A neighbor recently went hatchet crazy to a tree that graces the space between our apartments so he could see the ocean. The result of his feverish cutting and thwacking is a disfigured and uninhabitable tree that use to be full of joyful song birds. Without the presence of birds the bug population this spring has quadrupled and so has my rage. Mother guilt is the worse and seeing my baby’s tender skin dimpled with mosquito bites breaks my heart. Nearby neighbors have annoying bug zapper lights that you can hear from across the street and that’s a little too intense for my tastes. I don’t care if the critters…
