How to Freshen Up Your Home (Without Spending a Fortune)
If you feel like your home is looking a bit old and tired, then you may want to give it a new lease of life by freshening it up. However, many people wrongly assume that home improvements cost a lot of time and money, and unless you have a fortune to spend, then you are stuck with your old, tired house.
This is far from the truth, and there are many cheap and affordable ways that you can transform your living space and give it a brand-new look, without it costing your bank account. Here are some of our top budget friendly home improvement ideas.
Declutter and Organize
All of us are guilty of not being as tidy or as organized as we could be, and this can contribute considerably to how tired our home looks. By having a big clean up, declutter, and organizing parts of your home, you can transform both the look and feel of your living space. A cluttered home may feel chaotic to live in, but once you clear the cobwebs of your house, you can clear them from your mind as well. If you do decide to completely gut your home, it may be worth looking into hiring a dumpster. You will want to find a dumpster rental company with a customer-first attitude to help remove and dispose of any trash safely and reliably. Once you have decluttered your home you may feel that it opens up your room, making you feel less suffocated and more relaxed.
Add a Lick of Paint
If you are considering some home improvement projects to try and freshen up your home and make it a more attractive and enjoyable place to live, then you should remember that some projects are more affordable than others. Home décor is largely regarded as expensive, but a simple change to your home like adding a coat of paint to a wall is both affordable and easily implemented.
If your budget does not stretch to enough paint to cover the entire room, then consider a feature wall that will freshen up the room’s appearance, while also drawing attention away from other areas of the room that are less desirable.
Upgrade Your Furniture
Adding some new furniture to your home is a great way to transform your living space without too much effort or money. While some furniture options can be expensive, there are also more affordable options available. For example, if you have a couch that you find comfortable and is in good condition, but you still fancy a change, you could add a throw or cover to make it brand-new again.
A great way to freshen up your home, while also ensuring that you have a good night’s sleep, is to upgrade your bedroom furniture by getting a new mattress. Make sure to review the different dimensions though in order to find a good mattress that will transform your bedroom into the optimal sleep haven.
Change Your Layout
If you fancy a change in your home, then swapping your furniture around can be both effective and is completely free. Changing which wall your bed is on in your bedroom will make your home feel brand new again.
Improve Your Lighting
You will be surprised at how effective the right lighting can transform your living space and freshen up your home. It can sometimes feel overwhelming when trying to create the right lighting, but generally we recommend that you encourage lots of daylight in your home during the day, and then soft lighting in the evening. This will help improve the overall feel and appearance of your home and can also boost your mood.
To create the perfect lighting in the evening, swap big lights for smaller ones for a better ambience and relaxing environment.
We hope that these tips and suggestions will help you freshen up your home without breaking the bank!

I have sacks of clothes, ornaments & pieces of small furniture to donate but they’ll have to wait till the restrictions are lifted.

I’ve been absolutely amazed at what a little bit of fresh paint can accomplish. And it’s so cheap too!

NO kidding. I am so thinking my craft room may be a different color soon.

I’m still on the first tip, declutter and organize. I did a lot of donating, etc, last year, and this year I was supposed to organize. I had it all planned out to go to Walmart and Home Depot for organizers, etc. But since Covid-19 hit, our ride service won’t allow us to go there, and they have no expectation of when, except far from now. Some things are hard to get over the internet, esp. as I won’t be able to return them, so I’m kind of in limbo about the amount of organizing I want to do. I don’t want to move into the other aspects until I feel this is done, esp. if it involves sewing something. Once that sewing machine comes out, nothing else gets done!

I found just getting a new bed spread made the whole room look different. Thanks for the great hints too.

I agree 100%. I’m so ready to put my summer turquoise bed spreed on but the weather at night is just a tad too chilly still.

It’s funny how just adding a new rug or changing the wall color can make a room look completely different. I tend to do those two things.

No kidding! I would love a big ole area rug in the living room but The Husband is worried it would be a trip hazard to him. (ummmmm someone should tell him to stop shuffling and it wouldn’t be!!) YES, quarantine is starting to make me snippy
