Day 27 Photo-A-Day Up Close
So, I am sitting at my desk, looking over the Photo-A-Day Prompts trying to decide which one I want to use when I heard a noise that almost sounded like a shutter click from a camera. Saaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy what?!?!?! Then I remembered I live in Idaho which means a stupid BIG ASS BUG just landed somewhere close. I moved papers, books and was just about to close the lid on my laptop when I found the culprit!
Stink BUG. BIG ASS BUGS! I hate stink bugs. They fly. They crawl. AND THE SMELL??? The closest description of the scent that I can come up with is stick your nose inside a bottle of Pine-Sol. That first chemical, strong scent is a stink bug. AHHHHHHACKKKK!
LIGHT BULB!!!! Here is my UPCLOSE photo!! I only wish the computer had smell-a-vision!!! Yes, I do love to share my pain!
They release the scent when disturbed. Crush ’em? You’ll have that scent much longer. Yup, learned that one the hard way. Throw ’em outside for the turkeys to eat is a way better solution. But do it FAST!!! Bear seems to think they are a delicacy! (Instert gagging motion here!!) It’s easy to catch stink bugs. The are slow as molasses. We are talking snail slow.
In the fall they are thick up here! They cover the side of the house. So gross! We did learn just recently from my friend Nora that BATS eat them!! (Bats also eat wasps!!) We’ve noticed that we have a pair of bats that hang out in the trees and we want to keep them happy!! So, when I am able to get OFF the mountain again we are buying a BAT HOUSE!!
Yes, I am such a city girl. I didn’t know they made bat houses!!
Since Google likes an internal link for SEO……… here is another Photo-A-Day prompt for you to checkout.

We have a couple of bat houses at the botanic gardens. Bats also eat mosquitoes.

That is one ugly bug! What do they eat? BTW, are you going to have a housewarming party for the bat house? Are we invited? If not, then photies please 😉
