My day was okay. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any Halloween plans so I just watched The Nightmare Before Christmas and sang along. It put me in a better mood because I had a horrible night yesterday.

  • Susan C Smith

I’m doing good. I’m enjoying this cooler weather. I spent the day running errands and taking my dog Baily for a walk to the park.

  • Tamra Phelps

Happy Halloween. The place I live now never gets trick-or-treaters, so I wound up eating the candy, lol. (The place before this had hundreds every year. That is not an exageration! Hundreds. It was a subdivision that attracted every kid in town and from the country, too, because parents could park and take kids aroound the neighborhood.)

  • l p

the day is going well. a change in the weather from the forecast. it was supposed to be cloudy all day but it turned out to be sunny. great day for the wee trick or treaters. Happy Hallowe’en to those who celebrate. enjoy. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Oct 31 ………….. so much to look forward to…. NOVEMBER. TIME CHANGE, COOLER TEMPS

Another day is doing nothing ………….. I did have a nap!!

  • Kate Sarsfield

Oíche Shamhna shona daoibh go léir or Happy Halloween to all of you!

Went to the mechanic to get my brake lights fixed. The part hadn’t arrived so off back home & when I drove in, there, in broad daylight on my driveway, was a fox! Didn’t seem afraid of me at all, so I shouted & clapped my hands to try to make him understand that humans are not to be trusted. Certainly not in farming country.
My new foam floor tiles arrived which gave me the nudge I needed to do more sorting out of the kitchen cum greenhouse/ storage room. Have lit my Samhain candle to keep the evil spirits away, got the cats all in safely and plan on eating some Reece’s Peanut Cups!

  • Rose

It is another super nice day! And cool enough to do just about anything. I’m getting some paperwork done in a bit, and it is one of those things that you feel wonderful when it is done!!

  • heather

Happy Halloween! Hope you have a great day full of lots of spooky treats. I am watching scary movies tonight and eating candy.

  • Michele Soyer

Happy Halloween! Today I plan on watching movies and playing with the dog and doing nothing at all…The cats look bored so they can watch me play with Delilah…. Last night Delilah slept with her head on Missy the cat’s bottom – it was the cutest thing…

  • Kate Sarsfield

Busy day today as is every shift at the animal rescue centre. We’re making plans to get the kitty neutered & vaccinated and then he can move into one of the units. They’ll pay the vets bills! I need my shed back to store wood for the winter.

  • Bea Alexandra

I am on PTO so my day is wonderful! I was able to get rid of a lot of clutter in the basement and donate. Felt good to thin the hoard LOL

  • gloria patterson

I am still on a get rid of stuff. Through my closet WHY do we keep old stuff. Favorite sweatshirt STAINED! Time to go! I am getting rid of old stuff that I should have got rid of a long time ago.

Then a 2 hr nap LOL Then I was hungry made mac & cheese and in the end I baked it. Was so good! Had enough to eat today, tomorrow and put 2 bags in the freezer.

  • l p

the day is going well. getting lots of little things taken care of today as there’s a late appointment. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Rose

It is another lovely day! I’m here making tortillas, a huge stack. A curernt obsession with Masienda masa harina, it was on sale at Whole Foods, and I tried it. Instant fav!

  • heather

I have to haul firewood this morning not too thrilled about but it sure is nice to have the fire going in the evenings. We got snow right above us it is nice to see I am soooooooo over summer and that hot weather.

  • Michele Soyer

Got up at 3am realized I have nothing to do today and went back until 5…sometimes it dawns on me that this is really “The Final Countdown” – have to play that song again this morning… What to do today? Well I have a can of pumpkin so a pie will be baked this morning….2 last minute boxes to be sealed and that is truly that….I also have to call my favorite neighbor and plan on day for her to come by and enjoy a last visit…. she always enjoyed my fancy cocktails….

  • gloria patterson

We are having a heat wave it was 50 this morning when I left for therapy. One more session and I am done! Going to miss it but she is giving me a list of the different excerise to do at home. Right now it is 73 at almost 6 pm.

Stopped and picked up a lunch pizza from little caesars ate half of it and decided I needed a nap!!

So I have done nothing today!

  • Kate Sarsfield

Beat the drums & blow the trumpets!!! I have finally started on the old kitchen. It’s going to be a store room/utility/greenhouse & although I had painted it, it needs touching up after the radiator & ventilation fan were put in. Then the floor: I’ll seal it & lay foam tiles that’ll be warm underfoot (ditto the bathroom), and then put in shelving, worktops etc. I have this awful habit of putting things on the long finger and then feeling bad about it, yet I keep doing it.

  • heather

Just waking up here still dark outside. I get up early so I can have ‘my time’ nice and quiet. I am a big fan of quiet. lol Hope you have a great day. I am making tacos for dinner tonight with refried beans on the side yummy.

  • Michele Soyer

No.. we decided on Minnesota for a few reaons…it is a blue state, the 4th safest state in the US for weather (Fema has never gone there). financially within our means and the they say the people are Minnesota nice!
All my family is in NJ!

  • Michele Soyer

I have nothing at all to do today! Took out chicken broth from the freezer and plan on making some vegetable soup, with a salad and some ciabatta bread lunch is made….other than that my book, music and the fur babies..

  • gloria patterson

Had to go out and return some stuff I bought didn’t fit!!! Made me sad really liked the coat 🙁

Stopped and got a burger for lunch, came home ate it and laid down for a 2 hr nap.

What have I done today??????????????????? NOT much of anything.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I just cannot find the energy to do anything other than feed the cats & tidy their litter boxes. There’s so much to be done, I’ve broken it down into logical, simple steps but the motivation isn’t there. I started taking a supplement in case my B12 is low but no change yet and even a caffeine tablet has little effect. So far my day has been : wake, feed cats & self, sleep; wake, feed cats, sleep; wake, feed cats, tidy up, more sleep. Now awake again, the cats want in and here we go again …

    • gloria patterson

      Kate
There are things that have to be done……………. like taking care of the kids (cats)
……………. taking care of you food, sleep

Everything is else is just stuff that you feel needs to be done. Didn’t you say your time had changed that could be another thing that is dragging you down. When our time changes I am all screwed up for several weeks.

  • heather

I am just getting going here. I might make a run to the local store to pick up a few things and I mean just a few things! A gallon of milk at that store is like $6.75 the prices are stupid. Hope you have a nice Monday. I just finished commenting on your ‘Cool Grandma’ post and I am still wondering why we never had a class trip.

  • Jill Y

It’s a chilly afternoon. I’m noticing more leaves changing colors. I’ve decided to teach the dogs to sit up and the older one to shake. LOL. They are so spoiled with all the doggy treats I give them.

  • Tamra Phelps

Connie, I love car chases, too!!! Remember when the news channels would interrupt regular programming to air those California car chases!!! Man, those were entertaining.

  • Kate Sarsfield

It’s cold & wet, the hour went back last night so it’s dark at 5pm, and my body clock’s all jumbled up. Time for pizza!

  • Rose

Another spectacular day!!! We haven’t had rain and now there is fire danger, but it has been amazing to enjoy, as it has been warm, also!!! And they say may be the warmest Halloween yet! Wow!

  • heather

I plan on having a nice mellow Sunday hope you have a great one too. I was running around all week and today I binge watching some shows and filling my face lol.

  • Michele Soyer

Between yesterday and today all i can do is go back into my memories..yesterday my mum passed it has been 19 years and it fells like yesterday – I can still see her in her chair reading her book telling me lets take the day off..lol
today is my wedding anniversry – 1970 wow that too seems like yesterday.. going to put on music that celebrates both events and try and smile….

  • Jill Y

I can’t believe it’s almost November! October has been pretty mild (thankfully). The dog training is going okay. I think the younger dog is getting bored, so I might need to come up with something new to train him.

  • l p

the day is going well. batch-cooking was on the to-do list for the day. chilly nights help with cooling things down quickly without taking up fridge space. enjoy the day. l p

    • Connie: The Head Peanut

Lately we are addicted to On Patrol Live. It’s only on Friday and Saturday nights but OHMGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE what these cops have to put up with! Not only that but I’m beginning to think that NO ONE except maybe 10 people actually have a drivers license?? WHAT the HECK!? And car chases. LOVE me a car chase.

  • Kate Sarsfield

PJ, the mechanic, has ordered a new brake switch so I’m to go back on Thursday. Checked the prices online & only a couple of Euro so not too bad. Went back to bed when I got back. I missed out on a lot of sleep because of the wind lately & do feel a bit better now. Of course, having 4 cats walking all over me at night doesn’t help!

  • heather

I am thinking of making a trip to the store and library today. I have to really plan out my day ‘going to town’ is like a 50 mile trip for me (round trip).

  • Michele Soyer

Truckers coming on Nov 1st. Sailing on Nov 11. Should reach Houston Port around the 21st. Booking tickets for the 21st and also the Air B and B….
When we reach Houston booking the tickets for Minneapolis for around Dec 3rd also the Air B and B..I want a white Christmas for the first time in 24 years! After the holidays are over we sill start looking at condos in Minnesota….I feel like another chapter in my life is beginning and I thought here was going to be the last one – I was so wrong!

  • gloria patterson

Trip to Krogers shop on friday get extra gas points, and a $1.00 off a gallon really helps. I put frozen & cold stuff in cooler and off to the discount store. Picked up a few things.

Home, stuff away and a LONG nap

  • Rose

We have another awesome weather day! And peeking at the 10-day forecast, it is supposed to stay this way all next week – wowie. Everyone is saying this has been the best fall ever. And I had been fretting that we were supposed to have the worst hurricane season -so far, none. So I’m saying that real quiet…. so Mother Nature doesn’t hear it and notice they forgot to send a few this way.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Booked my car in re. the faulty brake light. Rang the electric company. My Smart meter stopped recording my usage etc. on the 15th Oct. for some reason. I check my usage every week or so, so hadn’t noticed till now. Shouldn’t take long to sort out. I lost power for about 6 hours last night – really windy. Don’t plan on doing much today. Tired.

  • heather

We got our wood delivered for the fall/winter season and today I have to haul a bunch of it to the house. It has been super chilly here tha past few nights but no real rain ‘all hat and no cattle’. lol

  • Michele Soyer

Scheduling this week….trucks to come and pack and take away everything to the container port.
Scheduling vet for a final health certificate for the cats.
Airlines tickets @ AA in Port of Spain office.
Handling all paperwork with US Customs broker
Booking a storage facility in Houston
Booking an Air B and B in Houston
    I need more coffee!

  • gloria patterson

Therapy today only 2 more sessions to go………………. I will miss it 🙁

Then to kroger to pick up prescriptions.

    I am not sure what I did today…………… I know I had a 2 hr nap

  • Jill Y

The dog training is still going okay. The younger dog is easily distracted when not near the house. The older dog is so easy to work with as long as I have treats. LOL. We are going to have a few warmer days before it gets chilly again.

  • Tamra Phelps

Kate, if cars here had to be checked like they do there, half the cars on the road would fail, lol. I mean, here if you can get it to run and get it insured, you can drive it, lol. Okay, that’s a slight exageration. every year you have to get a new sticker tag for your license plate but they never actually look at the car. You just go in, pay the fee, and leave–you just slap the sticker on as you leave, usually.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Gloria: the test covers everything from top to toe including emissions etc. Failure to pass means it’s illegal to drive, your insurance will be suspended etc. One of the brake lights failed – loose wiring. I’ve a month to get it fixed then back for re-test. I am NOT keeping the kitten! Four is enough for me!

Busy day: got the car ready for it’s test, did the weekly shopping etc. Trying to unload bags with 4 cats under your feet is tricky!

    • gloria patterson

      Kate
Not sure what ALL they check, I know tires, brakes, lights, ??????????? Over the years I have had to have a few tires replaced. Sounds like they check there from A to Z. Sounds like your car was pretty good

Well let us know when you take the kitten in!!!!!!!!!!! Or decided you have room for another one 🙂

  • l p

the day is going well. started out not that well – was able to get 1/3 of the things on the shopping list. things perked up later with a surprise visit from a friend. enjoy your day. thanks

  • heather

Busy day ahead for me today. Taking loved one to a doctors appointment they usually last for three hours so I am packing my bag of treats, books and my tablet to keep myself busy.

  • gloria patterson

Have not done any thing today!!! Have not even opened my door today. A little computer time, a little reading, a nap!!! Got hungry so I found some chili in the freezer to lazy to get the can opener out ………..

  • Jill Y

It’s chilly again! It is that time of year. LOL. The dogs are barking, and all I can think is that they are barking at me because they haven’t seen me yet today (so haven’t gotten doggy treats).

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m snuggled up in bed in my new flannelette duvet cover & sheet. I LOVE them, so cosy! Only one death at the rescue centre this week, looks like the virus has run it’s course at last. Have to take my car for it’s annual safety test tomorrow. It only has to last me one more year till my pension kicks in so crossing everything!

    • gloria patterson

That is great news about the virus. Are you going to take that last cat in to them?? Or has your heart falled in love with him/her?

Annual safety test ???? What all do they check? Here we call it car inspection, they check tires, brakes, lights etc. Just had mine done and also had them do a oil change since I was there. How old is your car? my car is a 2009 with low mileage. I remember you were having battery problems last winter (((I THINK 🙂 ))

  • l p

the day is going well. several appointments to take care of. most are indoors which is great on this very chilly Fall day. enjoy your day. thanks

  • heather

I did a bunch of running around yesterday so today I am sticking close to home. I need to do some work outside before the wet weather finally hits us here.

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s not nearly as cold and windy as yesterday so today’s walk was much easier. quiet evening getting caught up on correspondence. enjoy the day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Left at 8:30 for therapy ………….. When I left they were starting to tear down the 3 story house across the street from my building. Have been watching them taking windows etc out. When I got home about 4 hrs later the house was gone. There was just a little stuff left on the ground.

I live in a college town (WVU) and years ago people bought these older houses for students to rent. Today a lot of them have been sitting empty. The city bought and are tearing down 55 structures covering 9.5 acres. The plans are to get them all tore down. And down the road there are going to be stores and food.

Have not done much at all, have a book I am finishing

  • Katrine

I had a whole pile of laundry to do this morning. After several loads, it was all washed, cleaned, and put away. Now for some fun.

  • Rose

Another gorgeous day, and the fall foliage is extra nice this year. We’ve not had hardly any rain to cause the leaves to come down. Everyone is on FB posting pics. We had the northern lights, last week, too. Wowzer!

  • Polly Hall

My husband and I took a walk on our back wooded acreage it is so over grown It was very hard to walk through now I’m exhausted.

  • Kate Sarsfield

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! The storm was blowing, we were all safe & sound, but I couldn’t get to sleep. At 5am, cold & wide awake, I said to myself “I wish Bryn was here”! See, he sleeps under the covers, nestled up against me. In he came & snuggled up. Then I felt a strange warm sensation & checked under the covers. He had farted & pooped. Pooped on the under sheet, my Tshirt & me. At 5.30am. Finally got to sleep at 8.

  • heather

I am waking up and planning my day at the moment. I need to make a trip to Costco but not sure if I want to do that today as it is always packed and the parking lot is always packed.

  • Tamra Phelps

Oh my gosh, a building site nearby (building a new school) was jack-hammering today and something about where I am and where they are has that sound hitting here really hard, lol. I can feel it in my bones. My ears feel like they need to pop all day. It’s not loud. In fact it’s a low sound. But it just gets under the skin.

  • gloria patterson

Quick trip to walmart and Dollar tree, back home and everthing put away. Done a little of this and not much of that. Lazy today!!!

  • heather

I am sipping my hot tea and listening to last nights nightly news. It really bothers me how fast they talk and spit out the news they sounds like auctioneers gives me anxiety.

  • Michele Soyer

More calls to our ahipper today arranging the booking and a better idea of the timing…I also have to get a customs broker for the US side….One thing at a time as mum would say… As the time draws closer I do want to drive around looking at places and remembering my initial memory of here – not on holiday for carnival but the actual move here….

  • Kate Sarsfield

Phew! Made it through the first wave. Lost power for a bit but not too bad. It’s almost 6am Monday here and the cats have just woken me to let them out. The next wave is due to start in about 2 hours – here we go again! Thanks for the good wishes, ladies xxx

  • Tamra Phelps

Not a really busy week coming up, but Friday is when I go back for my 6 month mammogram. That’s always a little stressful. But I have no reason to expect bad news.

  • Anonymous

Done a bit of this and not much of that. Laundry done and put away, still going through cabinets, drawers and getting rid of stuff. A lot of it I didn’t know I had …………… and of course got my nap in

  • heather

I am voting today and then I am done with it!!!! Hope you have a nice day we should be seeing some rain come our way and I can’t wait.

  • Michele Soyer

A rainy Sunday – I plan on putting a casserole in the oven no roast today and reading and relaxing – and of course music!

  • Kate Sarsfield

10.30 in the morning & very little sleep. Storm Ashley has arrived bringing wind up to 100mph. You’ve never seen so many leaves falling. It’s like a snowstorm of leaves! The storm’s here till Tuesday, so doing this now just in case. I’ve a big pot of veggie chilli in case the electricity goes & plenty of cat food. Cleaned the inside of my car ready for it’s annual test on Thursday and gave the cats their 3-monthly worm tablets. OMG never seen so many tapeworms (thankfully dead!). Almost, but not quite, put me off last night’s spicy pizza. I mean, I sleep with these guys every night and they’ve got all these worms wriggling around inside them – AGH!

  • gloria patterson

Its a little warmer today, the sun has been shining!! Next week in the 70’s

Baked chicken breast, cleaned a little and took a long nap

  • l p

the day is going well. an early appointment went as predicted. it was nice the winds have died down so it seemed warmer out there. enjoy the day. thanks

  • heather

Just getting going here still dark out. I am warming up the house at the moment and listening to the news. I am so tired of political ads I am ready to run screaming out into traffic!

  • Kate Sarsfield

The sun is shining! However, it’s the calm before the storm. Storm Ashley is due to hit tomorrow so time to prep a big pot of something & buy new batteries for the big torch. If you don’t hear from me I’ll be in bed! As for now, I’ve popped a caffeine tab so up & at ’em! I don’t know how you coffee drinkers handle caffeine everyday! One glass of cola & I’m buzzin’ for hours!

Tamra/Gloria: already removed the water saver thingy. It’s not mains water, you see, and a bungalow, so the pressure just isn’t there. I’ll get there, don’t worry.

    • gloria patterson

Kate I don’t drink coffee only tried it once. And caffeine does nothing for me. I could drink a coke and right to sleep, Hopefully you can talk to someone and they can just give you some good advice…………..

  • Tamra Phelps

It wasn’t too cold today, just a typical Fall day, I guess. But it is definitely not Summer anymore, lol. At least it’s Friday. Happy weekend to us!

  • Jill Y

It got a little chilly last night and my heater is not at it’s best. So I cuddled up in my blankets and got nice and cozy. 🙂

  • Anonymous

I have been cold all day. Quick trip to kroger, I like that double gas points. Then home grocery’s away. Then off to get my car inspection (LAW), oil change, new wipers, and they ordered a new side mirror. Did you know that it is against the law not to have a side mirror (WV) on your car.

    HOME —- NAP

  • Kate Sarsfield

It has bucketed down all day but due to clear up soon so I’ll check on the washing & feed the kitten that’s in the shed. My shower doesn’t work properly – not enough pressure/gravity. I have a brand new one but will have to check out prices of plumbers/electricians. Last time Mum & I got a new shower fitted it cost over €400, not including the shower!

    • gloria patterson

Kate not sure what kinda of stores you have but…………. Go to a hardware store, small or big store and tell them the problem. Maybe its just a water saver in the shower head…………. something simple.

    • Tamra Phelps

I was thinking the same thing as Gloria! Remove the water saver! I do that every time I buy a new shower head. Usually you just unscrew the head and it’s a little plastic piece that partially bloscks the holes.

  • heather

It is one chilly morning here. I am trying to heat up the house at the moment. I knew it was cold last night when my cat was hogging the middle of the bed.

  • Michele Soyer

Spent a good part of yesterday taling to our shipper for the best way to move the container…believe it or not the least expensive ( and for all intents and purposes as high as that is) is through Houston Tx port then over land to Minneapolis St Paul….they will arrange the whole thing including the overland hauler – but we have to “clear” the container inhouston.. alright, well we have never been to Texas so there is the adventure! This is going to be quite an adventure – the timing has to be as accurate as possible. I do not want to spend too much on hotels etc…faith Michele faith! LOL

  • Polly Hall

I made 2 batches of Cinnamon rock candy using an extract the first batch I used a teaspoon of Cinn. extract what the recipe called for I could not even taste the Cinn. So in the second batch I more than doubled it and I still could not taste much Cinn. I’m going to buy some Cinn oil and try it one more time.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Busy day today: trip to Ballina to pick up black floor paint & PVA glue, then to the opticians to collect my new reading specs & the the weekly grocery shop. Popped into a charity shop & got a couple of sweatshirts really cheap and perfect for gardening/decorating.

  • gloria patterson

It was 38 this morning when I left the building. In the higher elevations of WV they had a couple of inches of snow at Snowshoe (Sking area). Next week we are in the 70’s all week.

Therapy, filled the car up had $1.00 off per gallon.

Was cold when I got home decided I needed a nap………… 2 hr later

  • Rose

Day is going good! How is it noontime already!!! It is another beautiful day, and the foliage is spectactular. I just came in from outside, too nice to be inside!

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s cold out there but the sun really makes a difference. out early to do some errands. now to tackle the indoors. sun brings out the dust. enjoy the day. thanks

  • heather

I slept in this morning because our power went out last night three times. I was tired of resetting the clock in the middle of the night. I so plan on calling and finding out what the hell is going on with the power outages in our area. I just know when I call I will get ‘lip service’ because the people who answer the phone don’t even live in the area and give you some canned response.

  • Polly Hall

I took our winter quilt to the laundromat to use the large washer. I’ve not been to a laundromat since the 70’s it cost $10. to use the large washer, 40 quarters, you would think that after 50 years they would have changed the machines to take bills not just quarters.

  • Kate Sarsfield

The warmest October day on record and another one tomorrow! The feline parvo virus is still picking off the weakest kittens – another 3 died this week.

  • gloria patterson

Wednesday is always my day to do nothing! The heat has kicked on a couple of times. It is 4:35 and we just made it to 47……………..

Next week we have a heat wave in the 70’s all week

  • heather

We are finally getting some rain here so that makes me very very very happy! It was bone dry out there and that is just not normal for this time of year here. I hope it really pours today fingers crossed.

  • Tamra Phelps

I considered turning the heat on today, lol. Or maybe just carting out the space heater. It was cold today, and we have a freeze advisory tonight.

  • Terri Quick

I found The Muppets at Walt Disney from 1990. It was a couple of years or so after I went there with my father before he died from cancer.

  • Jill Y

We got a sprinkling this afternoon!! And I took the dogs out for a little leash training. The older dog is VERY food motivated so it’s going better than I imagined with him. LOL

Had therapy today I always feel good when I walk out….. only 5 more sessions and I am done.

Its is 5:15 and it has reached 48!!! I have had the heat on today.

Got the old microwave out and put the new one in place. DO YOU KNOW ALL MICROWAVE NOW HAVE A LOCK ON THEM. I saved the instuctions just in case.

And had a 2 hour nap

  • Rose

Another super day out, and the leaves are starting to change for real! I thought I’d tackle a bit of going through folders and start shredding earlier than usual – a little bit more often is not too bad, rather than trying to do it in one timeframe, forme, anyway.

  • l p

the day is going well. waiting for a phone call and parcel delivery so doing lots of little things around here. enjoy your day. thanks.

  • Kate Sarsfield

UGH! Combine trapped wind belly ache and cows crying for their babies in the next door field (they’ve been separated for selling) and I was still awake at 7am. Managed to get a couple of hours and now trying to decide whether to do a bit of housework or go back to sleep.

    • gloria patterson

It has been YEARS but I have hear the crying before…………… and it breaks your heart.

Hope it was back to sleep!

  • heather

I had two shot in my arm yesterday and today when I woke up the pain was pretty bad. I am just doing stuff around the house today. Thinking of making cheeseburgers with avocados and garden tomatoes for dinner.

  • Michele Soyer

Going out tomorow to all the shoppes so today is a dust and tidy day…Maybe a BBQ for lunch and a scary movie in the afternoon – no – another season of Evil love that show, sorry they cancelled it – doing very well now they moved it to NetFlix….

  • Robert A

Today was a little better – I got a decent amount of work done. Still not feeling too great in general, but I’m hopeful that it will pass soon.

  • Lexie D.

I am Catholic as well so I tend to shy away from demonic/possession movies! That being said, my favorite Halloween movie is Disney’s Halloweentown!

  • gloria patterson

Microwave died last night!!! I don’t use it that much ………………. BUT what if you do need it???

Off to walmart this morning just got a compact one. All I ever use it for is frozen food.

Great niece was off school today so she and her grandma stopped in to see me.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Another day that was supposed to be spent catching up on all the things I was supposed to do but didn’t get around to doing. Did a bit, but not much. Going through a bit of an ‘I couldn’t be bothered’ phase.

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s bread-baking day – with the miserable weather outside, a good day to stay in and bake. enjoy your day. thanks

  • N

Favorite Halloween/ Scary movie?…..honestly do not have one. I am a horror/ sci if/ thriller fan, to name one is complicated. Let’s just pick a classic, Halloween.

  • heather

My day is off to a bad start! The power just came back on here and I just finished resetting all the clocks. Ticked me off so bad I was making up new four letter words here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just three days ago, three – our power went off too. I am starting to really wonder what the deal is? And… today is a holiday so I can’t even call and yell at someone about it. I am starting to wonder if they are just trying to get the overtime????

  • N

How’s my day….suppose it’s just like y’all’s. Same crap, different day. Just trying to see the beauty in it! Blessed journeys!

  • Michele Soyer

Well I have a list of things to do today that does not include cooking or cleaning! Lists to make, phone calls that type of thing.
Delilah our pooch is having a “playdate” with her sister today so the outside cats are not happy.. 2 big dogs frolicking and jumping around. no no no!

  • Robert A

My all-time favorite Halloween movie is the The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love just about every Tim Burton movie especially the one’s with scores by Danny Elfman, but TNBC will always be my favorite.

  • Robert A

My day was alright, I got some errands done which made me feel productive. But I’ve had a lot on my mind recently and overall things just haven’t been that awesome.

  • Marlene V.

My day is going great. Went for a hike with my family and planted some trees. Now I am cuddling with my puppies and relaxing with my husband and watching some TV. A very great day!

  • l p

the day is going well. out for a walk in the wonderful weather earlier. heading out to visit a friend and help with some downsizing. enjoy your day thanks

  • gloria patterson

I am still on the get rid of kick …………. pull a drawer out … why why is that in there …. GONE

I am enjoying getting rid of stuff!!! Some stuff is trash other stuff I take down to our give-a-way table.

Did a kate got a 3 hr nap in…………… JUST THINK TIME CHANGE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

  • Kate Sarsfield

Ugh! It’s turned cold & damp so got the winter woollies out. Definitely need my fingerless gloves today. Not done a whole lot of anything else really.

  • Michele Soyer

Spent yesterday researching hotel at the airport rates for both Newark NJ ( the city I was born in and raised in ) and Houston Tx….also checked Air B and B rates for both cities in case it takes awhile to clear the container…Texas is less expensive on both but the airfare from here to either city is about the same here to miami then change for a direct flight…Today I plan on an Italian lunch. an easy one not braciole (lol) and my book….Happy Sunday all…

  • heather

I am getting some stuff done around the house today. I started watching the final season of The Crown last night and plan on binge watching that later on.

  • Christopher S

I was thinking about chasing my dreams earlier today, but I didn’t feel like making the effort so I told my dreams I’d catch up to them later.. 🙂

  • gloria patterson

I am on a get rid of stuff kick!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much stuff that I don’t really need or want…

Wide awake at 5:30 am ……………. Baked some chicken breast and then I baked some sausage links. I like to keep cooked sausage links & pattys in the freezer. Quick and easy to fix breakfast.

    Then I did a Kate…………. almost a 3 hr nap

  • Kate Sarsfield

My day started off full of good intentions to do more work on the house, then I fell back to sleep. Three hours later (lunchtime), I caught up on the usual morning chores (mostly cat-related) & had breakfast. The cats came back in for a nap and I joined them. We woke at seven pm! Chucked a shop-bought pizza in the oven, fed the cats & now we’re all back in bed again!

  • Rose

I wish I could say a fav Halloween movie. I haven’t had a TV in decades, and don’t see too many movies, I’m missing out, have to see what are some good ones!

    • Rose

I never watched TV much growing up. My sisters did. I played piano, did art, read, etc. I don’t know it never interested me. I did watch Golden Bachelor online, though LOL. Now it seems ironic they split up!

  • Rose

It is the nicest day! Nice to be outside for a while. My new Liebman Nitty Gritty mop arrived today, my new toy, and so I’m washing floors with my nifty mop, lovin’ it. I have the anise cookie dough made to bake cookies tomorrow.

  • heather

I think I am sticking close to home today. Been driving around like crazy for the past few days and I need a serious break. Hope you all have a nice Saturday it’s hard to believe we are in the middle of October already.

  • Michele Soyer

Talked to the shipper yesterday and there is some pivoting to do – even though there are 2 container ports in Mn – Minneapolis St Paul and Duluth shippers from the Caribbean have a designated port of call – and Mn is not one of them they do not transfer from Atlantic lanes to Great Lakes lanes sooooooooo. we only have 2 choices. the Port Newark or the Port of Houston! OK so now we have to think about an over land haul….told our shipping agent to try and do a bit better for us if pssible I know they do transfer points – been that route in 1998 when our container was transferred in error and it went to Korea…yes Korea….instead of 1 month our container was lost for 3 months….Wednesday is our next meeting with him…I plan on reading relaxing and by late afternoon a single malt…..

  • Tamra Phelps

Talked to my Dad yesterday & Kate would love this: a cat has showed up at his house & claimed them, I guess, lol. They had a cat that died recently, and it cme to them the same way years ago.

  • Polly Hall

We got back last night from a mini visit to upper Michigan, today I was exhausted so I did not do much just one load of laundry.

  • Terri Quick

My lousy so called brother gave our elderly mother absolutely nothing for her birthday, so I’ve spent the day going from crying to angry & back again

  • Kate Sarsfield

Ohhh, the absolute bliss of waking up naturally after a good night’s sleep! No cats crying & pulling my hair ‘cos they’re hungry or want to get out. It was lovely. Cleared out & tidied the shed (the little cat’s still sleeping there every night until the feline parvo virus is completely cleared from the centre). All 5 of us curled up for a nap this afternoon.

  • heather

My day is going better now that the power came back on. The power goes out here all of the time and it makes me a little nuts. Just got finished resetting all the clocks now on to reading my emails.

  • gloria patterson

Left this morning to head to krogers at 7:45 and it was 38………………………. We are up to 67 right now

Picked up some pork chops and baked them ………. they turned out good.

Now I am ready for a nap

  • l p

the day is going well. it started out with fog but is now just mildly overcast. no precip forecast but one never knows. up early as the construction workers are getting in as much time on the job as possible. enjoy the day. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

saw the doctor today; back on antibiotics, probably going to see a specialist. At least the issue has been addressed, lol.

  • Jill Y

Most of the time (for now), I don’t mind living next to my sister and brother-in-law. Then there are the times that my BIL won’t quit talking. Those times can get annoying. LOL

  • Anonymous

I was half way to therapy when I thought ………………. my phone! I touched my pocket and it was NOT there. I have never forget my phone before. I always make sure I check in to therapy about 15 minutes before appointment and usually sit there on my phone…………… NO phone where do you look.

  • Kate Sarsfield

… and they’ve gone 🙂 The last of the hammering, drilling & muddy boots in and out is at an end and while I’m extremely thankful, I’m delighted to get my little house back to myself and some sort of routine. I’ll be able to sleep in or take a nap when I want (or if the cats allow me) and no more having to make sure I’m washed and dressed at a ridiculously early hour. Spent most of the day catching up on bills, admin. etc. Too flipping cold to go out.

  • heather

I am getting ready for a doctors appointment this morning hope all goes well. After that is over I must get a treat for myself.

  • Michele Soyer

So glad to know my family in Florida are all ok – one set evacuated….What to do today?? not much really so after coffee a playdate with the pooch!

  • Jennifer Wilson

HoneyButter the guinea pig didn’t make it. My heart is broken. I went from 3 guinea pigs to 0 in just a few hours. (I took the other two back to the rescue so they would be safe after the accident, and taking them back meant I surrendered them.) I miss all my girls so much. . .

  • Tamra Phelps

Doctor’s appointment tomorrow, probably just another UTI. Ugh. That makes me feel sluggish and then antibiotics make me feel blah, too. Lol, at least it’s easily treatable.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Another hectic day at the rescue centre but I popped a caffeine tablet beforehand so kept on going! I envy those of you who like coffee. Resting now & sleep soon.

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s a chilly day so I’m making a big pot of soup and freezing some for later. always nice to come home to home-made soup. enjoy your day. thanks

  • Michele Soyer

Glad to see everyone here is doing ok – if there is anyone here from western coast of Fla or anywhere in Fla
I hope you are safe and evacuated if need be….
We have been really busy day after day with moving preparations – scheduling container day, getting a rental lease agreement done, all other various and sundry pesky phone calls etc…today is a rest relax day as soon I hear back from family and dear friend in Fla – Boca and the Keys….

    • Tamra Phelps

I have family in Seminole, which is just across from St. Pete and next to Tampa. Very worried about them but they seem to just shrug it off. Of course, that just makes us worry more!

  • heather

One of the light bulbs in my bedroom ceiling fixture went out the other day and hadn’t gotten around to replacing it. Today it works perfectly – Spooky!

  • l p

the day is going well. out early to do some errands while the sun was out. now doing the home chores. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Appointment with knee doctor this morning………….

X-RAYS ……… per dr THE KNEE LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!

And it is also feels good! I am realeased and next appointment is JULY 17, 2025

Will finish therapy on Oct 31

  • Kate Sarsfield

My attic is now insulated! The guys found a leak in the roof – a broken slate. I’ll have to sort that out no matter the cost 🙁 The last stage of the renovations starts Thursday: pumping insulating foam into the exterior cavity walls. I’ll be glad when it’s all over. The guys have all been lovely & very efficient but it has been very disruptive, especially for the cats. Hopefully the need to ‘mark’ their territory will end when things get back to normal. I’m tired of finding little pee puddles!

    • gloria patterson

leak in the roof – a broken slate —- ITS A GOOD THING THEY FOUND IT.

You have to be so excited that they are almost finished. Just think how warm your home is going to be this winter!!!

  • heather

I did a lot of work yesterday in and outside the house and I am feeling it today. I slept way in this morning and am a slow moving train today.

  • Tamra Phelps

I had an ART session earlier today, and that went well. So far, it seems to really help. Other than that, not much has happened today.

  • gloria patterson

We had a big storm come in last night, I was asleep early and heard power go off (fans off lol) but back to sleep and I heard nothing till around 4 the power came back on……….. back to sleep.

Up and out by 7:30 and off to walmart. The storm was really bad they had several accidents on interstate and had to close it down early hrs of the morning.

It was 55 when I left the house and at 5:19 pm it is only 64 Going to be cool all week

  • heather

I am doing some catch up housework today and making the hummingbird some fresh food. Also thinking it’s gonna be shake n bake chicken for dinner – I LOVE it!

  • Kate Sarsfield

Well, the clear up continues; vaccuuming, mopping, dusting etc. Two rooms almost finished, then sorting the furniture for those rooms & start on another etc. etc., pictures, mirrors to be hung, worktops to be constructed, touch-up painting and so on. Lastly start painting the hallway, then finally lay carpet tiles/carpet runner in the hall. The shed needs to be sorted as well, to store wood for the winter.

The Grand Plan is to have one bedroom, the wardrobe/storage room, change the ‘good room’ to a living room, change the living room to a room for cooking, cats, office etc. & change the add-on kitchen into a utility/laundry room with space for indoor gardening! I’ve done all the measuring & it ‘should’ work. There’s no point having a 2nd bedroom just sitting there gathering dust. If I ever have visitors, they can take my bed & I’ll sleep on the couch.

    • gloria patterson

Kate love your plan !!!!!!!!! Totally agree about the second bedroom a waste as bedroom so many other uses. And what a great ideal for indoor garden. Sounds like it will keep you busy for a while and then it will be done!!!!

  • l p

the day is going well. it has been threatening to rain all day but hasn’t. would love it if it only rained at night. thanks

  • gloria patterson

It’s 4 pm and it has been a long day……………………………

Wake at 6 which is my normal, decided I would do laundry….. all done put away maybe a nap………………….NO NO NO cannot go to sleep.

So I have been doing something most of the day cleaning out drawers, moving stuff around. ETC ETC ETC I have even dusted and hate to dust.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Doo Doo Doo Doo .. scrolling through Mum’s old phone (my new one) trying to work out how the alarm works & then up popped the camera app with 1 photo in it. Opened it up … Mum! I don’t remember taking it so maybe she worked it out for herself??? Goosebumps & a few tears & smiles …

  • heather

I am so staying home today need to be mellow. My stomach was hurting so bad it woke me up this morning. I am sipping my tea and feeling a little better now. I plan on watching some shows and eating some goodies.

  • Tamra Phelps

I guess I’m like Kate today–it was after 2 when I finally had breakfast, too, lol. I didn’t get up until almost noon, then I got distracted a few times doing things. Finally, I brushed my teeth and washed my face and had breakfast.

  • gloria patterson

Wide awake at 4 am…………….. the sad part is I didn’t go to sleep till after 1

Up dressed, cleaned out the refrig, cleaned all the veggies and fruit I got friday…………. my fridge looks so good. Trash out. And off and on all day long I have picked up and throw some stuff away.

  • Kate Sarsfield

There’s a storm brewing out there so staying in and the closest I’ve got to clearing up is to make a list! Heck, I didn’t even have breakfast till 2pm. I will get around to it but maybe not today. Just sooooo tired.

  • heather

Hope you are having a nice Saturday. I am debating whether or not to go grocery shopping today. I need to do my BIG grocery shopping for the month but know better than to go on a Saturday. The store where I do my BIG grocery shopping is a mad house on the weekend and it makes me a little nuts.

  • gloria patterson

Today my sister in law and brother have been married since 1980 …………… hard to believe 44 yrs! I don’t know how she has put up with him. She is a great sister in law to have.

Got up dressed out the door headed to kroger get that 4x gas points on friday. Got on the elevator pushed #1 and leaned back against the wall ………….. looked at the floor numbers and THEIR WERE NO NUMBERS! Just flashing symbols ……… First though is this going down!! I lived!

Done home, rode up in a different elevator put everthing away and did a Kate……………. 3 hr nap

  • l p

the day is going well. spending part of the day making goodies for family and friends. and the rest of the time daydreaming – love your products GTPLAYER. enjoy the day and w/e. thanks

  • Kate Sarsfield

Today consisted of sleep and yet more sleep. Got the shivers from the shots but other than that just catching up on some much-needed peace & quiet. The contractors are here again on Monday & Tuesday to inject the cavity walls with that insulating foam stuff so they’ll be outdoors. Plan to start on cleaning, painting, re-arranging furniture etc. tomorrow but we’ll see!
And no, Gloria. I haven’t had a shower yet! So used to ‘top & tailing’ at the sink!

  • heather

I have some running around to do today so getting ready for that. I have to go to Costco wish me luck everytime I go there it’s like a bloodsport!

  • Tamra Phelps

Having an ugh stomach day. Just kind of queasy. I guess it might be those 4 doughnuts from last night, lol. That might have been a mistake!

    • gloria patterson

Tamra Queasy stomach…………….. This is going to be hard to believe but a nurse gave it to me when I had knee replacement and I buzzed and said I think I am going to be sick. He came running in with opened ALCOHOL PREP PADs and told me to take small breath of it. IT WORKS IT STOPPED THE FEELING and I have bought a box or 2 and have used them several times. Don’t know what it is but it works for me!

  • gloria patterson

This morning I was feeling good coughing a lot. Off to therapy, had to wear a mask. Didn’t know how much I could do there it has been 8 days. I was afraid I was going to start coughing a lot. I don’t know if it was strenches, stepper but I didn’t cough any during ALL of the excerise maybe I was breathing good.

When I walked out of the building I was breathing good and felt great.

Home but never got around to the nap!!

  • Kate Sarsfield

What I didn’t mention yesterday (too tired) was that when I got home in the dark, I had been locked out! I had visions of having to sleep in the car but tried the back door again. That was open apart from the chain across & I gave it a good ol’ shove (forgot about the Covid shot!). No joy so gave it a big kick & smashed the doorframe off the wall! Hoorah! Contacted the office this morning & a carpenter has just left, having fixed it. Back to bed now for another nap! Honestly, I could do without the drama!

    • gloria patterson

Kate some days for you!!!!!!!!!!! But you just pick yourself up and keep on going!! YOU are one heck of a woman!!!

      B U T ………………… HOW WAS THE HOT SHOWER ??????????????????????????????

  • heather

***Twilight Zone*** – I just noticed that all the comments from 10-2-24 are gone? Hope they are out there somewhere. Still waking up here getting things going. We got our new glass stovetop installed yesterday still haven’t used it though. I am so scared that I will drop something and the whole damn thing will break.

  • Polly Hall

Last week and this week have been so busy and today I have only one thing that I have to do, well two things if you count making dinner. But most of the day is mine to do what I want.

  • gloria patterson

Have not done much of anything today but I do feel better!!

Got hungry thank goodness for frozen foods. I pulled out salmon there was 2 in the box but just wanted one. Now I wished I had fixed the 2 ………………………… was so good.

  • gloria patterson

    Halloween movies spooky

I used to love those movies and would watch all of them Hichcock was my favorites — the birds

I only watch the exorcist once at the movies……… never was interested in seeing again..

I love the movies then for somme reason I stopped watching all of them another one I can think of is Freedie

  • Kate Sarsfield

Drumroll please! I now have central heating & hot water! AND A SHOWER!!!!! I last had a shower on Tues. 16th. May last year and will have one tomorrow. Too tired tonight. Got my ‘flu & Covid jabs yesterday & just want to sleep. Goodnight!

    • gloria patterson

Kate I am so happy for you central heat & hot water!!!!!!!!!! I can just see you in the morning taking a hot shower and look out and ever one of your kids ( cats) are sitting there watching you.

Do they have any thing else left to do on your home?????

Got my flu and covid couple weeks ago my arms started hurting late in the evening couple tylenol and I was good to good the next day.

  • Jill Y.

I love seeing blue sky. Where I was before, we never had this much blue sky. That’s why I am always bringing it up. LOL

  • Jennifer Wilson

I never was much into movies, and Halloween was forbidden much of my life. I do love It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, though.

  • Jennifer Wilson

There was a horrible accident the other night with my sweet little HoneyButter. Because she is a guinea pig, finding a vet who would see her Monday night was impossible. She is currently in an animal hospital near Baltimore. I love her so much and want her to recover. All I know at the moment is she is on antibiotics and pain meds and surgery is tentively scheduled for Friday.

  • gloria patterson

First I forgot this from yesterday…………..

While at kroger waiting on my new prescription I was looking for stuff to eat. Have to eat with the medications and food has not been something I want. So a little of this and that. Got in the check out lane behine a OLD couple (I can say that I am old lol) He was in front of the cart talking and she was behind trying to unload all the stuff and she said something to him and he turned around and told her to SHUT UP!!! I was not real sure if he said what I heard. After they moved off and I ask the cashier DID HE TELL HER TO SHUT UP???? The cashier and the baggie both heard it. IF it had been me he said that to that cart would have put him on his ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I feel pretty good! Picked up a little this morning. I live in a senior bldg 100 apartments. First tuesday of ever month they have a service that comes in and sprays for bugs. Ever apartment and all public areas. In the 10 years I have lived here I have had NO BUGS, spiders, not even flies in my apartment. (( and it does NOT smell)

Have done a little computer, read but no nap LOL

  • Tamra Phelps

I’m jealous of your new chair! It looks so comfortable. The rain has finally gone away heer, so that’s nice. A lot of people are still waiting for water to go down around us, but at least the rain has stopped.

  • Tamra Phelps

Hmm, favorite Halloween movie…I guess I tend to go for the Hitchcock style movie, the kind that seems plausibel. Not gore and almost sci-fi stuff that seems like they would never happen, but Hitchcock’s stuff that makes you think, ‘oh, that could totally happen!’ The Birds still creeps me out. Psycho still scares me. Rear Window gives me chills when Grace Kelly sneaks into the villains apartment and he comes home while she’s there, and Jimmy Stewart is watching through a telescope but can’t get to her. That could happen in real life.

  • Elizabeth

Actual Halloween movie? I’m pretty chicken; can’t take horror movies (Shallow Grave is about my limit, but it’s more of a modern noir), and even the Peanuts Halloween special gets me down (that creepy ghost costume with too many holes, and poor Linus and the Great Pumpkin fiasco!). I like some of the Simpsons Halloween ones before they got too visceral; Homer in the third dimension, or selling his soul for a donut…

    • Elizabeth

Oh, I know! The original What We Do In The Shadows movie is awesome (though I like the TV series too, mostly the first three seasons)…

  • heather

My favorite Halloween movie to watch is The Shining. It’s hard to pick just one The Exorcist is on a whole nother level of scary.

  • heather
