How To Get Your Business Known

What is the point in having a business if no ones knows it’s there? You won’t be serving anyone, and you won’t be making any money. However, when you first start out, you need to get known, and you need to get known quick so that people learn how great you are and tell more and more people and your business can grow. 

Develop Relationships With The Press 

Make sure you get to know the local press and tell them about your business and what you’re doing. It pays to take them out or invite them to an exclusive event to get to know them and build relationships. Make sure you get the right contacts and send out regular press releases to local and industry media publications. It is also very beneficial for you to make yourself available to the press and let them know that you are an expert in your field. Sign up to a service like Press Quest, which can link you with reporters when they are looking for advice or quotes when writing a story. This is a great way to get noticed in your industry and to drive customers towards your business. 

Contribute Guest Content 

Local business publications have shifted their focus to online, which means that they are always on the lookout for great content related to local business. This is great for you as it means you can showcase your expertise as a guest contributor, and if you are an expert in a specific area, you may even be able to get a regular column.

Enter Awards

Local business publications and other local organizations have annual awards which they are always looking for businesses to enter. You can use these awards get lots of press if you win but even for a nomination. Have a look online and find some awards which are a good fit for your company, then nominate yourself. You’ve got to be in it to win it. 

Go To Events

While you’ve probably already thought of going to networking events, it is important not just to go to any, but go to the right ones for you and your business. Your time is precious, so only attend only the networking events that are going to allow you to meet your target audience. As well as networking, go to industry shows and make sure you have a convention exhibit to show your audience what you’re all about. 

Love Your Customers

If you do everything that you can for your customers and please them, then life will be a dream as they will refer you to other people and you’ll have an ongoing stream of their friends and family as your next customers. Continue to communicate with and educate your customers after the initial sale and take the time to follow up and learn if they need anything else from you. It’s also a good idea to shower your customers with appreciation, for example, you could surprise them with a birthday card, send hand-written thank you notes or invite them to events.
