Gerome Sticks His Neck Out Review
Are you prepared for another 5-year-old Alice book review? Ya know.. the kind of book review that has spoilers galore. Alice just can’t help herself.
You know that Alice and I love children’s books. It’s an amazing thing to watch, Alice getting lost in a good story. I’ve told you before that she would rather read than watch television and that is AMAZING to me!! Now Alice and her Momma (my daughter Selena) have a night-time ritual of cuddling up in bed and each reading their respective books. How amazing is that?! Alice is 5! A five-year old that enjoys reading and getting lost in a good book!! I love, LOVE, LOVE that!!

This paperback book is from Baxter’s Corner. You can even purchase the set which includes this adorable little stuffed animal. He looks so soft and cuddly!!
Gerome Sticks His Neck Out is a book with wonderful messages. Two that are very important in this day and age. Anti-bullying and self-esteem are the messages in this adorably illustrated, well written book.
Gerome helps kids see the power of standing up to bullies along with embracing who you are!
Gerome is a giraffe and not real crazy about the attention that his height causes. He walks around slouched, trying to keep a low profile.
When Gerome finds a crowd of bullies picking on a smaller classmate Gerome gets to embrace his height!! He finds his voice and learns to stand up to the bullies and makes a friend.
In the back of the book is even more to love! The Go Beyond section. This is a very cool addition to the book. From Giraffe facts like ‘did you know that a giraffes tongue is long enough that they can clean their own ears?!’ Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!?
There are also pages of crafts and a page to take your pledge to stand up to bullies.
Go Beyond has thought-provoking questions and fun learning activities all centered around building character, enhancing social skills and even manners. There are even downloads available for free to go even further. This would be an amazing book for teachers, home-schoolers and kids in general!!

Nope. Not a single one. Cute book. FANTASTIC message! Two thumbs way UP!!
[ReviewDisclaimer]
Updating my blog’s SEO has officially entered the same category as cleaning behind the refrigerator. Necessary. Noble. Slightly horrifying. 🧹✨
Because nothing says “fun afternoon” like opening a five year old post and discovering half the images have vanished, three links lead to businesses that now exist only in memory, and somewhere deep in the code lives a font choice I definitely made during a caffeine spiral.
Welcome to my glamorous life.
Recently, I decided it was time to “freshen things up.” You know, a light polish. A little dusting.
Instead, I uncovered what I can only describe as The Ghost of PBnWhine Past.
This sneaky little phantom floats through my blog at night deleting pictures like a Victorian librarian with a grudge.
“Oh, you liked that step by step craft tutorial with helpful photos?”
Poof. Gone.
“That product review with beautifully staged shots?”
Vanished into the ether.
Now posts look like:
Step 1: Do the thing
Step 2: [image missing]
Step 3: Trust me
Very helpful. Ten out of ten. No notes.
And don’t get me started on the links.
Nothing keeps you humble like clicking a reference and landing on:
Error 404: This business has retired to Florida.
Apparently half the companies I worked with have closed, rebranded, or transformed into something called “Crypto Spoon AI Wellness Collective.” Time is wild.
So here I am, updating old posts like an archaeologist with Wi-Fi. Replacing images. Fixing links. Adding keywords. Whispering sweet nothings to Google like, “Please notice me. I have snacks.”
It’s not glamorous work, but it does make the blog faster, prettier, and easier to find. Which means more crafts, more reviews, more giveaways, and fewer digital tumbleweeds rolling through the pages.

So if you see me muttering at my laptop and chasing imaginary ghosts with a broom made of metadata, just know I’m not losing it.
I’m “optimizing.”
Which is blogger for: battling invisible spirits, resurrecting broken links, and bribing search engines with fresh content.
Totally normal behavior.

Giraffe tongues are really long & purply-grey. One of them pinched my ice-cream when I was little & I’ll never forget the sight of it!

That’s adorable! Heck I think I want that stuffed animal, lol.

What a cute book. The stuffed animal with it is a good idea. This is something my 6-month-old granddaughter would probably like.
