2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Review
Ready to be jealous? I’ve been driving a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport for the last week. This SUV is so sweet!! My mind is going a million miles an hour because there are so many perks that I want to tell you about!! Look here! NO wait… LOOK here! Holy MOLY what to tell you about first?!?!
Starting with, HOW pretty is this SUV!??! Sleek looking! Great lines! The pearl white color is stunning in person!
The Santa Fe Sport is spacious!!! This SUV seats FIVE COMFORTABLY!!
Comfort but more importantly SAFE!! With SEVEN airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, the Santa Fe Sport has more standard airbags than the Chevrolet Equinox.
The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport drives like a dream. The Sport has some ‘get up and GONE’ it’s the perfect balance of horsepower and fuel efficiency!! Excellent gas mileage; like 26 miles to the gallon!! The engine is a 190-hp 2.4L GDI 4-cylinder engine. The Sport has excellent acceleration, power, torque all together with fuel efficiency!! The Santa Fe has DOHC 16-valve with D-CVVT and Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI). Personally, I read blah blah blah blah, because truthfully I don’t know what D-CVVT or DOHC is. I DO KNOW, that acceleration for passing, getting on the freeway and so on is EXCELLENT. The ride is smooth. The comfort is amazing and the gas mileage is AWESOME!!
Steering
LOVE the steering! Seriously! I can use one of 3 modes. Comfort, Normal or Sport. Depending on how you want to ‘feel’ the road. I love the comfort driving home. It’s relaxing. Of course the sport mode is a close second. This is perfect for dual drivers. You really can get everything you want in one automobile.
6-Speed Automatic
Every Santa Fe Sport engine is mated to Hyundai’s 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®. It puts the control in your hands for responsive performance and offers features to help you get more miles out of every gallon of gas. I used the Active ECO System the entire time. I KNOW that’s one reason I got such great gas mileage.
Enough about the engine. Let’s talk about the inside!! I did NOT want to give the Santa Fe Sport back!! From the navigation system to the HANDS FREE Smart Lift Gate. I know the (lift gate) hatch is technically an outside thing, but it’s such a cool feature it deserves extra mention! A ONE touch feature to open OR shut. The best part is with the key fob on your person or purse if you stand behind the Sport the hatch will beep and then the hatch opens without having to touch the car. It’s the COOLEST feature!!! AMAZING for when your hands are full!!
There is plenty of cargo space available to you in the Santa Fe Sport. There is a full 71.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
The front seats are comfortable with great (fully automatic) lumbar support and a super comfortable seat, long rides will be no problem in the Sport! Even the passenger seat is fully automatic! My FAVORITE feature in the front seats is they are not only heated, but air-cooled! I LOVE the cooled seats!! The seats are AMAZING!!
Another thing I already miss about the Sport is the navigation system. The map is crisp, clear and spot on accurate!! There is even an icon that shows you the mph for the road you are on. I LOVE THAT!!! The rear view camera is so crystal clear I swear you could take pictures from it!
More To Love
The front seats, besides being super comfy, have 8-way power driver seat!! Yes, you read that correctly, the seat adjusts 8 WAY’s! Not just that but you can save the adjustments and settings for 2 drivers!! You’ll never have to adjust your seat again!! The seats also use YES Essentials®* stain-resistant cloth. Having kids in the car, this is an awesome feature! I bet a mom invented this material!
The steering wheel is leather wrapped and a pleasure to steer.
The touch screen in the dashboard is HUGE!! Crystal clear picture quality for this back up camera! The screen has everything from your GPS, Radio, Back Up Camera.
USB port! Auxiliary port too. Bluetooth wireless that lets you control everything from the steering wheel!!
Blind spot detection system. OH MAMA is this the coolest perk!!! If you start into the next lane, 2 cars light up in the side mirror and the car beeps at you. There are NO blind spots in this baby!! NONE!!
One touch opens and closes the sunroof. Oh the sunroof!! This might be my favorite perk!! This puppy goes alllllllll the way back the length of the car!! I love the panoramic sunroof so much!!! Research has shown that sunlight and fresh air are good for you. This huge, available panoramic sunroof gives you more of both compared to regular-sized sunroof. Drive healthy.
This is a GREAT automobile!

All in all, this is a fun car to drive. The ride is smooth. The gas mileage is awesome. As long as the car key is on your person, when you touch the door handle the door unlocks! Same with locking the door. GREAT news, you can’t lock your keys in the car. The car sounds an alarm. LOVE that!! The driver seat is so comfortable. The cooled seat is the best part of the seat!! I could definitely do a long car ride in the Santa Fe Sport. The sunroof is just beautiful! The only thing to whine about for the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport……. they took it BACK!!
What Hyundai would you like to drive? Personally, I’d like to drive this beauty! Couldn’t you just see me behind the wheel of the Equus?!?! The perks this baby has I’d never get out of the car!! Just looking at the picture you can almost HEAR how quiet it drives!

What an excellent review! I really enjoyed reading this post. I’ve always really liked the looks of the Hyundai vehicles, but am really glad to know that there is more to them than just good aesthetics. The features I really like that you touched on are the knee bag, the steering modes, lumbar support and I LOVE that you can save the driver(s) seating adjustments!
