sat in there with no water, food or even a magazine until the doctor strolled in at 11:00 AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I had an attitude then he got an attitue so then I explained in great detail WHY I had an attitude after being in there for HOURS!!!! Things turned out just so so in the end not sure if I will go back yet or not. When I get THAT pissed off it’s hard for me to get over it but I will try.

    • gloria patterson

      Heather
It must have been the day for WAITING. My apointment was for 8:45 I got there and checked in & paided at 8:15

At 9:15 I was back at the first desk wanting to know if I had been forgotten. After they checked yea she paid. we will check with them. Lets just say the student that came to get me at almost 9:30 got a little kicking……………… Found out from head/teacher dentist later that reception forgot to push the button on my name. Turns out they forgot on 3 of us.

      SOME DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • heather

Hi Gloria, That is so weird that we went through ‘The Waiting Game From Hell’ on the same day! And just about the exact same time! I’m still not over all the fun! Have a great day.

  • Michele Soyer

Had a lovely walk yesterday and did wind up at home goods where I bought a large burgundy candle and some Easter colored tapers for the table then of course next door to the Dollar Tree! I did go a bit nuts with seeds 4 for $1 and grow pots, dish towels and oven mitts Easter themed , face scrubs ,butgundy votive candles…Could not pass up a clear plastic crystal look tray…walked back home and was very happy with my haul…today getting ready for dinner guests this evening….

  • gloria patterson

The first of January I cracked a front tooth and they could not save it so had to have it pulled. Off to the WVU student dental clinic this morning. My apointment was at 8:45 and be there 15 minutes early. So I was there about 8:20 and signed in and paid. I waited and waited, students came out and never called my name. So back to the front desk to find out if I had been forgotten. They checked and we will let them know.

So I got a student at 9:25 and I let him know my apointment was 8:45. I found out later from the head dentist the desk forgot to press the button by my name so they didn’t know I was there. They also didn’t do it for 2 others.

The dental school is cheaper then a regular dentist (they say) I paid almost $400 for full mouth xrays and dental assement.

Came home and took a long nap

  • Rose

I haven’t been flying in ages, and I get sooo nervous. I’d say have a tranquilizer, if doctors still give them as prescriptions for something like that. Or have a good movie lined up, or sit next to a really cute guy!!! And wear you new fragrance to captivate him.

  • Rose

I went to the mall today, the first time in years. It was a goof-off day, so my mission was to sniff fragrances. Every store that had fragrance I tried them out. I had seen many of them online, and trying them in the store they can be different than how you imagined them. I didn’t get anything, but have ideas. After you have sniffed too many, I could only tell for sure if I didn’t like one, but many I do like enough to need to go back!! What is a fresh, sweet fragrance that doesn’t have those drydowns of musk or patchouli…. that I’m sniffing around for, esp I was thinking something with rose and/or violet.

  • l p

the day is going well. lots of activity next door with the construction as the weather is lovely. heading out with my list for some groceries. enjoy your day and weekend. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

Rain, rain, rain. That’s bbeen the last three days. And storms. Well, that’s the price we pay for warmer weather, I guess.

  • heather

I have a doctor’s appointment this morning. I am meeting a new Primary Care Physician because my last one suddenly quit. I am a little nervous and can’t wait til it’s over.

  • Michele Soyer

Gloria this place truly feels like home – maybe Corfu was just a dream and for vacations only….Today I need a walk! it is 28 outside so boots etc…Believe it or not i will probably make a stop att he Dollar Tree again! they have the prettiest Easter kitchen towels that are of a pretty good quality…

  • Tamra Phelps

The situation here last night was similar to Gloria’s. Tornado warnings and storms all night. I live in an apartment, there is no basement and I’m not getting up to wheel into the bathroom, so I just leave it to fate, I guess.

    • gloria patterson

Tamra I do like you. That just sounded like me. I am right beside a window so I just covered my head. 15 minutes or so I just got up and started my day…………… L O L

  • l p

the day is going well. woke up to sunshine so that helps things warm up sooner. got to my appointment only to find it had to be cancelled as the practicioner woke up ill. don’t have a cell phone so they couldn’t notify me while I was on my way. got some extra steps in and lots of fresh air so that’s always a win. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

My day started at 4:45 am when the phone alert went off……………… tornado warnings
AND NO I didn’t go back to sleep. BUT there is nothing I can do. I live in a 10 story building.

Off to have my car service I had a light coming on ever time I go round a curve. I was in the waiting room with 2 ladies and husband in the corner. One woman TOLD everthing that went back years. The other lady and her husband were there because the dealership told them they did a repair…. BUT.

I got off lucky I thought it was going to be one tire or maybe 2 needing replaced.
But it was bad sensor $112. later

Stopped at dollar tree picked up a few things……….. then to Little Caesars for a lunch combo.

  • Michele Soyer

All deliveries came already and everything is put away….Another very nice thing occured.. one of the ladies that I met the other night happens to be a singer.. she invited us to come to her next gig – it will be before Easter…I believe it is a club of some sort – she does jazz and country strange mix huh..LOL
Right now since my daughter installed the sound bar and I am doing nothing but sitting and listening to all my Peabo Bryson cd’s…remembering when we saw him both in NYC and Trinidad too! wen I sam done with him I will move on to Regina Belle a REALLY lazy day…Lunch will be quick lentils with spinach and brown and wild rice…and yes Gloria a single malt..LOL

  • Tamra Phelps

We are expecting bad weather over the next few days–storms, tornado watches. In other words, Spring in KY. Other than that, it’s been business as usual around here.

  • l p

the day is going well. got a phone call to offer an appointment d/t a cancellation. I took it, even though it’s last minute and I had to shuffle the schedule as I’ve been waiting for one for quite some time and was booked for the end of June. fingers crossed the weather will cooperate. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Sun is shinning but it is calling for lots of rain. Spring is here flowering trees in bloom, daffys up everwhere. They will be starting to cut grass soon.

Doing nothing today……. had not been out of my apartment so far.

Working on a couple of craft things. It is so nice to be able just leave everthing out, and just work on it when I want to.

Some computer stuff, reading (always got a book going) I like paper books. I can read on my ipad but just don’t really enjoy it as much………….. STRANGE

And I just might take a nap later………………..

2n TRAVEL TIP —- TAKE OLD CLOTHES

15+ YRS AGO my sister got to go on a paid for trip to mult countries. She knew that she would be buying lots of stuff on the trip…

She packed a large suitcase full of OLD clothes. At the end of each day she would throw most of what she had wore in the trash.

She ended her trip with a full suitcase of stuff she bought on that trip. And almost all of her clothes were still in some other country.

  • Michele Soyer

It snowed all day yesterday and it is so pretty outside…a neighbor invited us over for a drink last night and we met many other people at the get together….our circle is widening and that makes me smile…getting ready to make my grocery and wine orders to be delivered tomorrow – Saturday evening having a small dinner party…

  • Michele Soyer

My best travel tip….no matter what the airlines says leave early! one never knows what chaos can happen at the airport at any time…also check in as early as the airline allows on your phone …

  • heather

I woke to learn that Val Kilmer passed away last night. I loved him! He was so brilliant as Doc Holiday in the movie Tombstone. Oh and of course as Iceman! Really bummed me out this morning. Have a good day.

  • Elizabeth

I like reserving books at the library before I arrive (if I’m going somewhere where I hold a card) so I don’t have to take reading material with me!

  • Natalie

My best travel tip is to use the Google Translate app on your phone if visiting a foreign country. It can translate voice or text!

  • l p

re travel tips – my Mother loved to take pictures with her camera while on trips. whenever she took a picture, she would dictate a note about where she was and why the picture was taken. when she got home, she made wonderful scrapbooks of the trips. now I love to look at them and hear her voice. thanks

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s a warm, sunny day so there’s lots of activity around. made muffins for neighbours and will join them for tea soon. Connie – I’m so sorry to hear the surgery hasn’t been all that helpful. fingers crossed that some magic appears for you soon. enjoy the day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

    “Your best travel tip?”

LESS IS MORE!! Use the smallest suitcase you can. Have compression bags for all stuff in suitcase. YOU don’t need 5 tops you can hand wash and dry overnight. 2 pairs of shoes, hat, some type of jacket, shoulder purse.

I have been looking at the compress back packs that would hold a lot. Of course you know about having spare chargers cause you are going to be taking pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!

It might be nice to also have “Drawstring backpack” ( amazon) could be in your purse or pocket and you buy stuff pull the backpack out and put the stuff in easy to carry.

On plane I am one of those people that go to sleep even thou I have a book. But you might be to busy talking to sleep or anything else.

  • Tamra Phelps

Travel tip, huh? For me it would be don’t leave anything to chance, lol. I’m a control freak. I plan things out and try to take in to consideration anything that could go wrong. Does it help, nah, probably not. I would say make a list of what you need and gather everything before the day you leave, lol. That way you don’t wind up in NY and without clean underwear or a toothbrush.

  • gloria patterson

WOW I though something was wrong with the form. I am the SECOND person to comment!!

Have not done much today. Had a hungry for tuna melt so made tuna fish and had a couple of slices of sour dough bread left………………… SO SO GOOD!

Some computer does and finished up a new book. The problem with a new book (JD Robb) is I read it to fast. Couple of weeks and I will go back and read it again.

Now I have to decide what is next in my read. I am a mixed reader of everything.

  • Tamra Phelps

Dang, I’m sorry your surgery didn’t really help the pain. I have pain in my hands caused by the med I take for the DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ)–so I tolerate it but sometimes it gets bad. I know how it just ruins your day, how you feel like you can’t do the simplest things anymore. It stinks.

  • Heather

My best travel tip is to take things that will keep you occupied like books, magazines, portable dvd player and headphones.

  • heather

Happy April Fools Day! Be careful out there today. I am doing stuff around the house today I did my running around yesterday. I may make a trip to the library a little later.
