BareBaby Organics Premium Moisturizing Lotion Review

BareBaby

I am really excited about today’s review for a couple of reasons, first being this is a great product! BareBaby Organics Premium Moisturizing Lotion makes my ‘not a baby’ skin super soft. The second reason is Kim and her husband Kent the creators of BareBaby are local to me! Kim and I share the same amazing Hair Stylist Deborah Bacon. (ya’know the occasional guest blogger here on Peanut Butter and Whine) How cool is that? (or is it just cool to me? I get easily excited about 2 degrees of separation type stuff!)

Barebaby3So, why would Kim & Kent create a line of baby skin care products when there are already so many on the market?  The easy answer is their own kids! After the kids arrived they began using what they thought of as organic or natural skin care products. After reading the ingredients in some of these products Kent, whose background is in chemistry, triggered a need to research these products more in depth. One great resource they used is EWG’s Skin Deep Database. This site scores both products and individual ingredients on a scale from 1-10, with 1 being the least hazardous and 10 being the most toxic. Some products that have fancy organic sounding names don’t contain a single organic ingredient. I searched the baby/mommy tab and WOW some of the baby products that I use and have used have a very high (WAY TOO high!) score.

That research led Kim and Kent to create BareBaby Organics. A lotion that is as organic, natural, and safe as possible. One where every single ingredient scores a 1 on the Skin Deep Database, meaning it is rated as non-toxic as can be. And one where every ingredient meets Whole Foods’ strict Premium Body Standards. We started with aloe leaf juice. The aloe plant is a skin care superstar, containing over 200 nutritional substances, including 20 minerals, 20 amino acids, 12 vitamins, and active enzymes. Because aloe is so rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, E, choline, and folic acid, it’s great at protecting skin from dangerous free radicals. It soothes skin, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and also protects the skin against UV damage.

imageThey weren’t done there; soothing oils like coconut, olive, avocado, and grapeseed were added, shea butter for it’s moisturizing attributes (also rich is vitamin A, E and F) . These are natural moisturizers with a combination of anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. All good things for healthy skin! Shea butter was added for its skin-conditioning and moisturizing attributes; not to mention it’s rich in vitamins A, E, and F! More beneficial plant-based extracts were also added: calendula, giant kelp, chamomile, jojoba, rosemary, and others. Each one of those ingredients have specific benefits for the skin. All of this combined means you have the safest most non-toxic as possible line of baby products. 100% organic!

The lotion absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or tacky. My dry skin feels moisturized and SOFT!! I love this lotion for what’s in it as well as what isn’t. No more dry itchy skin for me!! I LOVE this stuff!!

Thank you SO much for your kinds words, Connie! It’s so gratifying to know that others are enjoying our lotion and believe in us. 🙂 It’s still hard to believe that I’ve gone from a stay-at-home mommy trying to find a baby lotion I could trust for my little ones, to starting a baby skin care product with my hubby! And now our lotion is available to the world. Wow! Thank you again for your support and helping us spread the word. Hopefully we can help many other families be confident in the products they use both for their little ones and themselves. 🙂

I’ve been known to use baby products because they ought to be gentler on the skin, but often they have ingredients just as harsh as the worst adult skin care lines. I love the fact that this is really organic! I would definitely try it!

This sounds so soothing I can feel my headache easing just thinking about it! Way too many companies jump on the organic wagon but don’t forget that every single ingredient has to be proven organic in order for it to be properly labelled. Here in Europe there are extremely tough labelling laws that prohibit this but some still manage to filter through.
