How to Wear Heels if You Think You Can’t Wear Heels

Mother always said to wear sensible shoes, and while this is good advice for hiking, running, or a day at the zoo, it’s not great advice for date night, girls’ night, or even some workplace settings. High Heels are a staple component of our style society, and they’re not going anywhere. Some believe the height and posture they give a woman are both sexy and sophisticated, and there will be times in your adult life when you will need that edge. Heels don’t have to be uncomfortable. You just need to know where to shop and how to wear them.

High-Quality Are Best

It’s best to invest in some brand name shoes, especially starting off, because these shoes are well-made and will last a long, long time. They have extra padding to support your feet where they need to be supported. You can also invest in some that have a bit of a platform at the front of the shoe, so the front of your foot will be lifted in addition to the back, alleviating the severity of the foot angle as you stand and walk. Also, as a rule of thumb, people with smaller feet should choose a shorter heel. If the heel is too high, your foot will be at a much more severe angle than someone with larger feet, causing you more difficulty walking normally. If you typically can’t afford brand name shoes, shop sales, or get promotional codes here at Sidepon.com.

Inserts

Inexpensive inserts are available at many stores. You can get some to further cushion the ball of your foot, and even pieces you can put in the back of the shoe to prevent them from slipping off your heel as you’re walking. Invest in a few sets and adorn the insides of your shoes with these little gems. These are especially great if you’re going to be going to an event such as a wedding where you’ll be on your feet and dancing throughout the evening.

Practice

Before your event, practice walking in your heels. Walk on different terrains, such as outside on the uneven sidewalk, up and down stairs, on carpet, and on linoleum. This may seem silly, but it’s pretty important, because if you don’t feel confident walking in your shoes, it will show on your face, and be extremely evident in your gait. Walking in heels is different than walking in flats. Instead of putting your heel first when you take a step, you have to focus on stepping evenly on the front and back of your foot at the same time. If you can master this, you can work your way up to any heel height.

I haven’t been wearing heels ever since I hurt my back during a yoga session. But I love heels and I agree with Ann – they totally change the way a woman walks!

Thanks for the helpful tips! Maybe I should start wearing them again but certainly not those ridiculously high ones!

Interesting information about wearing heels . Things I never thought of. I never wore a high heels always about a 2 inch one.I do think ladies walk totally different in heels. I honestly dont know how some of them walk in them. Not every one can walk in them and look good doing it. I would wear flat shoes and feel secure of my footing at my age.

I like walking in flats…these days, I feel about crippled wearing heels. Maybe good inserts would do me good.
