Time For The $50 Your Way Giveaway April 2025

It’s time for my monthly $50 YOUR Way Giveaway. If you are new here, you choose how you want your prize. PayPal, Venmo, or Gift Card.

Also, if you are new here; this first little bit is my ‘catch-up’ of what has happened on The Mountain for the previous month. So…… March was WEIRD weather-wise. We had snow that would melt before morning. LOTs of rain. IN IDAHO, ON A MOUNTAIN I have NO SNOW?! None? Again I have to say WEIRDEST WINTER EVER!

Health wise; the surgery on my right hand and forearm went well (scars are gnarly! Wanna see??) Except, I don’t think that was the fix. Because (here comes the whine….) the pain continues. I still feel like I rolled my arms in fiberglass. Doctor Google here (me!) just doesn’t know where or what to try next. The REAL doctor is also stumped. I could really use some strength back in my hands that’s for sure. Oh well, enough whining. ON with the GIVEAWAY!!

I spent hours trying to ut together a little shelf I bought on Amazon, lol. I hate those little ‘L’ shaped screwdrivers they put in those things! So useless!

It has been a long day. Have not done much, a little of this and some of that.

Some crafting, some reading, some computer work

I have to do some running around today. I’m still a little chapped about my doctor’s appointment yesterday. I was told that I should only be there for 40 minutes. Well, I got there at 8:40am my appointment time was 9:00am they quickly put me in the “little room” and I sat in there with no water, food or even a magazine until the doctor strolled in at 11:00 AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I had an attitude then he got an attitue so then I explained in great detail WHY I had an attitude after being in there for HOURS!!!! Things turned out just so so in the end not sure if I will go back yet or not. When I get THAT pissed off it’s hard for me to get over it but I will try.

It must have been the day for WAITING. My apointment was for 8:45 I got there and checked in & paided at 8:15

At 9:15 I was back at the first desk wanting to know if I had been forgotten. After they checked yea she paid. we will check with them. Lets just say the student that came to get me at almost 9:30 got a little kicking……………… Found out from head/teacher dentist later that reception forgot to push the button on my name. Turns out they forgot on 3 of us.

      SOME DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a lovely walk yesterday and did wind up at home goods where I bought a large burgundy candle and some Easter colored tapers for the table then of course next door to the Dollar Tree! I did go a bit nuts with seeds 4 for $1 and grow pots, dish towels and oven mitts Easter themed , face scrubs ,butgundy votive candles…Could not pass up a clear plastic crystal look tray…walked back home and was very happy with my haul…today getting ready for dinner guests this evening….

The first of January I cracked a front tooth and they could not save it so had to have it pulled. Off to the WVU student dental clinic this morning. My apointment was at 8:45 and be there 15 minutes early. So I was there about 8:20 and signed in and paid. I waited and waited, students came out and never called my name. So back to the front desk to find out if I had been forgotten. They checked and we will let them know.

So I got a student at 9:25 and I let him know my apointment was 8:45. I found out later from the head dentist the desk forgot to press the button by my name so they didn’t know I was there. They also didn’t do it for 2 others.

The dental school is cheaper then a regular dentist (they say) I paid almost $400 for full mouth xrays and dental assement.

Came home and took a long nap

I haven’t been flying in ages, and I get sooo nervous. I’d say have a tranquilizer, if doctors still give them as prescriptions for something like that. Or have a good movie lined up, or sit next to a really cute guy!!! And wear you new fragrance to captivate him.

  • Rose

I went to the mall today, the first time in years. It was a goof-off day, so my mission was to sniff fragrances. Every store that had fragrance I tried them out. I had seen many of them online, and trying them in the store they can be different than how you imagined them. I didn’t get anything, but have ideas. After you have sniffed too many, I could only tell for sure if I didn’t like one, but many I do like enough to need to go back!! What is a fresh, sweet fragrance that doesn’t have those drydowns of musk or patchouli…. that I’m sniffing around for, esp I was thinking something with rose and/or violet.

the day is going well. lots of activity next door with the construction as the weather is lovely. heading out with my list for some groceries. enjoy your day and weekend. thanks

  • Tamra Phelps

Rain, rain, rain. That’s bbeen the last three days. And storms. Well, that’s the price we pay for warmer weather, I guess.

  • heather

I have a doctor’s appointment this morning. I am meeting a new Primary Care Physician because my last one suddenly quit. I am a little nervous and can’t wait til it’s over.

  • Michele Soyer

Gloria this place truly feels like home – maybe Corfu was just a dream and for vacations only….Today I need a walk! it is 28 outside so boots etc…Believe it or not i will probably make a stop att he Dollar Tree again! they have the prettiest Easter kitchen towels that are of a pretty good quality…

  • Tamra Phelps

The situation here last night was similar to Gloria’s. Tornado warnings and storms all night. I live in an apartment, there is no basement and I’m not getting up to wheel into the bathroom, so I just leave it to fate, I guess.

    • gloria patterson

Tamra I do like you. That just sounded like me. I am right beside a window so I just covered my head. 15 minutes or so I just got up and started my day…………… L O L

  • l p

the day is going well. woke up to sunshine so that helps things warm up sooner. got to my appointment only to find it had to be cancelled as the practicioner woke up ill. don’t have a cell phone so they couldn’t notify me while I was on my way. got some extra steps in and lots of fresh air so that’s always a win. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

My day started at 4:45 am when the phone alert went off……………… tornado warnings
AND NO I didn’t go back to sleep. BUT there is nothing I can do. I live in a 10 story building.

Off to have my car service I had a light coming on ever time I go round a curve. I was in the waiting room with 2 ladies and husband in the corner. One woman TOLD everthing that went back years. The other lady and her husband were there because the dealership told them they did a repair…. BUT.

I got off lucky I thought it was going to be one tire or maybe 2 needing replaced.
But it was bad sensor $112. later

Stopped at dollar tree picked up a few things……….. then to Little Caesars for a lunch combo.

  • Michele Soyer

All deliveries came already and everything is put away….Another very nice thing occured.. one of the ladies that I met the other night happens to be a singer.. she invited us to come to her next gig – it will be before Easter…I believe it is a club of some sort – she does jazz and country strange mix huh..LOL
Right now since my daughter installed the sound bar and I am doing nothing but sitting and listening to all my Peabo Bryson cd’s…remembering when we saw him both in NYC and Trinidad too! wen I sam done with him I will move on to Regina Belle a REALLY lazy day…Lunch will be quick lentils with spinach and brown and wild rice…and yes Gloria a single malt..LOL

  • Tamra Phelps

We are expecting bad weather over the next few days–storms, tornado watches. In other words, Spring in KY. Other than that, it’s been business as usual around here.

  • l p

the day is going well. got a phone call to offer an appointment d/t a cancellation. I took it, even though it’s last minute and I had to shuffle the schedule as I’ve been waiting for one for quite some time and was booked for the end of June. fingers crossed the weather will cooperate. enjoy your day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

Sun is shinning but it is calling for lots of rain. Spring is here flowering trees in bloom, daffys up everwhere. They will be starting to cut grass soon.

Doing nothing today……. had not been out of my apartment so far.

Working on a couple of craft things. It is so nice to be able just leave everthing out, and just work on it when I want to.

Some computer stuff, reading (always got a book going) I like paper books. I can read on my ipad but just don’t really enjoy it as much………….. STRANGE

And I just might take a nap later………………..

2n TRAVEL TIP —- TAKE OLD CLOTHES

15+ YRS AGO my sister got to go on a paid for trip to mult countries. She knew that she would be buying lots of stuff on the trip…

She packed a large suitcase full of OLD clothes. At the end of each day she would throw most of what she had wore in the trash.

She ended her trip with a full suitcase of stuff she bought on that trip. And almost all of her clothes were still in some other country.

  • Michele Soyer

It snowed all day yesterday and it is so pretty outside…a neighbor invited us over for a drink last night and we met many other people at the get together….our circle is widening and that makes me smile…getting ready to make my grocery and wine orders to be delivered tomorrow – Saturday evening having a small dinner party…

  • Michele Soyer

My best travel tip….no matter what the airlines says leave early! one never knows what chaos can happen at the airport at any time…also check in as early as the airline allows on your phone …

  • heather

I woke to learn that Val Kilmer passed away last night. I loved him! He was so brilliant as Doc Holiday in the movie Tombstone. Oh and of course as Iceman! Really bummed me out this morning. Have a good day.

  • Elizabeth

I like reserving books at the library before I arrive (if I’m going somewhere where I hold a card) so I don’t have to take reading material with me!

  • Natalie

My best travel tip is to use the Google Translate app on your phone if visiting a foreign country. It can translate voice or text!

  • l p

re travel tips – my Mother loved to take pictures with her camera while on trips. whenever she took a picture, she would dictate a note about where she was and why the picture was taken. when she got home, she made wonderful scrapbooks of the trips. now I love to look at them and hear her voice. thanks

  • l p

the day is going well. it’s a warm, sunny day so there’s lots of activity around. made muffins for neighbours and will join them for tea soon. Connie – I’m so sorry to hear the surgery hasn’t been all that helpful. fingers crossed that some magic appears for you soon. enjoy the day. thanks

  • gloria patterson

    “Your best travel tip?”

LESS IS MORE!! Use the smallest suitcase you can. Have compression bags for all stuff in suitcase. YOU don’t need 5 tops you can hand wash and dry overnight. 2 pairs of shoes, hat, some type of jacket, shoulder purse.

I have been looking at the compress back packs that would hold a lot. Of course you know about having spare chargers cause you are going to be taking pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!

It might be nice to also have “Drawstring backpack” ( amazon) could be in your purse or pocket and you buy stuff pull the backpack out and put the stuff in easy to carry.

On plane I am one of those people that go to sleep even thou I have a book. But you might be to busy talking to sleep or anything else.

  • Tamra Phelps

Travel tip, huh? For me it would be don’t leave anything to chance, lol. I’m a control freak. I plan things out and try to take in to consideration anything that could go wrong. Does it help, nah, probably not. I would say make a list of what you need and gather everything before the day you leave, lol. That way you don’t wind up in NY and without clean underwear or a toothbrush.

  • gloria patterson

WOW I though something was wrong with the form. I am the SECOND person to comment!!

Have not done much today. Had a hungry for tuna melt so made tuna fish and had a couple of slices of sour dough bread left………………… SO SO GOOD!

Some computer does and finished up a new book. The problem with a new book (JD Robb) is I read it to fast. Couple of weeks and I will go back and read it again.

Now I have to decide what is next in my read. I am a mixed reader of everything.

  • Tamra Phelps

Dang, I’m sorry your surgery didn’t really help the pain. I have pain in my hands caused by the med I take for the DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ)–so I tolerate it but sometimes it gets bad. I know how it just ruins your day, how you feel like you can’t do the simplest things anymore. It stinks.

  • Heather

My best travel tip is to take things that will keep you occupied like books, magazines, portable dvd player and headphones.

  • heather

Happy April Fools Day! Be careful out there today. I am doing stuff around the house today I did my running around yesterday. I may make a trip to the library a little later.
