Groggle’s Monster Valentine By Diana Murray
Once again Alice doesn’t quite grasp the whole “don’t spoil the ending” prompt. Course this time she starts right out with the ending so be prepared this review does have spoilers!
Wait till you see this adorable children’s book celebrating Valentine’s Day!! Groggle’s Monster Valentine. From the laugh out loud words to the absolutely beautiful, colorful, and funny illustrations!
Groggle’s Monster Valentine was written by Diana Murray and illustrated by Bats Langley.
One of the things that I love the most about this book is the fact that it’s written so that five-year-old Alice can read it TO ME!! With Alice just learning to read I am always on the lookout for books that have a lot of site words and challenging to read.
The pictures in this book are so funny! The story is sweet. Groggle wants to make a special Valentine for his friend Snarlina. Snarlina is Groggle’s very beast friend in the whole wide world!!
(Remember…. spoilers ahead!!)
Groggle tries again, this time writing poem after poem to make sure he has some extras just in case. He picks skunk flowers, carefully ties on snake bows, and sprinkles shiny beetle glitter. He decorates each card with care. But . . . gobble, crunch, crunch, slurp! Groggle’s monster impulses foil his efforts and he’s run out of time.
Will Groggle ever be able to give his toothsome, stomping, monstrous friend Snarlina a Valentine? Find out in this monster of a tale.
Groggle’s Monster Valentine is perfect for ages 3 to 6. This book would be a PERFECT gift for your little monster Valentine!!

Have to watch out for monsters who don’t know the difference between site and sight words.
