Honestly, I am over this crazy weather we are having. One day it’s in the 70s, next day it’s back down to 30. If it warms up, we get storms. Well, the storms are expected. It’s Spring in KY. Nervewracking. Tornado watches with every storm.

I stayed a while and played with him while she made phone calls. Total of 10 calls mother, father, grandmother
He woke up from a nap and they were in the bed playing and her phone was laying on a chair.

Snowed all day yesterday.. it looks like a winter wonderland outside in practically April! Getting dressed warmly and out to Dollar Tree today about a 1 1/2 mile walk in the snow….I will probably uber home with my bags!

Since you are a good walker, have you thought about getting a folding cart? They have all size of them. I have one that I take to carry my stuff in the building. And when not in use I hang it on hook on closet door.

Last night around 10 or so I decided to view the new 911 shows on comcast. So I started watching and watching…………………… they had a 3 part show and I had to keep watching! It was 1:30 when I quite watching. BUT I was wide awake a 6am…………. have not really done anything so far and it 11:00 am

Very glad I took a walk about yesterday…last night the thunder, lightning and rain came…It made sense the high for the day was 70 degrees….today is gray, colder ( much colder) and rain is predicted…My plan is to change the linens in both bedrooms and bathrooms and do the laundry….lastly a quick vacuum and swifer….lunch, my book and just maybe some old school rock and roll!!!

Quick trip to krogers didn’t need much. I had a FREE coupon for a car wash BUT forgot about till I got home. Will do next week. Put everything away and decided I needed/wanted a nap…………. 1 hour later. On the computer doing this and that and knock at the door…………. vistors Zeola and her almost 6 month old little boy. He is a little doll and he smiles at me and my heart melts.

Well, the xray showed possible signs of osteomyelitis (infection in the bone) in my left big toe. So, she wants an MRI to check. Ugh. I hate MRIs. They are difficult for a person in a wheelchair. Obviously you can’t take a metal wheelchair anywhere near the MRI scanner. They have ‘wheelchairs’ made of weird tubing like PVC plumbing type stuff–but they are very tall and I can’t crawl up into a chair, lol. I asked the nurse to see if there is a different scan that might work before I put myself through an MRI. We’ll see.

Sounds like it is one thing after another for you.
So they want the MRI to see if it infected, you would think they would have something a lot smaller around to see (maybe) into the bone.
Hopefully this is the last problem. What have you done about your mattress??

Lovely warm morning so after breakfast taking a walk to our local park… about a 2 miles all the activities during the late spring, summer and early fall take place here…including Friday night movies during the summer months…along the way is our local concert/ play center – apparenly in late May the Minnesota Ballet is having Beauty and the Beast – want to chceck out tickets….

We have something like that in summer to. The amphitheater is located next to the river. They have/bands singers at least once a month, and the stands are full, grass for blankets and a lot of boats park and watch the show. They also have movie nights and other things. Food trucks show up. It is very popular.

Kind of a gray overcast day here, but occasionally the sky goes all blue with fluffy cuds. Weird. –Gloria, I’m fine. The sores on my thighs have almost healed. My foot, really my left big toe, lol–is the same thing from before Christmas. I tried to get rid of a callus by using one of those medicated band-aids that say they get rid of calluses. Turns out people in wheelchairs who don’t walk a lot lose the ‘foot pad’ (layer of fat between skin and bone) and those medicated bandages eat right through to bone!! It did. And I had it almost healed before I got sick and had to go to the nursing home–but they were very hit or miss about taking care of it and now it’s infected again. Not too bad, though. I think. I have to just sort of start over caring for it myself, I guess. I’m waiting to hear what the culture they did tells us.

Have not done much so far today but I did learn something very helpful.
I buy sausage rolls break down in patties, cookie sheet and into the oven. Well today I used parchment paper on the cookie sheet. And OMG not sticking BUT the paper absorbed all the grease!! After cooled in to a ziplock for when I want some sausage for breakfast or what ever.
Now I am on the laptop entering contest and do emails………………
NOTHING ELSE TO DO………………….. NO TO DO LIST lol lol

Here it is half 10am and grocery delivery came and was put away, soup is on ( beef barley) and plants transplanted into their patio pots and outside…going to take some email/contest time…. then making stuffed cabbage for lunch!

Gloria by 11pm I fall into bed and honestly sleep very well…I have never taken naps in my life…my mom always told me that even as a child I failed ” nap time” lol….

LOL LOL Naps are good things even if is just a 10 minute recharge nap. If I decide to take a nap I set my phone I might take 10 minutes or a hour or whatever. I am also a great sleeper close my eyes and I am gone…………… unless nature calls. And when the clock is 5 minutes before or after 6 am my eyes pop open…………… ever morning.

Went to the doctor expecting a regular follow up visit, but she wanted blood work and an xray on my left foot. OK. Xray went quick, but blood work took hours because the lady in front of me had a mini nervous breakdown at the thought of having blood drawn! She nearly passed out and took over an hour to recover–taking up the bigger space used for wheelchairs. Geeze.

Had to pick up prescriptions………. BUT decided to stop by this one discount store. Great niece Zay is crazy in love with Stitch………….. I found this nice 16 x 20 size wall canvas with stitch on it and real nice saying. Then I saw a stitch painting kit, then stitch dawer liner………………. all plus a big plastic bag $12.75
Then off to kroger to pick up prescriptions. It was 32 when I left thi morning now 3 pm it is 47
Spring is here …………….. road work ever where. Through this one town and they had 8 guys out shoveling dirt away from the center road dividers. And the main road to my apartment they were filling in the big holes.
Just now finished the 3rd salad w/greens out of my aero garden. Its nice to have salad that is not going to turn brown before I eat it.

Siting at my desk and turned to look out the window……………… WHY IS MY WINDOW OPEN!!!!
For the first time in almost 12 yrs my windows are CLEAN – INSIDE & OUT!!! Shocks me evertime I look out.
I live in a HUD build and when we do the paperwork for renewal they inspection our apartments for any problems things to repair etc. The guy that came in clauk around sinks, seals on freezer etc etc had a long list. The list was from 2024 & 2025 inspection. And include cleaning my windows inside & out. He had to work at getting them out and then back in. YES I do clean inside but not the outside.
NO — TO DO LIST……………… all completed
So I took a 3 hr nap.

Had a meeting with a financial planner then we went to the post office to have our picture taken for our passports. His turned out nice mine looks terrible. Plus I was very surprised how much the whole process cost.

Finished at walmart, got in the car and headed to krogers. Just as I got to Dollar Tree I remember something I kinda needed……………. so I pull in ……………. get what I needed and out 10 minutes or so.
GET IN THE CAR, DROVE HOME, PARK ……………….dam I forgot gas
So I back out and off to krogers, get that gas and home………………………………………………..

Well, it seems Winter has returned here for a while. It’s flipping cold again. Gloria, I have thought of trying plywood to firm up the mattress–but the new base is made of metal, so I would think that would do the same thing?? Maybe not, though. I’ll have to check in to that.

WELL my day started eaarly…………….. woke up at 3 and could not go back to sleep. Got up cleaned up, gathered laundry and down to the laundry room. Back upstairs everything put away. Got pork chops out and fixed them to bake. Did a little cleaning, made breakfast……………………. AND I crashed. Sleep for 4 hours
It is 51 now and says weather will be in the 50’s all next week.

Well, I have to admit my new mattress is a failure, lol. It’s too soft. It was on sale, so my brother got it instead of the one I expected, which I understand, but now my back aches every day, all day. Ugh. Money wasted. The time I spent in the nursing home means it’s too late to return it.

It’s been almost 4 weeks since I broke my foot. It’s been healing very well and I thought I would try to get back on the elliptical. I wore the special shoe, my foot did not bother me.

This morning at 7:15 I checked the temp 28 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got my winter coat out, zipped and out the door. That wind was so cold. OFF to the Dr. for steroid shot on my left knee. The right leg says let go do and the left says NO I am not like you!!!
Quick stop at krogers got to get those 4 x points………………. didn’t get much.
Something to eat and started working on my “TO DO” list again…….. just about got it all done.

Yesterday was a wait for deliveries day and all went well as usual…I never thought i would like deliveries this much – always loved walking up and down all the aisles in the grocery..lol…anyway today I will do a quick clean and polish and re-pot some of the plants I bought…I am going to buy some kind of plant stand when I get the patio furniture…

I was so going to get stuff done today, lol. Instead I sat here and kept nodding off until the home health nurse came by. She says my wounds on the back of my thighs (which I can’t see, lol) are much better. I know they hurt much less. She bandaged them to be sure they don’t flare up again before my new wheelchair cushion gets here. (ordered from Amazon a month ago, still ‘delayed.’)

Happy first day of Spring!!!!!!!! This is my favorite time of the whole year everything is so pretty here. The fields are all green, the flowers are opening, the trees are blossoming and the baby animals are showing up in the fields.

They are working on our roads ever where. There are 3 different way for me to get back to my building. And they were working on all 3 of the roads. And one road they have cleaned the holes and ready for filling…….THESE HOLES ARE DEEP
When I got home made a sandwich, took a lONG nap. Just as I started to do something knock at the door. It Zeola (great nieces grandmother) and she had the baby (her great nephew) and they came to see me. That boy is almost 6 months old and SO heavy, wearing 12 month clothes, got one tooth coming thru, has learned to roll over and he just has the best little smile.

Have done a little of this and some of that. Was trying to print something on my print WOULD NOT PRINT. So I took everything off the printer, everything look good. Still would not print. So called up the printer and press test page and IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! Then it printed what I wanted………….
No plans today BUT I am thinking about that nap. Sun is coming in my window and in a bit it will be on the recliner. Nothing like going to sleep in the sun shine…………………

Back to work today! I will finish the tiles then clorox the patios – I also have 2 VERY large ceramic planters – lovely painted ones that I want to move from the patio after I wash them to the iving room…they will look very nice under the front windows…I used to have ficus trees in them but those days are done! I can’t be bothered filling them with sterile soil and the upkeep of those trees….I will find some silk arrangments or maybe just leave them as is…
I did buy some plants yesterday so I have to organize planters for them… so much brisket is leftover so no cooking today.. corned beef sandwiches with cole slaw and a nice single malt and my book….

Was up and moving around at 6, out the door by 8 Got a call sunday from walmart to let me know about the 2nd covid shot to take. I knew about doing that but was planning on waiting till first of April. So got in line did and the guy said by the way you look like it time for a tetanus booster. Me OK! Did the paperwork and I got both shots in the same arm. That was best shot person I ever had. I only knew I got the shot when you threw the needle away……….. DID not feel either one.
Got home put everthing away and a nap was calling me………………….

I pulled out my 7qt crockpot to cook the Cornbeef but found out that it will be to small. Luckly my sister in-lay had a 20qt cooker that I could borrow. I’ts a bit to large but at least I can get all of the vegetables in with the meat.

Started picking up the carpet tiles from the patio yesterday – easier than I thought..stopped to make naan and a Moroccan chicken dish and by the time lunch was over thte weather had turned so packed up the tiles for garbage and that was that….apparently the storm is south of us – we won’t get it til later this morning but the air is heavy and it is 50 degrees…after breakfast more tiles….Happy weekend all!

That knee problem never gets better…………….. got a knee replacement and at Christmas climbed my brothers steps with no pain. It was the first time in years that I didn’t want to cry.

Things are getting a little better with my pressure sores (from being in the hospital, etc.)–they are healing. Gloria–this place is reasonably wheelchair friendly. My apartment isn’t specificlly designed for them (some here are, but like you said, they go quick)–It’s an open florr plan in the living area/kitchen. I wish the countertops were a little shorter, but they are manageable. The bathroom isn’t too small, but the sink doesn’t really allow me to get under it, so I brush my teeth/wash my face at the kitchen sink, lol.

MY building was built in the early 1980’s. and I have to say they didn’t do to bad. Everything was pre wired for phone and cable. BUT back then did not need as many plug in and we have today. The handicap apartments, the counter is lower and open under the sink. Not sure about the bathroom have never been in one of those.
Kitchen/livingroom, bedroom and bath. Have 2 nice size closets in the hallway. NO washer /dry but do have a large laundry room in the building.

Pain is a little better today. (The first week I was in the nursing home, they had me in my wheelchair without the cushion, which caused pressure sores on the back of my thighs. Very painful. It has taken this long to start healing them.) They are finally starting to heal. A big part of it is the fact that they kept insisting on using a med that I repeatedly told them had caused a bad reaction on me before–but they wouldn’t listen. It makes me so angry when medical people don’t want to listen to a patient. They think they know better. One nurse got loud with me: “I’ve been a nurse for 14 years! I know what I’m doing.” I got loud back at her: “Well, I’ve been me for 60 years, and I know what doesn’t work for me!”

I have decided that my “get up and go” has not lived through the time change. Ever thing I do seems to take so long to get it done. BUT hopefully I will get it back.
Off to walmart needed to pick up somethings for the kids Easter baskets. And the good stuff goes fast.

Head Peanut checking in. Surgery went great. I have a GNARLY scar on the underside of my forearm. Starting at the inside elbow towards my wrist a whopping 6″. I’m gonna have to make up a story about this knife fight I was in.
2 small 1″+ on my thumb and the palm of my hand.
Sooooooooo far, this seems to have been the cure!! My pain is soooooo much lower than before surgery. Hot DIGGITY!!

The first and best that I notice was my hand was not going numb any more. MY Dr told me it would take up to a year for all the pain to go away. Once in a while my hand bothers me a little but not enough to really notice.

I was supposed to be going to a dental cleaning at 10:00 am this morning but I found out yesterday that they never scheduled it. At my last cleaning they said they scheduled it gave me a reminder card and everything. Now they tell me their next opening is in December!!!!!!!!!!! I am way beyond chapped! Didn’t know that I had to micromanage them to make sure they are doing their jobs!!!!!!!!

I have seen no patio furniture that i like so tomorrow if the wetaher holds I plan on going to a few more stores to see what they have…I want to “clorox” the patios and get them ready for warmer weather…

Well I worked on that bookcase last night………… made me so mad had to quite.
This morning I sat down to work on it again……… decided the heck with the instruction sheets. I just started putting together what I thought and it worked. Till the last part and I didn’t quite it right………. BUT it is in a corner and not going to be moved. So now I have 3 bookcases in the bedroom. Got it all aranged and put books in all of them.
Then down stairs niece came in to do haircuts. I always get mine trimed and just sit their and bull shit with ever one.
When she left sat down at my laptop worked about 15 minutes and decided I needed a nap………….. 2 hours later.

I have to admit that home therapy I thought was ……….. so so ………… BUT you know I found out when I started going to outside therapy that it helped me more then I thought. And truthfully at night watching tv I still do a lot of those excerise they taught me. Hang in there

Ran around a bit it was 27 when I left this morning While at kroger got some fresh eggs almost $6.00 or jumbo. Had 6 left in the carton so hardboilred them. Make egg salad with 3 of them and the other 3 in the refrig for snacking.
Then a 2 hour nap…………….

The TV is coming today and for that I am grateful…Watching on the computer is just not for me…. The enterainment center is coming also but the ” mounting man” won’t make it until next week…I will put the TV on the dining room table till then…I am grateful that all the delivery men today open, set up and take away all the packing….
Other then that I have to organize the walk in pantry…since we have been here I ( to be honest) just shove things in there without rhyme or reason and it is a mess..lol…second thing on the list is the very top shelf of the linen closet…had to be vacuumed and now ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas tablecloths, napkins etc…no fear if I run out of room this shelf goes all the way to the ceiling….

It is 17 degrees today so no playing in the snow! LOL…Walmart grocery delivery at 9 then I plan on baking….blueberry muffins, oatmeal honey bread and a lemon something!! fill the freezer with goodies then I have to do the file cabinet in the office – the hanging file folders are there ( brand new) regular file folders are here so I have to get to work on that…

It has been a LONG winter…………….. Time change next week!!! Then we will all have to bitch till we get used to it.
The next week or so are all in the 50’s or higher. Ran out for a bit just wore a sweat jacket and was comfortable.
Zeola (zay’s grandmother) had the baby today. She brought him down and he is getting so big…………. that little smile. Last week he learned how to roll over.

Did very well at Target – had to forego the Dollar Tree it was packed!! when there are that many people I can’t enjoy the “walking up and down” lol.. so postponed that for another day…
It started snowing early evening and by the time I looked out at 9 it was a blanket of white out…This morning it looks like a winter wonderland here but I know the plows are out and traffic is moving..
Today will be an inside day unless I decide to go out and play in the now – it is 28 degrees so not too bad! All the years in the Caribbean have made me a big child when it snows!

Yes Gloria! I bought a black blazer for my daughter, black dress pants for me ( I don’t need them but the sale was so good and they will always be needed, 2 white dress blouses for suits one for each of us….2 cozy blankets for the living room…..I did good!

Today has been sort of quiet. The apartment manager came by to photograph my door (911 firefighters had to sort of break in to get me out of here back in January and the door is damaged so it won’t stay closed unless you lock it and there’s a gap letting in cold air!) She is trying to get it replaced quickly but dealing with the owners is a pain. I have a Housing Authority inspection Monday, so that has probably llit afire under their butts! (Housing Authority knows I’m back, so they decided to come by and inspect—after I called them, lol.)

Today I have NOT done much at all……………….. PAPER WORK. This year (I also do my mothers paperwork) I am doing everthing with attached payment information. So the first of the year everything in in order !!!!!!!!!!!!

HOT DAMN!!! I’m very happy. I requested a referral to the doctor that did my carpal tunnel surgeries. All I can say is WHY didn’t I just START with Dr. DiBenidato in the 1st place?!?!
Surgery scheduled on Friday afternoon! (Gotta love a small town. Surgery same week? Could have done it today but UHHHH HELLO! I have a hair cut at 10:00 PRIORITIES!! LOL)
I have 3 spots that he will go in and release. Elbow (front of) wrist and thumb. Both arms (different days obliviously)

After much thinking yesterday I stayed home and did wash and pressing! so that gives me no choice but to go out today….A snowstorm is coming with high winds this late afternoon / early evening according to the weather service…So after breakfast off to Target then my favorite The Dollar Tree…in Target I have a list but the Dollar Tree is just for fun going up and down the aisles and seeing what new glasses/mugs/dishes i can get for $1.29..lol like I need them!

Well, today I had visits from home health nurses and therapists. Just trying to evaluate how much assistance I still need. They seem pretty okay with everything. The nurses will come a few times a week for a while.

When I had my knee surgery they all came and checked out my apartment. My apartment has safety bars in the shower and by the toilet and there are call cords in the bathroom and bedroom.
Decided I only needed the therapists. They came 3 times a week for 2 weeks.
Take any help you can get. HOPE you are feeling so much better

We live way out in the mountains too. The Post Office is 30 miles round trip. My Amazon package was there and the nice man who works there carried it out to my car for me. The box weighs 40 lbs and have problems carrying a 10 lb bag of potatoes!!! lol

Was in the shower around and the power blinked out…………I cuss a little bit, it comes back on, then blinked out again………… BUT it did come back on again and stay on.
Made hot pepper pie ( cooked hamburger, sauce with peppers, and any spices. Baked a small pie crust, when cooled lined bottom with mozzarella cheese slices, pour beef & cheese in pie crust, more mozzarella on the top. Back in the oven for 10 minutes or so for cheese to melt. Also have a container full for something later in the week.
You never realize how many clocks you have to reset when the power blinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally went to the Med Center to have my foot checked out. The xray showed a spiral break of my metarsal of my pinky toe. I’m wearing a boot now which makes it so much less painful to walk and I have an appointment on Tues with Ortho. I feel relief knowing what is wrong with my foot.

Was up at 6 my reg time, dressed fixed breakfast. The kids Zay 8 & CC 3 stopped by last night and they had to paint so I cleaned that up this morning and few other things. My recliner started yelling at me around 11 so OK I will take a nap set phone for ONE HOUR…………. turned it off and slept for 3 more hours.
