Let’s see, should I just start this post with a whine? Firmoo would probably say NO!! But, I am a rebel so, YES, I believe I should!! I’m often whining about aging. I should just have a rotating banner that says “Getting older is NOT for SISSY’S!!” I should rename my blog Aging and Whining! Hummmmm that’s a thought.

Along with all of the other complaints I have, eyesight is another!!  Oh sure, if I squint and put the print to my nose, I can make out a few words. Up until Alice was born, I worked for an optometrist, one awesome perk was a new pair of glasses every year. Ahhhh, those were the days.

Now that I have to pay for my own, well, let’s just say my glasses are OLD! Ummm 3 years old! My vision is also 3 years worse. I’m getting a kink in my neck from trying to use the bottom part of my progressive lenses!

Ordering New Prescription Glasses From Firmoo!!

I was thrilled to be contacted by Firmoo, a GLOBAL online optical store! Frames for PAGES and pages!! Men, women, children. Prescription glasses and sunglasses too!  It took me two days of frame shopping to narrow down my decision. Picking the perfect frame was the hardest part of the entire process! Firmoo makes ordering glasses SO VERY easy!!

When you first open the Firmoo Site, you can begin narrowing down to men, women, sunglasses, and reading glasses. Make your category choice, and then the fun starts!! Sort by the shape you like, the material you like. Do you want a metal frame? Plastic? No frame? Do you want a full frame? No frame on the bottom. You really can hone in on what you are looking for!

By using my computer webcam, I was able to take a photograph of myself and try on glasses. IN my PJ’s on my COUCH!! Super easy!! S-U-P-E-R easy!

I picked out the perfect frame for my face. Called the optometrist and asked for my prescription to be read to me over the phone, along with my PD’s.  If they give you the RX as OD and OS. Just remember this OD is right. As in the DOCTOR is always right. : )  See?? 12 years taught me a couple of things!!

Single vision lenses are FREE with the purchase of the frame!! What’s awesome about Firmoo is that if your prescription won’t work in that particular frame, a pop up window tells you to pick a new frame!! Or have the option of adding $10 for a different lens material. I highly recommend that, you’ll be happier with the optics!

Next up. Lenses. Since I just wanted a single vision lens for the computer 1.57 index lens is perfect! Nice and thin and light!!

Next up, add your treatments. Do you want a tint? Photochromic?Which means they get dark outside and are clear inside. If you order sunglasses, do you want polarized lenses? I HIGHLY recommend polarized lenses!

If you have ever tried on a pair, it will be a requirement for you, too! Do you want anti-glare? If you are using a computer with your new glasses, this is a MUST!! I promise your eyes will feel less tired!!  UV coating? Anti-scratch is included. HOORAY!! Now don’t forget, anti-scratch doesn’t mean they won’t scratch, they won’t scratch as easily!! I’m super hard on glasses, so I wouldn’t consider ordering glasses without this!!

Sit Back and Wait

Now, one of my favorite parts!! In less than 8 days, my glasses arrived at MY door. I didn’t have to drive to the optometrist. My glasses came to ME!! By using my webcam my new frame fit me to PERFECTION!! I’m seeing clearly. Crystal clear!! These are the perfect frames for me!! The glasses even arrived with a hard-shell eyeglass case! It’s cool looking too!!

The frame I picked out feels like wood. REAL wood! I’m sure it’s probably a plastic, but the folks at Firmoo would have a hard time convincing me these aren’t real wood. These fit my nose perfectly. The temples (arms of the frame) are perfect, too.

If you already wear glasses and like the fit of your current pair, look on the inside of the temple (arms) the numbers inside give you the measurements. Imprinted on the temple will be three sets of numbers for instance, 51-15-135.  The 135, 140 etc on one temple is the length of the temple. The other numbers are for the size of the lenses in mm, and then the size of the nose bridge. If you have a small, thin nose, go for a smaller number.  

OR do the super easy way and add your photo to Firmoo.

One last bit of advice.

Never take your glasses off with one hand. It’s a hard habit to break. But, taking them off with on hand enough times, you’ll need them adjusted to make sure you have a clear vision! If you wear glasses all of the time, you know exactly what I am talking about.
