We have another adorable story from SkyPony Press to tell you about today! This is How The Crayons Saved The Rainbow written by Monica Sweeney and Illustrated by Feronia Parker Thomas.
How The Crayons Saved The Rainbow is a story about best friends. The Sun and The Clouds have been best friends forEVER and have made the grass green, the flowers colorful and they made rainbows together! After the fight they each go to their side of the sky. So, when the clouds are out it’s cold, wet and windy. When the sun is out it’s just hot, dry and miserable. As a result the colors start to fade all over the world.
That is until one abandoned box of crayons fall out of their box and set out on a quest to color the world.
Starting out small the crayons color rainbows everywhere, but as curious as The Sun and The Clouds are they still aren’t talking. The crayons decide to make one HUGE rainbow, one that goes across the entire sky.
This is an awesome book to teach children about the importance of friendship, teamwork and perseverance. If it’s important don’t ever give up!!
The writing is super cute. The story is wonderful to follow. The illustrations are so dang cute!! I especially love that they make 4-year-old Alice laugh!
The Sun and Clouds no longer and then stop talking to each other? Their lives go on but it may not seem like their The Sun and the Clouds are best friends. Together they keep the world warm, the gardens growing, and the sky full of beautiful rainbows. But one day they get into a fight and refuse to be in the sky together. And that means there are no longer any rainbows. Without rainbows, the colors start disappearing until Earth was left with no color … except for one little forgotten box of crayons in one little school desk.
Determined to save the rainbows and fix the Sun and Clouds’ friendship, the crayons draw rainbows all over town. Their attempts go unnoticed. Soon they realize that they’re going to have to do something big to get the attention of the former friends. So, the crayons create the biggest rainbow they can and hope it’s enough to bring color back to the world.
How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow teaches the importance of teamwork and perseverance through seven crayons with unique personalities and their desire to see the world in color.
