The Remodel Begins!!
It seems like forever that I’ve been waiting for a project……… ANY project to start!! So many things that have been ordered but nothing started for this remodel! Today we have officially started!!!!!
- Outdoor Siding
New Windows- Garage Doors
- New Kitchen
- Carpeting
- Craft-room remodeling
- Garden
- New doors
*Inside
*Outside
Today though!!! I have windows!! Beautiful double pane windows at that.
I tried to stay out of the way as much as possible but since I’ve never seen windows put in and I wanted to share pictures with you. I’ve also started a photo book of ‘The House’. I figure this will be the last house I’ll ever live in soooooo why not do a photo book documenting the remodel as it happens, right??
First, I had no idea that everything happens from outside. The old windows are pulled off and new windows screwed in from outside. I don’t know why I found that so interesting but I did.
I learned that the people that built this house didn’t do anything to code. Windows were attached to the house with 4 screws each. Now; I have HUGE windows!! 4 screws….. mean that we have (and did) have leaks. That’s why there was water on the window ledge and a lot of dry rot around the windows. Ewwwwwww!! New windows are held in with 20 plus screws.
The picture on top was from the master-bedroom. Ummmm ewwwwwwwwww (that’s my official word of the month. ewwwwwwwwwwwww)
I learned that we have an awful lot of windows!! A LOT of windows!! 29 to be precise. Wait……. who is washing all these things?!? Do you think the install guys do that?? Probably not huh?? Dammmmn it.
At least all the icky wood and stuff gets hauled away everyday. That’s at least a very good thing cause…….. again I say ewwwwww…….
The following pictures are from the family room kitchen area.
Above is the before picture.
I also learned that the stink bugs like to burrow into the corners. There were TONS and TONS of bugs nestled in the corners. Thankfully, they were dead bug .. but bugs all the same. And add another ewwwwwwwwwwww.
Also, windows are heavy. Like REALLY heavy!!
Kinda gross huh?? Good thing that the siding guys start soon. Although I think the siding guys are going to REALLY have their work cut out for them.
I hadn’t realized how foggy the old windows were. New windows make a HUGE difference!!
Wouldn’t you know it…… today I woke up with my first migraine in months. Yup, 4 workers, 4 saws, hammers, drills and pounding and a migraine. Oh well, I have beautiful windows!!
Next up……….. inside doors!!

A siding job is not something that you can start and then finish as your own leisure. Once you have torn up the old structure, you only have a few days to make sure that you get the job completed.

29 windows to wash? Oh Connie, I guess living in Paradise has it’s drawbacks!
