• Fire! The Scariest Word EVER! Fire BAD!

Ougist Dry chemical fire extinguisher because FIRE BAD

Unless you are new here, you know I live on a mountain just outside of Sandpoint, Idaho. Fire is the word that terrifies me the most. There is one road serving our little piece of heaven. One windy dirt road, not a fast road. No, it’s a pot-holed, privately maintained road. Our home, circled in blue, is surrounded by trees: tons, and TONS of trees. I’m Not Kidding When I Say FIRE BAD! Fire safety is something that I hadn’t really THOUGHT about before moving here. Living in Southern California and having a fire station 1 mile away, pffftttt what’s to stress over? Yes, we kept a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. NOT just because I announced to the family, ‘dinner’s ready’ with a smoke-filled room. But, because I AM a responsible parent. I taught my children about fire safety. We even practiced fire drills. SEE??? I was a RESPONSIBLE parent. Thankfully, we never had any accidents. Here? Well, I am worried. It’s a scary world out there. People start fires just to watch ’em burn. (Seriously, WHAT is WRONG with PEOPLE?!) According to Sandpoint, Idaho Wildfire Map There are 4,032 properties properties in Sandpoint that have some risk of being affected by…

  • Confessions of a Craft Chaos Casualty: When “Alexa, Find My Phone” Becomes Your Mantra

Robotic Arm Magnetic stand Pink Craft Chaos

March, you were an absolute beast, and I am glad you are over. The hardest hit area in the house was my craftroom. Craft chaos is piled everywhere. EVERY. WHERE. Everything just… piled up. Work deadlines, laundry deadlines (let’s be real, those are always there), actual physical piles of stuff… it was a deluge. One thing after another, like a relentless tide of obligations and forgotten coffee mugs, lost glasses and my missing phone. Now, April? April is going to be different. I have declared it! April is the month I get out of my own way. The month I purge, organize, and finally, finally reclaim my craft space and my sanity. I can’t CREATE in this CHAOS!! Step One Of Operation Reclaim Sanity: Clean up the craftroom. This has been a goal of mine way too many times, right? A beautifully simple, inspiring, blog-post-worthy goal. “Here is my sparkling clean crafting sanctuary, full of organized glitter and prioritized ribbon!” Ahhh in my head I see pictures with twinkles that prove it’s so clean! It sparkles. Except… this is the craftroom. This is the place where good intentions go to die under an avalanche of fabric scraps and half-finished projects.…

I took a small clipping off when we moved to Idaho. I gave the huge cactus to my daughter-in-law, Amber. Her house is alive with plants. I knew she would be the perfect person to keep The GG Cactus alive. Now?? That cactus is spectacular. These cactus cut-offs have been given to SO many families in Southern California, it’s insane. Each plant has blossomed to HUGE plants. Meanwhile The GG Cactus in my house is the SAME EXACT…
