Walter’s Puppy Survival Guide: Washable Pee Pads
Listen up, fellow furball friends. Walter here, your resident 15-week-old puppy correspondent with another installment of Puppy Survival. Today, I’m giving you the inside scoop on washable pee pads and helping you prepare for the messy reality of life with your humans.
Puppy Potty Training: Dealing with Accidents in the House
I’m embarrassed to admit that I am still not 100% potty trained. IN MY DEFENSE! I am only 3 months old. HOWever, it does not keep my Mom from losing her shit. (Oh look, I made a funny, just like my Mom does)
First Mom found a bag of disposable pee pads at Goodwill. $2! DONE!!! Let me tell ya furry friends, those taste delicious. The fluff inside is so much fun to toss around. Then when my human spots me…….. well, Mom yells “I KNEW he was too quiet!” followed by a quick game of chase. It’s exhilarating!
Instagram Surfing
Take two, the magic washable pee-pads that all over Instagram. The ones that supposedly work in shelters with no training needed? Pet’s just magically KNOW what they are for?? No more messes anywhere but the pee pad. Here is MY take.
The Truth About Washable Pee Pads
Let me start with telling you that my Mom is a shopaholic when it comes to me. Mom has been spoiling me like I’m the most special boy in the world. (Which of course I am!)
So, when Mom saw these washable, PottyBuddy puppy pads, she believed the hype. She bought three, one for each floor. She was so happy! She knew this was the MIRACLE ANSWER for those emergencies where I just couldn’t make it outside in time.
Did The Washable Pee Pads Work?
Sure, maybe for OTHER dogs. Personally, I like to walk over them. I like to stare at them while I pee, from across the room.

I like to pile all my toys on them. It’s much easier than digging them from my puppy toy crate.
Mom thought she could outsmart me and move the washable pee pad to where I had pee’d. Silly Mom.
She started keeping the pee pad in just one spot, that didn’t work either. Instead I would walk over it and pee elsewhere. Mom did give me a carrot to eat and being the polite boy that I am I took the carrot and shredded it on the pee pad. It was much less messy for my Mom.
Potty Training Is NOT For The Weak
Mom takes me out every hour. (Mom’s looking haggard) Mom takes me out 10 minutes after meals. Mom’s read books, followed Instagram influencers, Mom has yelled. LIKE A LOT!!
Mom added bells to the door that she shakes like a crazy woman everytime we go outside and chants potty, potty, potty. She’s nuts I tell ya!
I did have a 4 day stretch of no accidents. That seemed like a streak that should be broken. Which I did. I like to keep Mom on her toes.
Bottom Line
Mom and I both agree. These washable pee pads are a solid PASS!!
