Borrego Springs Wildflower Trip 2017

While the desert wild flowers in the quaint town of Borrego Springs California in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park are spectacular to see we found our favorite attractions to be the FULL SIZE metal sculptures scattered through the desert. They are AMAZING and awe-inspiring. The metal sculptures are HUGE! 130 full-sized creatures that are inspired by creatures that roamed the area millions of years ago.
When we happened upon the first sculpture it was quite by accident. The first was this pre-historic looking bird, with details so amazing I had to touch it to see what it was made of. The feathers look SO REAL!!

Check out the size!!
Then there’s the 350 FOOT serpent! I swear the details are so amazing you will want to physically touch the serpent just to check that it’s metal! what it was made of! The rest of the serpent is on the other side of the road. It’s spectacular!! I couldn’t get a great shot of the entire thing because a camper parked between the two on the side of the road. (rude!!)

Aren’t the details amazing?

There are several turn offs that you can drive through to see all the sculptures. We made it to about 50 or so, I can’t wait to go back and see more. Maybe when it isn’t 112º and we have a cranky 5-year-old in tow.

Dennis Avery, the late land owner of Galleta Meadows Estates show cases all original steel welded ‘free standing art’ on his property that was created by ‘Perris Jurassic Park’ owner/artist/welder Ricardo Breceda who is based in Perris, California.

There are over 130 metal sculptures located in Borrego Springs and 100% worth the drive!! My next day trip?
