When I get to my daughters house in the mornings to babysit Alice, she is usually still asleep. It’s the perfect time to use my Verilux Happy Light lamp. I turn it on and answer emails, work on my blog, enter a few giveaways. By the time Alice wakes up, I’m in a better mood and definitely more productive. I can tell a huge difference in the amount of activities that Alice and I do during the day. I have more pep, energy and I’m HAPPIER the days I use my Happy Lamp!! Just by sitting in front of a lamp!! WHO knew?!?!?
The Verilux Lamp is really super easy to use, because you don’t have to do ANYTHING!! Simply sit or work near your Verilux Light. I turn it on while I’m working on my computer and approximately 6″ from my face. The Verilux’s bright light mimics natural outdoor light.
According to the manual you should preform a pretest to determine if you have a sensitivity to light treatment. None for me! YEAH!!! One more word of caution; because the light contains magnets you’ll want to stay further away if you have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator, insulin pump or other type of electro-mechanical device, or brain shunts that contain magnets. There are also certain drugs that may cause you to have light sensitivity.
How to use:
SUPER EASY!!! The Happy Light needs to sit on a flat surface above, at or below eye level. It needs to be anywhere from 6″ – 24″ of your face. It might be necessary to use the light’s tilt feature to receive the desired result. The HappyLight can be hung on a wall too. Don’t look directly into the light. Your eyes must be open to achieve full benefit; in other words, no you can’t take a nap or do this at night. Tinted glasses will reduce the light’s effectiveness, so clear or no glasses!!
A broad field of up to 10,000 LUX* of light provides a more flexible program, allowing you to be farther from the lamp and to move around more freely during use.
If you ever experience edginess or are over-stimulated, move the light farther away or reduce session times. As I said, I use mine in the mornings. Usually for about an hour. Using the Happy Light really does make a difference in my mood and productivity!!!!
