How Can Different Weather Conditions Damage Your Home?

Damage to your home can be unsightly; it can also be dangerous if the structural integrity of your property is threatened. Weather is something that we all live with on a day to day basis; it’s also something that can cause significant damage to your home. This damage can occur in a short space of time, such as during a storm. It can also occur over a longer period of time, especially if damage is being caused without you being aware of it.

We are going to take a look at some of the ways in which the weather can have a detrimental effect on the condition of your home. It may surprise you how easy it is for damage to occur.

The danger of the wind

Windy weather is something that most of us encounter on a regular basis. This is not a problem if the wind is not that strong. It’s when the strength of the wind increases that problems start. You may find that the wind damages the structure of your roof or causes your gutters to loosen or become detached. You may also find that the wind blows debris against the side of your home causing damage to the paintwork.

Wind could also cause damage to the grounds outside the property, including the fencing around the house. If this occurs, you will need to contact a reputable company like Northland Fence who are rosemount fence contractors who will be able to replace the fence or repair the damage for you.

Problems with rain

Rain is something that we all just get used to and accept but it can have a detrimental effect on the condition of your home, especially over time. When rain falls the moisture can gain access to your home through any cracks or gaps in the exterior. This moisture can gradually cause the wood in the structure of your home to rot. It can also lead to a build-up of mold or mildew in your home.

Even sun can be an issue

You may not realize it, but it’s not just what would normally be classed as bad weather that can damage your home. The power of the sun can cause exterior paintwork to crack or fade over time. It can also cause damage to your interior furnishings, such as carpeting, if you do not have drapes or blinds on the windows of your home.

How to protect your home from the damage caused by weather

We have talked about ways in which the weather can have an adverse effect on the condition of your home. One of the best ways to protect against weather damage is to invest in exterior wall cladding. There are various types of wall cladding available, one of the best of which is Pallside Cladding which is highly durable. If you have cladding fitted to the exterior of your home it not only offers protection against the weather, it also helps to control temperatures in your home and helps to insulate it against exterior noise.

You can see that weather may be causing damage to your property without you even knowing. If you want to protect your home against this damage then you may want to give some serious thought to the idea of exterior wall cladding.

We have exterior wall insulation. It’s a kind of foam that’s injected between the blocks and the rendering. Not only does it keep us warmer and the walls less inclined to damp damage, it’s cut our winter heating bills in half!

oh, boy. This is true. Every season something goes wrong with the house. Last Winter, we got 2 snowstorms within a few days, each one over a foot of snow. The gutters were falling off from the weight of the snow, lol.

I can tell you first hand how wood siding can be effected by weather. We also have asbestos siding on our home. Which no one wants to touch. I would love to see what the Exterior Wall Cladding looks like. Might be an option for us when we get the asbestos removed. Thanks for the info.
