The Advantage of Age!
Getting older has it’s advantages and of course it’s disadvantages as well. The advantage of age far out weigh the disadvantages. I mean, hello the alternative is well….. I’d like to hold off please.
I find that I’m starting to care less and less what other people think of me. Really, my husband loves me. My kids love me. Alice adores me (she really belongs first on the list, I mean hello…… she is the cutest Grandkid a NaNa could ever have!!). You guys are here for me with friendship and support. Everyone else? Well, ehhhhh, I’m finding it easier and easier not to care.
Another perk is that I don’t have to color my hair anymore. Although, seriously I waffle on that almost daily. I am sooooooo tempted to go red again. Maybe that wasn’t a great advantage to pull up. Let’s continue on……
I’m retired. Okay, that should have been first on the list. I wake up when I want and go to bed when I want. (yeah, yeah, yeah it’s still 9pm but I COULD stay up later if I wanted too). I don’t have to clock in anywhere. If I don’t want to do anything except binge watch Netflix, I CAN!!)
While menopause sucks with the hot flashes, night sweats and extra age spots; at least I don’t have a period anymore!! Again, not the best example either because when I am in a full blown hot flash mode I wish I could turn back time and have a period instead!! Then all I would have to do is grab a fresh pair of Knixteen oh-no proof underwear instead of a fan, towel and a lighter weight outfit.
That is my #1 tip for women at the start of menopause; layers! LOT’s of layers ’cause when that hot flash hits you’ll want to peel off clothing like a mad woman just to cool down. NO matter how cold it is outside!
My disadvantage list is fairly short. Eye-site. Now I understand why my Mom had 19 pairs of glasses hidden throughout her apartment! I can’t read! I also can’t FIND my glasses half the time! Most times they are on the top of my head which leads me to the next disadvantage.
Memory. OH. MY. GOSH. Wait…. where was I going with this??
So? What do you find the best part of aging?! Or even the worst part?

I love the senior discounts you can get at places you eat and shop.

The best part for me is no longer giving a flying fiddler’s f*** what others think about me! Of course that could just be that I no longer have the energy to care, which is the worst, along with the aches & pains. I don’t remember anyone sitting me down to explain that when you’re a grown-up it hurts!

Isn’t that the truth? Why does no one sit you down and say “Stay active” or you will have to make that NOISE when you stand up …. that ughhhh grunt noise. LOL!!
