The Alphabet Of Bugs An ABC Book

Do you have a bug lover at your house? The Alphabet Of Bugs; An ABC Book is the book for you! Who knew bugs could be so pretty? Who knew I couldn’t pronounce so many words?? Valerie Gates rhyming descriptions are combined with Ann Cutting’s stunning photographs shows a huge array of all kinds of bugs. Each letter of the alphabet shows a bug along with a tongue twister summary of each bug and the color of the page that the bug is on. What a great way to introduce colors, bugs and descriptions.

Here is a great example; the letter U is for Ulysses Butterfly unveils ultra underlay upon Ube. The page has a beautiful photograph of the Ulysses Butterfly to go with the line. While the pictures are gorgeous most of the words are hard to pronounce and tons of them I had to go look up in the dictionary.

Do you know what a Chrysina resplendens or a Papilionidae butterfly looks like? Travel through the alphabet with The Alphabet of Bugs to learn about the many beautiful and unusually named bugs found in nature—and brush up on those ABCs as well! Valerie Gates’s charming alliterative style paired with Ann Cutting’s stunning photographs of all types of bugs is sure to delight curious children and adults alike.

Children who already know their basic bugs will broaden their horizons, and parents who are tired of simple butterflies and beetles will find this book worth rereading. Spectacular photographs of insects of all kinds will inspire children to learn more about the different creatures found in the natural world. And while children learn about bugs, they are also learning the alphabet through silly sentences. This is an ideal gift for new parents and for young nature-loving children!

Another interesting part of the book is in the back; titled Did You Know…. Glossary
For instance did you know…… Owl Wing Butterflies are very l large and can have a wing span of eight inches!! That’s a BIG butterfly!!

Alice loves this book. I think some of the reason she loves the book is hearing The NaNa stutter over some a lot of the words which are too hard for a 3 to 5-year-old to understand let alone read. The pictures are truly beautiful and several of them I’ve never seen before; which is really cool!! So, as a picture book this is awesome. Reading? You are going to have to grab a grown up.
