The Runaway Santa A Christmas Adventure Story
Sorry folks, I know that it’s not even Thanksgiving yet but I am in full Christmas mode over here!! I can’t help it!! The Grandkids are at the BEST age now! From 7 down to 4-years-old. THIS is going to be a FUN year!! I want the maximum amount of build up time for this Christmas so I’ve already started!! Beginning with Christmas books like this one! The Runaway Santa: A Christmas Adventure Story
Everyone needs a vacation! Yes, even Santa! A stressed and over worked Santa tells Mrs. Claus he wants to run away. Mrs Claus, being the wonderful wife wants Santa to be prepared, so after hearing the places Santa plans to visit she packs Santa what is needed for each stop; because “You must take care, for you are my jolly Santa” This adorable line is repeated through out the book. Such a sweet line!
Once there was a jolly Santa who wanted to leave the North Pole on a worldwide vacation! He decides he wants to visit Mount Rushmore and see the stone faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Then he’ll ski the silky slopes of the Swiss Alps. And after that, he’ll ride an elephant in South Africa on a safari. Santa is eager for a new adventure, but Mrs. Claus isn’t so sure he’s ready just yet. Before he takes off, she’s going to make sure he’s got his rock climbing gear. And his skis, and his hat. He must be ready!
It isn’t long before Santa realizes that maybe his adventure would be more fun with a friend. Mrs. Claus is clearly an expert adventurer herself, and so the two take off together on a runaway adventure. They have a little time before Christmas, after all, and everybody needs a break sometimes!
The Runaway Santa: A Christmas Adventure Story is a super cute Christmas story written by Anne Margaret Lewis and illustrated by Aaron Zenz. This is first, a cute Christmas book, but also a great way to talk about geography with your kids!! This book is a wonderful reason to get out a map or globe and find where Mt. Rushmore is, and The Great Wall of China all the way to the Amazon Rainforest.

When we were little we had (and still have) a huge Readers Digest atlas & always looked on it to see the places mentioned in our books. Now, 40 plus years later, I still use it. How much the world has changed since then!

This sounds like the cutest story. Sadly, there are no more “babies” in our famiiy…the oldest turned 11.

I grew up with a world globe and always loved finding places I read about.

This would be a great book to read with the kids, hot chocolate, and the tree lights on. A different kind of story with Santa, sounds fun.

It does sound like a cute book. Young kids would love learning about new, different places, too.

This is a cute story and a sneaky way to incorporate a little history and keep it fun!
