3 Childhood Items You’ll Want to Preserve
Your childhood may seem like it was a lifetime ago, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fondly look back at it and relive the memories on occasion.
As a child, you don’t realize the significance of certain items in your life. Because of this, you will end up throwing out or donating items that you’ll one day wish to have kept.
Instead of going through the feeling of regret, it’s important to know which items you should hold onto for sentimental value. Maybe you’ll enjoy reliving your childhood through these items, or maybe you want to pass them down to your children or your children’s children. Either way, the following are three childhood items you’ll want to preserve.
1. Yearbooks
Even if high school wasn’t your fondest of years (and be honest, who’s were?), it’s still a good idea to save your yearbooks so that you can look back at the person you used to be and the life you used to live. Take some time to go through the yearbook and look at the pictures of people you used to be friends with and those you still are. You can also read through the messages you received to get a true blast from the past.
In order to preserve your yearbook, you should consider getting a Memorybook Yearbook Cover, which will protect it from getting scratched or damaged. You can also scan the yearbook and make a digital copy. This way, if something were to happen to your yearbook, you have a backup.
2. Pictures
If you have a barrage of pictures from your childhood, be sure that you preserve these. Even if you don’t look at them on a regular basis, it’s still good to preserve these memories any way you can.
You can keep these images in a scrapbook to make the look-through more enjoyable and fun. You can also opt to place them in a typically photo album in order to preserve the quality.
For added protection, you should also scan the images and save a digital copy. Again, this will be your backup in case something does happen to the originals. To be extra safe, save these digital copies to a third-party site, such as Shutterfly. This way, if something were to also happen to your computer, your pictures won’t be lost forever.
3. Sentimental Items
It’s always a good idea to save items that you consider sentimental, even if you don’t use them. For example, you may want to save your graduation cap tassel just to relive the experience of graduating from high school or college. You can either keep this somewhere safe, or do something creative with it, such as turn it into a Christmas ornament.
You should also save other sentimental objects, such as pieces of jewelry or even toys that mean (or meant) something special to you. For example, you could save the childhood toy that you couldn’t live without, and you can give this toy to your child to play with and enjoy as well.
Think about the items that have some type of sentimental value and then keep them somewhere safe. These items may not define who you are today, but they certainly played a role in your journey to get there.

One way to preserve sentimental items that are getting to be too many is to take a good picture of it and put it in a scrapbook with notes on what/where/when it was important.

Definitely with you on these! I tend to be a sentimental packrat though, so this may be difficult! 😡
