Laughing Buddha Statue #BuddhaLaughs
Oh my goodness, wait till you see this handcrafted Laughing Buddha! So absolutely charming! Made of acacia wood, the Laughing Buddha stands for prosperity, happiness and longevity. Seriously, who hasn’t heard the term Rub Buddhas Belly for Luck?!?!
The beautiful colors of this Laughing Buddha is what drew me to the statue in the first place. My little (well, not soooo little) Buddha is just so happy that he makes me smile every time I see him.
Laughing Buddha is depicted as a stout, laughing bald man with an overtly exposed pot-belly stomach, laughing Buddha or celestial Buddha is better known as Hotei or Pu-Tai. It’s said his appearance comes from a Buddhist Zen monk who lived over thousands of years ago. His protruding stomach and jolly smile earned him this name.
Standing 8″ high and 7″deep. My Laughing Buddha is solid too; weighing in at 2 and 1/4 pounds. Another thing I really like is that my Buddha was signed on the bottom by the artist Eka.
Y’all know how much I love the fact that Novica includes with each purchase a little card that tells you about the artist.
Laughing Buddha was created by Eka; she is inspired by her children and family. ‘My children are my biggest motivation to work. I always keep my spirit up and go on strong for my children. Thanks to them I do not falter, and thanks to all of you for always supporting me and for encouraging me to develop new ideas and designs for sculptures so they will always be liked.’
Deciding where to place our newest additions I did some Internet searching. Again, lots of different ideas and beliefs. However almost every site that I visited agree that he should be placed at a height of 30″ from the floor and facing the main door. Laughing Buddha displayed in the south-east direction of the main hall, dining room or bed room of the home brings windfall luck and increased income in the family. So of course my Buddha is in the front hall. Facing south-east.
Not a single one! This is a wonderfully created statue, knowing that he is hand-crafted means that no one else has the exact Laughing Buddha makes me smile.

Makes me smile when I see him, too. I love all the amazing things that Novica finds.
How could anyone be miserable with him in the house? Actually, he looks very much like someone I know …
I love the story of Prince Siddartha Gautama. I think it has a lot of great life lessons.
