My Amazing Dad
Alice and I recently received the new book “My Amazing Dad” to review and truly the timing couldn’t have been better with this story!! One of the pages reads “He has no idea how to fix a leaky faucet” until very recently this page would have been perfect for Alice’s Amazing Dad.
My daughter and son-in-law have been have plumbing issues over the last couple of months that still has them living out of boxes! With plumbers and drywall guys in and out, Son-in-law Dan (very impressively) taught himself how to install a sink and cupboard for the bathroom! I have to give Dan a double thumbs up. It looks amazing and more importantly it works like a dream.
My Amazing Dad is written by Ezekiel Kwaymullina and illustrated by Tom Jellett.
This is a sweet book that reminds up that not all Dads are handymen, prompt or even good at everything. My Amazing Dad’s message is to kids and Dad’s everywhere is just be who you are, because you are AMAZING to us!
What a great reminder to Dad’s that you don’t have to be perfect. Kids don’t care that you aren’t a handy man, that isn’t what kids will remember when they grow up, the time you spend with them going to the park, playing games or reading books together. THOSE are the times they will remember!
The book is easy to read, the illustrations are fun and bright.
I have a small whine with this book, yes I know I am being picky, but why are there obviously 2 children throughout the story and yet it written like there is only one. Is child number two grounded and not as enamoured with dad?

Let’s not forget that women can do plumbing as well! My amazing Dad taught me all I know about DIY.

It sounds like a cute story. It would be nice for new readers.

As long as they don’t use this book as an excuse to get them off the hook every time a bit of DIY is needed!

The book looks adorable! If I don’t pick it up, I definitely need to request it in to my library.
