Christmas Gift Ideas For Your Mother-in-Law and a Plea For HELP!!!
I know some gals are lucky to have an amazing Mother-in-Law. (I was NOT lucky… a whole other whine there. Suffice to say, I was despised by my in-laws. I KNOW!! I’m a SHOCKED as you are!!) HOWEVER, some gals LOVE their Mother-in-Law. For instance, I’m a JOY as a Mother-in-Law. Honest!! ANYWAY, I thought I would share a few Christmas Gift Ideas.
As Christmas approaches, it’s important to show appreciation for your (NICE, loving) MIL with thoughtful gifts that will make her feel loved and valued. On the other hand, if she is …. hummmm, okay Connie, how to tactfully say what you REALLY want to say like the G version “witch from hell?”
The Evil and Wicked MIL
My first piece of advice if she is NOT the MIL of your dreams is to buy YOURSELF a gift. A nice gift. Something that will make you happy. You can buy her a McDonalds gift card. They have them starting at $5.00, just sayin’.
The Kind and Generous MIL
Now if she is a Hallmark movie, Angel from Heaven here are some ideas.
Of course, if you are in Sandpoint, Idaho there is that upcoming craft fair at PSNI (Panhandle Special Needs Inc). I mean, HELLO I have a ton of things that will be there along with some other unique, festive items. Yes, that was a shameless plug. However I have more ideas.
More Christmas Gift Ideas
- Personalized gifts are always a hit, and your mother-in-law will love receiving a gift that was specially made just for her. Consider getting her a custom piece of jewelry with her name or initials engraved on it, or a personalized photo album filled with pictures of her loved ones.
You could also create a custom gift basket with her favorite things, such as gourmet chocolates, scented candles, and a cozy blanket. Personalizing a gift shows that you put thought and effort into choosing something she will truly appreciate. - A luxurious spa gift set with relaxing bath salts, scented candles, and a plush robe for her to unwind and pamper herself.
- A cooking class experience or cookbook featuring her favorite cuisine, so she can enjoy trying new recipes and expanding her culinary skills.
Thoughtful Plaques and Sayings
One great gift idea for your mother-in-law is a personalized plaque with a meaningful saying or quote. This thoughtful gift will show her how much you appreciate her and how much she means to you. You can choose a plaque with a sweet message about family, love, or friendship, or you can customize it with a saying that is special to your relationship with your mother-in-law.
Another idea is to give her a plaque with a funny or lighthearted saying that will make her smile every time she sees it. Whether she prefers a sentimental message or a humorous one, a personalized plaque is a timeless gift that she is sure to cherish.
Here is where The Little Peanuts Come In
I’m stuck coming up with plaque ideas. The plaques that I am making are slate. They are 5″ by 5″. I don’t think I should make all Christmas designs. Is there a design or a saying that would compel you to purchase it? Maybe not just for your MIL, but BFF, SIL, YOUR mantel? I NEED IDEAS!! Please !!
Even if you have a funny saying to share. OR loving, and mushy I need IDEA’s!!!
Thank you Little Peanuts.

No mother-in-law here, lol. But plaque ideas??? Hmm, Here’s a good one that’s meant to be inspiring, if you want those: Enid Starkie, an Irish writer, said “Unhurt people are not much good in this world.” For some reason I’ve always liked that saying. It reminds me that damaged people are the ones who know stuff. I recently saw an argument about whether people actually like help in the kitchen during the holidays, the general concensus was ‘hell, no.” One lady said: ‘You wanna help me? Get outta my kitchen!” Lol, that might make a good plaque for some mothers-in-law.

I had a MONSTER IN LAW type in my life for years. I think SHE wanted to date her son! I love the plaques that you have made they are a crack up. I will so put on my thinking cap. At the moment I can think of that one that reads something like this “This house protected by Smith and Wesson two days a week you guess the days!” I will keep thinking.

NO mother in law for me never could find anybody I wanted to live with full time. Tried a few times but it was not for me.
Now my sister in law has been married to my brother fo 45 years (don’t know why) and mom thinks of her as a daughter. She has learned over the years the best gift for her MIL is food or drink.
