The Food Safe Families Campaign (a partnership on behalf of the Ad Council, USDA, FDA and CDC) is helping parents protect their families from foodborne illness. Food Poisoning Food poisoning is not simply an upset stomach; it is a serious public health threat in America. In fact, the CDC estimates that about 1 in 6 Americans (about 48 million people) could suffer from foodborne illness this year. I had no idea that food poisoning result in approximately 128,000 hospitalizations and sadly, an estimated 3,000 deaths every year! WHAT?!?!!  I really had no idea.
